Maybe it has something to do with his suspension?

Only 3 players deserve to wear the Arsenal jersey after today's game: Gervinho, Walcott and Sneezy.

Gervinho is a beast...he tracked back for EVERY single ball even in the 93rd minutes...he was attacking, defending, and I swear at one point he threw the keeper's jersey on and blocked a couple of shots. No one on our team came close to showing the heart and desire that he showed...not even close.

Walcott played pretty well...he pairs up with Gervinho perfectly.

Sneezy is solid between the posts...as young as he is he's going to only get better.

I had hoped so much that rosicky would have a great season. I told my wife last weekend.."just you watch, this is his year." he was invisible today. not the worst of our bunch but certainly not good enough.

actually i take that back. walcott for Arsh and put Nik up top with Rvp. They both have 2 goals in 5 appearances in all competitions(4 in 10) at home against liverpool. one of them will score. so.....
    -----------Rvp-----Nik-----------
    Gervinho-----Ramsey---Song-----Theo

and then hopefully( well not ideal but anything is better than squillacci, if gibbs and djourou are still injured)

    Jenkinson----Kos----Verm----Sagna

Yea, I watch all the games including pre-season. It's a different team, we don't have a final ball without Cesc or even Jack. Rosicky in the meantime is going to have to fill in the big void left by him until we get Jack or a proper replacement. What Tom lacks in the that department, he gives it his all. What more can you ask from him? Do you want more inexperience in there with Frimmy or Lansbury? Hell we didn't even have RvP, who could play in the advanced role midfield role and release the ball to our front 3. Let our team get adjusted.

Did we lose or something? We'll be ok

edit: Tom doesn't have a great as final pass as Cesc, but he doesn't lack it. Some of our players are guilty of not moving (e.g. Chamakh). Hard for him to thread a pass when no one is making the run.

Verm, Kos and Sagna weren't good enough for you today?

I think Pool will be a very good barometer of where we stand. We won't be at full strength but with our injury history, we very rarely are. Pace will be much quicker and Pool's mid-field is solid even without Gerard. Don't know if I would rush Jack back for it though. Would like to see RVP catch fire however!

i must have been watching a different game than a lot of you guys. the cb's were our best players. walcott and gervinho weren't in any way bad, but certainly nothing special either.
for instance, gervinho was flaffing around a bit, all energetic, yet without the killer pass/shot and walcott was going down like a russian submarine at every opportunity.
on the other hand, no one had an absolute stinker, except chamakh...but really, when does not having a stinker and having a "half decent but nothing special" game elevate a player to "he was great"? is this the level we've come to accept? how messed up is that?

agree. taking into account injuries, this is what i believe to be the strongest squad we could field. obviosuly some people are out of position but you kinda have to just throw out your 11 most quality players available and see if they have developed any chemistry in the past year they have been playing together( minus jenks and gervinho). i think we beat pool with that lineup. its got everything....speed, height, strength, quality finishing and for the most part, experience.

Verm was good but not outstanding...Kos almost gave away 2 goals....wish he would pass the ball instead of taking a guy on and trying to dribble past him. Sagna was good as well but I still think that Gervinho was one of the few busting his ass the entire game.

I'm convinced that Chamakh is scared to have the ball at his feet. Every time he got the ball he laid it off for another player...even if that player was in black/white. It's sad to watch...he's one on one with a defender and he passes it all the way back to our CB instead of attacking.

Gervinho and Song are banned for the Liverpool game, you'll have to replace them with Arshavin and Rosicky or Frimpong.

Too many people led astray by the media. Our CB's were damn solid today. Even Djourou did his thing when called upon. I know it's not fashionable but health permitting we're actually quite strong at the CB right now. If we get another one it would be great but it's not dire.

As for Kos, he's really turning into my favorite guy back there. Always tidy, quick, aggressive with the clearout and plays the ball lovely on the deck. TV5 was exceptional as well. I thought Frimpong did well for a rookie in the CL. Our problems are clearly in the offensive aspect of the team and of cours we need backup for Gibbs

I think everyone sees that things arent good, but im not gonna b1tch about the current state of affairs on a message board, because none of us are going to be the catalyst for change sitting behind a keyboard. im just gonna keep on keepin on and hope the higher ups in london are taking proactive measures to better the situation. gotta always hope for the best. 2games in and we havent havent lost yet, and secretly i know that better than most who post on here would have expected with our situation going into the season. so im not frettin.

also i understand people arent as optimistic, thats cool, but i would hope those people aren't hatin on other posters who are optimistic. thats honestly pretty childish.

Ill be happy when we win, and voice my opinion on what i think could have been done better if we lose, but ill always be optimistic.

I liked our more direct approach today, but the thinness of our squad has already been exposed. We're playing for CL qualification and ended up with a Carling Cup squad on the field.

    Cesc- gone
    Nasri- "injured"
    Gibbs, Wilshere, Djourou- actually injured
    RVP- suspended

Those are five starters, but given how we always have at least 3-4 players injured at any one time, I expect this to be the norm this year unless Wenger miraculously signs 2-3 top quality players in the next 13 days.

Yeah, I didn't think it was that bad either. I was thinking about Roma about two or three years ago, which seems to me to be about the same level as Udinese now. That was much worse than this, where at least now we've got some confidence in our CBs and GK.

Rosicky looked fine to me too. Who's comparing him to Denilson? He plays sees the whole field, he's got fluidity in his movement, he tracks back on defense. We'll get better there in the future but for now I'm glad we have him.

Negatives were Frimpong and Jenkinson, Jenkinson especially. His defensive positioning and workrate are good, but that might be the most one-footed player I've ever seen. He needs a better left foot to play right back, let alone left back.
