    Typical result.

English juggernaut plays a weak game but does just enough to get the preferred result over the 4th placed Italian side with no experience.

you know things are in a very bad way when people are wanting bendtner to play.

I think we should've put Sagna at LB, then Jenkinson would've settled in a little bit easier. He looked nervous from the get-go

I'm glad we at least got the minimum required result today but that was a fairly poor performance. Even if Arsenal get to the group stage I don't see the current side getting to the CL knockout rounds unless we get the weakest possible draw and fewer than normal injuries.

I don't see how Wenger can hope to go into the season without bringing in at least three or more first team-ready players just to cover the issues we had at the end of last season and loss of Cesc. We have zippy quality depth compared to any of the clubs hoping to play in the CL beyond the Fall and critical holes in multiple areas with more players likely to leave before the window closes. I hope Wenger can surprise us with some amazing transfers in the time remaining but I'm not willing to put money on that outcome.

From conference football to starting out of position in a CL game in 8 months flat! Only at Arsenal.

    Negatives...

    - we couldn't hold the ball. And for Arsenal I think thats the first time I've seen it.

    - Rosicky provided heart and was neat and tidy but he just doesn't have the edge to play in any of the major games IMO.

    - Chamakh, would be bad playing for a mid table team. I'm lost that we keep playing him and don't have a striker.

    - Injuries, injuries injuries. I really hope their minor. At least Kos/Verm aren't injured tho!

    Positives

    - Although for some reason I heard complaints about him, to me Song was a beast out there. He protects the ball well, and basically when the ball is anywhere around him its his to be taken.

    - Frimpong. I really like the guy. To be honest I would like to see a Song,Frimpong,Wilshere midfield against a midfield of say...Chelsea. Another quality dmid to the Arsenal.

    - Kos/Verm ... if these 2 can stay injury free then our defense will be nice this year.

Really don't know what to say about Gervinho yet. Mixed reviews I guess... If Wenger could 'polish' him up then he will be one hell of a player.

Lol - it's incredible, really... I can't wait to read the quotes from Arsene. "Currently were a bit short at LB..."

Agreed. He was scared shitless, but after the first couple of minutes, he did pretty well.
I kind of liked Frimpy as well. He gave up 2 silly fouls but after that he pretty composed.

RVP, Gervinho, Jack and Rambo should go out for beers and hash out our lack of offense. I have a feeling they would come up with a better game plan than AW may have ( Chamak and AA can be DD and wait in the car!!)

????? i really think you need to lower your expectations. I'm not trying to sound like an @ss when i say this but times have changed, so be happy with the result. juggernaut means you have a handful of worldclass players. i didn't see any in red and white. its the beginning of a new era of The Arsenal, so take a seat and support. maybe I'm in the minority, but after looking at our options coming into the game, i didnt think it was going to be easy. i'm happy with this.

seriously, i just don't get this at all, and never have. he did one decent thing tonight imo (took it down the line past 2 players purely through a bit of pace) but other than that he just fouls. his passing is nothing to write home about and his best asset is tackling, which is either strong and good or a red card scenario.

At least we won. That's all I care for now. I don't even care about clean sheets that's too demanding for the talent we have on this team. Totally content with a 1 nil win. Our weakness came through today, I wonder if Wenger noticed? Nope, he didn't. I'm so bummed about Chamakh though. He showed quality when first signing for us and I was so relieved to have had another striker option, now he's a joke. Seriously, how's he pro? It's sad how terrible he is now. He really needs to pick it up, I lost faith in that dude.

Agree with all the above. Kos / Verm are solid. Would love to see Frimmy with Song and Wilshere.
Gervinho will definitely need the polish. When TH14 came in, he was not a finished product either. Le;ts hope that Gervinho can follow his steps.

I didn't think Jenkinson did well. I remember him letting a ball get through his feet to a man in the box. He had to turn around to find both his man and the ball, and was lucky not to be punished for it. Also, a few times he had to turn around in an awkward semi circle just to get the ball on his right so he could deliver a backpass. If he continues on the left we are screwed.

pretty much agree on all points. the "how is he a pro?" is a little harsh though lol

he's just not arsenal quality. i mean, it is possible that wenger miscalculated that one.

Well at least this game is in London and Wenger will have enough rest so he can wake up early in the morning and get on top of the transfers... I can hope right?

Frimmy is still too raw, don't know what everyone is on about this kid. The scary part is, he's probably going to start against Liverpool, Utd, and Swansea. Hope Jack recovers by then, we need his drive

we continued with denilson, diaby, almunia and bendtner for years....at least jenkinson has the excuse of being out of position on his competitive debut.
