if that home has the same look on the back, that thing's all class. i may even be looking to get one.
alright, then ... now that we've got '10/'11 behind us, wednesday can commense to pissing this league. i'm not at all happy about meggo sending tommeh packing, but most of the other comings and goings make sense to me - at least as much as 3rd division transactions can to someone 4000 miles away - so here's to hoping. and while i'm hoping, i'll continue wishing for a mellor deal to be finalized ... oh, and for a bit more pace, either on the wing or up front. unless someone's better than i think they are, this doesn't exactly appear to be a lineup that will be pulling defenses apart with regularity. then again, what do i know? so hope carries the day. UTO FTB!
u and beastie 13 goals and 7 assists. Not bad for a starting striker in the third tier i guess... if he were 10lbs lighter he might add 5 more goals tho... maybe the new kit will make him look slimmer. Goals: 13 Mellor 9 Miller 6 Morrison 5 Madine 4 Coke 4 Johnson 4 Sedgwick 3 Potter 3 Reda 3 Heffernan 2 Beevers 2 Tudgay 2 O'Connor 2 Teale 1 Buxton 1 Jones ASSISTS: 8 Teale 7 Mellor 5 Coke 4 Spurr 4 Miller 3 Sedgwick 3 Buxton 2 Morrison 2 Otsemobor 1 Potter 1 Madine 1 Morrison 1 J.Johnson 15th: 16-1O-20
in what? 30? 32 games? from a midfield that created virtually nothing. i'm not saying wednesday shouldn't bring in more quality at striker, of course, but between tubby, morrison, madine, and heffers, i can sure as heck tell you which one i'd like to see kept. especially if we don't see a dramatically more dynamic attacking midfield.* who would you like to see in, bro? *something for which megson's not exactly noted, by the way.
i saw him play two matches. he looked out of shape in both. IMHO. u make a good point. i do too. he needs to loose a few lbs.
mellor's weight may be millwall's problem. rumors are going around that kenny jackett's taking him to the new den. typical message board stuff, best i can tell ... some millwall* ITK says it's on. so take that for what it's worth. as for me, the more friendlies SWFC plays, the more desperate i get to bring mellor back in. he got 13 in 33 with virtually no service, whatsoever ... and from what we're hearing, the service to the forwards may not be any better this time around. it sounds as though someone's going to have to get 'em from nothing, or there won't be much scoring for wednesday. *according to the voices at millwall, by the way, you're being vindicated, ivan. they think he's a fat load of crap, too.
Sheffield Wednesday 2 - O Rochdale Robert Jones (16') David Prutton (72') ... GOALS 1 Jones 1 Prutton ASSISTS 1 Bennett 1st: 1-O-O ...... O8/11/2O11@ UP THE OWLS!
did anybody here see this one? ivan? it was supposedly on fox soccer plus and foxsoccer.tv ... i meant to see it, but work commitments kept me over and i missed it all. anyway, slightly mixed reports from the fellas at OA, with some (and statistics) suggesting that wednesday were utterly outplayed, others implying that they were worth the point that a draw, had it been league play, would have provided, and most saying that either way, both sides were a bit crap. what does seem apparent is that they (blackpool) missed a couple sitters that should have decided it. whatever the case, advancing vs opposition from a higher division (even with non-starters) is always somewhat satisfying. advancing against blackburn away, of course, is a still bigger ask, though one presumes it will not be followed by a league match within 48 hours, so maybe wednesday will field a slightly stronger side. one thing that winning does provide, though, even if ugly and/or undeserved, is a barrier against the losing mentality that seemed to grip this team for much of the last two seasons. i'm quite pleased about today's result. perhaps moreso because i did not see it ... but pleased regardless.
i had no idea that it was viewable at all. from here on out, we should all agree to post such info in this thread about future matches. i mean, even though it sounds like this game was pretty damn unwatchable, i'd still love to have seen it since opportunities to see swfc play are so few and far between.
fair enough. i have to apoligize because i intended to do just that (i just found out myself a day or two ago), but i failed to do so. no excuses, though. won't happen again.
