I didn't see the game at Carlisle but I've heard Peterlin played well, I was at Hartlepool on Saturday though ad he was decent, didn't do anything special but performed solidly, as it was his first game in a long time it wasn't bad at all. We're only three points off safety, if the club survives the season there's still a chance of staying up. Our squad's pretty small, we could only name six substitutes on Tuesday so although Peterlin isn't first choice he's bound to get a chance when players get injured of suspended, he'll have a part to play.

Anton went 90 but the team lost to Leyton Orient 2:0.

He also had one foul drawn.

With its 10 pts deduction, Argyle is dead last in League One with 33 pts after 39 matches.

I was at the game, Peterlin played well, perhaps our best player. He passed the balll well and seemed comfortable in possesion. I don't think he's the sort of player who'll ever win games on his own but he looks like he could be useful at this level, a player to be relied on to do the simple things well. It's now all but certain we'll be relegated, the gap is too big and the squad too weak and too small, based on what I've seen I'd very much like Peterlin to be with us next season in League Two, I think he'd be a real asset in that league but he's out of contract at the end of the season and I'd be suprised if there aren't better offers for him than League Two football with us.

Thanks for the first hand reports Ed. I only get to read the match reports. Looks like Anton started and went 86 minutes in the 2-1 loss yesterday to one of the top teams in the table. The description of the game made it sound like the team played very well, and possibly outplayed their opponent slightly.

You have described Anton's game pretty well based on my few years of watching him in California. He is a smart, solid passer, great at doing anything needed for the team. I do hope he finds a good, stable team to play for next year.. it must be hard for everyone involved at Argyle to stay positive and focused.

    Re: Anton Peterlin at Plymouth

I think we should have won that game, Peterborough's keeper made a couple of great saves (including a penalty in the last minute, it was heartbreaking) and I don't think their first goal should have stood. This Plymouth team isn't that bad, the players give absolutely everything every game which is pretty remarkeable considering they've not been paid since December, they really were unlucky to lose. Peterlin was again pretty solid, he was subbed off to make way for another striker in an attempt to get something from the game not because he did anything wrong, again he looked comfortable on the ball and passed it well. He was played out on the left which didn't seem to suit him or the team but we didn't have anyone else more suitable available and he did ok, he didn't look too badly out of place. He could be a useful player at this level, if he does move to a new club next season as I expect him to it'd be nice if it was a League One team to see what he can do in better circumstances but wherever he ends up I wish him all the best, this season can't have been any more enjoyable for the players than it has for the fans but they've never given up, they've all kept fighting and all deserve a bit of success in the future. One last thing to mention is that Peterlin is one of a few players who always comes over to the fans after the game to acknowledge the support, it's a little thing to do but it's always appreciated.

Hmm, left MF? Yeah, never seen him play there so I bet he was a bit of a fish out of water. LOL! Glad he held down his side OK.

Peterlin starting for Plymouth today, who are likely to be relegated to League Two at the end of the season. His contract is up this summer - will he head back to MLS? You would hope so. He's only started 7 games for Plymouth this season, no goals and one assist. He's already 24 years old, needs playing time and is not really a kid anymore. Portland, San Jose or Chivas could probably pick him up this summer if they offered 80-90k or so. Not sure if he'll take that.

He could also end up in Denmark's second division, since he's part Danish.

It's been announced today that along with eight other players, Peterlin is not going to be offered a new contract and so will be released. It's a shame this had to happen as I think he'd have been very useful in League Two. I'll be very interested to see where he ends up and how he does, I've heard a rumour he's been offered a trial at a League One club but he'd rather go back to the US. I wish him the best of luck in the future, like all the players here this season he's given an enormous amount of effort and for no pay. I hope he finds a club where he can be successful.

Yes, I saw that. I hope he finds a good home where he can just focus on soccer and not worry about all the outside stuff. Good luck to Argyle and his remaining teammates. Hopefully they'll get back on their feet next season.

Or not ... They apparently have yet to decide on Peterlin:

A berth is being kept open for a central midfielder and ex-Everton and Plymouth man Anton Peterlin, who will get another opportunity to impress.

Reading Walsall's FB page, it seems a few fans liked Anton. Sure hope he impresses manager Dean Smith and gets a contract.

Darn! If I had known that earlier I would have listened. Ah well, lots of work got done today. Peterlin came on in the 60th minute. Anyways, was reading their FB page and a fan actually posted that Peterlin would be in his starting 11. I am hopeful for Anton... then we can start a new thread!

    Re: Anton Peterlin at Plymouth

Peterlin has agreed to a one year deal with Wallsall, provided he passes his medical today.
    Manager Dean Smith:
“Anton has got fitter as time has gone on and I think he can be good for us.
“He finds little pockets in play where he can use the ball – and he uses the ball well. He also covers the ground and has played well with both Richard Taundry and Adam Chambers alongside him.
“He will be a very useful addition.”

Next time, let's start a new thread on Anton with proper headline (unless mod can change headline to something more generic).

Just start a new thread. The mods here are pretty slow at changing thread titles for obscure YAs recently...
