On the other hand if winning the fanbase over is most important instead of results, then Klinsmann could bench Bradley immediately.

I was thinking the same thing, I mean, I give the poster an A for effort - but seriously, that's BB 2.0, outside of a couple a players being swapped. We've seen that Edu, MB and Jones can't create or even control a midfield when they play together like that. Some people make the argument that 2 of those 3 cannot do it.

I think there is probably a few players that may be different, but its one thing to change one or two guys out, its another to coordinate a full roster. I think it was Gulati who said expect to see a lot of familiar faces because there wasnt much time in the runup, so its not like there is no indication Klinsman wasnt at least partially restrained by the time frame.

Or to put it another way, you want to take a look at John, Omar, and Ream as central defenders, and you rate them in that order. Your first friendly is 2 weeks after your hire date, and Ream already was being called up. Do you rescind that call up, and call up John, or do you continue with the Ream callup and look at him first?

I'm not sure that bigsoccer represents the fanbase, and I don't think that most of bigsoccer wants to see Bradley benched immediately. (If you're kidding [Edit: or taking my last post seriously], then: nevermind!)

Generally speaking, I think that the players like and respect Klinsmann and that there won't be any problems in transition. The only important player who needs to be handled with a bit of tact and caution is Bradley, because he's probably mad about his father's firing.

Its not the first time it has happened to him. The last time, he raised his game.

well, that's a downgrade and it diminishes our options on the right side.

At least it's not Robbie Rogers.

    Good for Zach.

Shea is about speed and size - great for American football but gives you a false confidence for soccer. Torres is about technical ability and quickness and lets his passing do the running.

Robbie had his first 2 assist game in my memory last week @RSL. I'm a Crew fan, but I roundly criticized his inclusion in the Gold Cup squad. But he is playing better lately.

Good for Loyd, but unlike Chandler, he is a back all the way. He had a rough 1st leg in CCL against Alianze. Didn't see the second leg. Think it means a longer night for both Dolo and Donovan on the right side.

Have you seen the goals Brek Shea has scored this year? You sound like you've never seen him play.

I get what you're saying, but Shea is a very vertical player. He's sloppy in possession in midfield - one of the reasons Schellas and others see his best position internationally as an overlapping fullback.

You want us to have a coach who immediately changes his plan for the team based around statements from their clubs?

Christ, I would fire that guy on the spot if I knew he changed his mind because of that sort of thing.

I can almost guarantee he hasn't, along with anyone else who makes statements like that about Shea.

Have you seen Shea in previous USMNT duty where he looks like a lost kid as game goes on around him???

I thought the same thing; Dolo has to go the full 90 now. Donovan has to play at least 60 before letting somebody like Adu take over on the right, and even that is not the best option.

So we're done with a kid after his 2nd cap at age 20?

I'm working on that players get better by practicing and playing additional games - especially when extremely young.

    It's a new idea, but I think it's a good one.

Looked like when he was younger, he played like a amateur would, with worry and looked like he couldn't touch the ball at times, but look at him now. Scoring goals like crazy. He not even close to his prime yet.

That was true for Dempsey for most of his early caps. We just have to give guys with loads of potential more time to gel and get use to it. I'm not saying give him EJ minutes when he clearly sucks for lack of better options, but don't go writing guys off after 4-5 caps with the B team either.

Heck - if we can throw Jozy, Agudelo, Adu, Ream, Torres etc. to the curb, why the hell not?

With Chandler out and Loyd in, here is what I think the starting XI against Mexico would look like:

    ----------------------Buddle----------------------
    ----------Torres--------------------Bradley-------
    Donovan---------------------------------------Adu
    ----------------------Jones-----------------------
    Loyd------------------------------------Cherundolo
    -----------Orozco----------- Goodson-------------
    ---------------------Howard----------------------
