Yep.... I hope later, after reflection, he feels just a little embarassment over this sort of ranting.

Then he followed up that by saying he wanted to play the second half in an Arsenal shirt but rules didn't allow it.

Seriously - it's just unprofessional to go on the way he did. As if Red Bull was in anyway pretending to be as talented as Arsenal. Glad Red Bull made him look even more ridiculous. What a jerk.

Henry is continuing his victory lap and just put on a couple of scarves. Was this a testimonial or a pre-season tournament?

Besides being a d*ck, the color commentator missed the true story here.

While score was 0-0 or 1-0, Red Bulls had a chance to win the entire tournament. And yet, the comentator acted like nothing was going on.

The color guy could have brought up fact that Arsenal plays pretty (but still has trouble closing the deal- even in preseason), that Arsenal plays
weak and unconcentrated at the end of games for years now, and
that Red Bulls were heavy underdog due to the salary disparity, lack of
depth- and the 'Rocky' like aspects of the story. He could have discussed the evolution of the game in the US, how Henry and Beckham are making a difference, the beautiful soccer specific stadiums just built in the US, how US has placed better than England in 2 of the 3 last World Cups (ok, that last one is an
    intentional dig)

But no, the guy is a complete moron and arrogant as hell....and as a result, turned a decent story into an absolute arrogant bore-fest.

If you were English, why would you watch beyond 2 seconds of the match? (according to the color commentator).

Seriously, I'd consider firing his a$$ if I were the network. There was a good storyline in there, but he was too interested in pontificating and
spewing nonsense. Absolutely no value added with that guy.

edit: The color guy called Red Bulls a pub team? Yes, he deserves to be fired and I hope he does. I'd love it if Kroenke would get upset and bring that guy down, as well. After all, it is the Emirates Cup and the guy is being disrepectful to the entire tournament, which Arsenal is a part.

Upon reflection, what this color commentator did is the announcer's equivalent of Mario Balotelli's backheel goal attempt against Galaxy.

First half of PSG game and I thought Red Bull looked like the better team. Second half they were more in defense mode I guess.

Two halves really. The second half against PSG and the first today. They played more attacking in the second half today.

Now they're saying calling them a pub team is harsh. They could be League One... although now one is saying possibly Championship.

The Color commentator now apologizes, paraphrasing: " I went too far calling them a Pub team, but they are no better than a League One side" Which was agreed to by the regular guy.

So you see, Arsenal was just drawn by Plymouth Argyle...:D

Martin Keown called them Championship and Robbie Savage was the harsh one (though I think he's right about them being League One quality. Nothing shaming about that. The Championship is equal or better than many countries top tier leagues). The hilarious thing is that the Whitecaps nearly got Savage but he wanted to stay in England to concentrate on his commentating career.

Did anyone other than Henry play for RB? He's the only player they showed. Arsenal player interview time.

the funniest thing is now Keown is going on and on about how other teams like Man City and Chelsea are big spenders and Arsenal work miracles on a small budget ... meanwhile he spent the whole game as part of a commentary team that bashed RBNY, despite winning the tournament, which is a team that's entire roster minus DPs makes less that ONE Arsenal squad player ...

    irony much?

It really is simple. It is Arsenal's little private competition. On Arsenal's home ground. NYRB defeats Paris St. Germain, and tied Arsenal. Arsenal drew Boca and NYRB...... ergo, according to those leading lights commentating.... NYRB is rubbish and Arsenal really went too far in gifting TH.
    Ok, got it. :D

and go Reading (was a fun couple years there in the Prem,
they'll be back soon. They were exciting team to watch).

Basically trying to focus more on what Arsenal did to lose the game and what it means for the upcoming season, since after all it's only "preseason", rather than discussing New York (who admittedly didn't offer much until the 70th minute or so) other than Henry "had a good day".

A quick round of quips about the quality of the Red Bulls seemed to come to the consensus that they were no better than a Championship / League One side (definitely not Premiership). Robbie Savage (who's been slagging them off all day) was pretty adamant that they were undoubtedly even worse than that.

Yes. Reading going down from the Prem on goal differential was very very tough. They played well, and it is a shame they couldn't get a stroke of luck that year.

I think the worst legacy of this match will be that NYRB will be trotting out those yellow shorts again. I'm all for stopping the trend of uni-color kit but those shorts don't look good.

Arsenal's problem for years is that they play with no heart or steel.
A function of all the fancy nancy Wenger falls in love with and buys.
    Sum= less than parts now.
Money has never been the problem.

Wenger should study pub teams. They have something his side
    doesn't possess.
