The Chicago Red Stars will host the 2011 WPSL National Championship Saturday-Sunday, July 30-31 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in west suburban Lisle, IL. http://www.wpsl.info/ The Red stars themselves are in the playoffs having won the WPSL Midwest North division.
The WPSL Final Four is set: Saturday July 30: 1:00 pm Boston Aztecs vs. Orange County Waves 3:00 pm Chicago Red Stars vs. Tampa Bay Hellenic Sunday 1:00 Championship game Looking at the rosters there are some very good players coming into town. There are some recognizeable names as well. My favorite Red Star of all time, Brittany Klein is coming back with OC Wave. I hope Chicago fans give Brit Klein a big hand when she runs out on the field because she played her heart out for Chicago, gave it 110% every game and IMO has very ball good skills. As much as Carli Lloyd stunk it up her first year with th Red Stars, Brittany Klein shined and IMO, and some that sat around me, Brit often had to cover for Lloyd's mistakes and inabilities. Sorry to say that, but that was my perspective a couple of years ago at Red Stars games. And let's not forget that Brittany Klein was chosen to the WPS All-Star game in St. Louis that year. Also last year's Champions, Boston Aztecs will be wanting to defend their Title.
Why be sorry to tell the truth? Proclaim it loudly. Klein was really good for CRS. Lloyd was horrible for CRS. Still can't believe Hayes didn't bench her.
A blog I came across: http://newcity.com/2011/07/26/one-g...o-capitalize-on-u-s-womens-world-cup-success/ Return to WPS? I still hope so.
While I think this is a discussion for other threads, if CHI say they will return and less than two of the current teams fold, guaranteeing at least six, then yes I think there will be a WPS next year. Anyway, good luck Red Stars! Please make Cinalli have the title-winning goal. ;-)
