I'm just enjoying listening to the "experts" say that Paraguay is favorite based on history.

Let's take a look at their record so far in the tournament
    Paraguay 0-4-0
    Venezuela 2-2-0

Paraguay has an easy match coming up.
I believe Paraguay after scoring 3 to 1 to Venezuela, believed that it was a closed game and decided to just play around with the ball. Which is something Paraguayans do not know how to do.
Venezuela for the past 4 years is the kind of team that attacks as much as possible but while doing so the other team may score lots of goals...
Chile offense just kept missing the opportunities. Something Roque Santa Cruz and Barrios know how to do.
No surprise to see 3 to 3 and no surprise to see Chile lose against Venezuela, when Chile had one of the worst defense lines I've seen in the tournament.

Paraguay wins with an easy 3 to 0 against Venezuela.

Paraguay defends much better than Chile... interesting to see who will come out playing the offense. A Venezuela le conviene defenderse con todo como lo hizo con Chile pero en el contra ataque no sera tan facil agarrar mal parado a Paraguay.

Venezuela cannot concede open spaces for the counter, they have to keep a cautious approach in midfield. I agree that Paraguay felt comfortable in the 3-1 and basically left the guard down, even with the 3-3 they were qualified.

It's better to let them have the ball. It's what even Spain did. The Villa goal was on a counter in the 83'. Paraguay is at its most vulnerable when they got the ball. When you have it, they'll find a way to frustrate you. Let them move forward late in the game, when still 0-0, and then in a single lethal counter kill them.

This could apply very well to them:

Be careful at the start of each half. Paraguay tends to score more goals when the game is just starting, or the second half just starting, and the other team is still not well-positioned on the field.

Not a great match so far, Venezuela had the best chances to score.

Actually a good call by the ref on the offsides (if that was the call). The defender was blocking the keeper's view.

I think it's been rather interesting. For a while there in the middle, the game got boring. Venezuela deserve to be leading.

The commentator here is very angry at the cancelled goal from Viscarrondo. Calling the lineman a thief. I think he associates with Venezuela, Peru is a "small" country still in terms of football. "Que difícil es ser equipo chico"

Even first half. I still haven't heard a good explanation for the goal Venezuela had called back.

Bet this one goes to penalties. Paraguay, I should record their games and use them when I find it hard to sleep.

When Vizcarrondo heads it, there's a Venezuelano in front of the keeper whose offside. He's either blocking the keeper's view or may have lightly touched it. Either way, it's offside and a very good call (I really didn't see it at first).

Dude I think every post I see from you its something criticizing Paraguay

If you hate how they play so much, noone is making you watch their games.

Sorry, man. I find them fascinating tactically, I've said so many times.

But, com'on, you have to be honest and admit almost all the games against Paraguay are not exactly the most entertaining of matches.

thx. I'll have to go back and look at it, I thought everyone was onside and the called infraction was a shove.

They may not be the most exciting games but its not their job to entertain anyone, its their job to try and win in the style they feel works best for them.

Like I said if you find them boring you dont have to watch them, example I find England an extremely boring team to watch, Solution, instead of continuing to watch their games and saying how boring they are, I just dont watch them at all.

Anyone think that we're seeing less adventurous play due to the possibility of extra time in this tourney?
