yup, with that permanent smile plastered on. Maybe that's why Pia brought her along, so the sheer power of her face could lift the team.

I just got through browsing one of my horse boards, read this, and thought: 'Yeah, Fawcett would make a totally awesome broodmare.'

Thanks for nothing, Buehler. Giving it up in the box and letting Japan score 9 minutes from time. Goddamn it. She should've been taken out of the game then and there.

    Goddamn it all.

You'd have had to take Kreiger out too though; if she'd done pretty much anything else with that ball to clear it we might have escaped. A disappointing ending to a great tournament.

Buehler was the last one, though. Hope she goes home from Germany alone on the plane. Never put her in a national team uniform again.

And if anyone here's thinking about defending Buehler, check that at the door. It don't play here, or anywhere. Loyalty to a player can really bite you in the butt, too.

    *still  *

I'm going to have to buy a new computer :( I have a loaner (off and on) for a bit. But my machine is dead. I'm going to have to save up some ca$h and get a new one.

Suggestions? Things to make sure NOT to do? Things I absolutely must consider?

I'm not overly gifted in the IT dept.

I am. But give me a couple of hours to mourn this loss (and get rid of the hangover) and I'll give you some specs.

What type of usage will this PC be getting? Mostly internet, movies, occasional documents or more intensive type gaming etc? I'm not a big fan of buying the latest and greatest, most powerful PC ever unless you genuinely need that. Are you a Mac or a PC person?

I usually buy something (desktops) in the lower-mid range, then add on any extras over time. Usually includes new video/graphics card, extra HDs, more RAM, etc. That way I don't have to pay it all at once and I can research my parts and not just rely on the seller to do it for me.

I should have probably just built my current machine from scratch, but I was too impatient.

Well, at least Solo didn't open her mouth this tournament.

Praise Jesus for small favors. :D

I wanted this to happen to Buehler and Krieger after their tag-teaming left Solo out to dry:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J---aiyznGQ"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J---aiyznGQ[/ame]

One or both should've been subbed out at the next restart.

Well sh*t. Knew there was a reason I was more concerned about meeting up with Japan in the final than I would've been about meeting up with Sweden in the final.

Not going to defend Buehler, but I think it's ridiculous to blame yesterday's loss on a single player. If the forwards do their jobs in the first half, the US is up 3-0 at halftime, and Japan has no reason to think they're still in the match.

But sometimes, your offense does sputter, which means the D has to step up. Buehler nor Krieger did, and gifted Japan that tying goal 9 minutes from time. So I do reserve the right to blame both of them for costing the US the cup. I don't ever want to see either of them on the national team after this. There needs to be accountability here.

And sometimes the defense screws up, which means the offense has to make up for it. (See the US-Brazil match.) I don't seen any point putting 100% of the blame on one side or the other, or, for that matter, discussing the issue in this thread rather than in the zillion other ones it would be more appropriate for. I thought this thread was for topics other than soccer.

well, we do talk about soccer here and there.. but it's more like: "Sh*t, I had two Jack and Coke during the first 90 and a cider by the other 30 watching the world cup... at the end of it, I wanted to go to the Santa Monica Pier and do some surfing, but was too drunk to keep my balance"

See? A little bit of soccer, a little bit of life....

Pauk, I knew you would do this during her success in the WWC! :)

I have my own beef with Ryan not letting Chastain get her 200 caps....
