Don't you see it....are you blind? The team lacks cohesion not because they don't have talent, but because the lineups are screwed up and there's no confidence/morale in the coach. I saw it firsthand spending time with these guys 2 weeks ago in Quito. If you don't think our players have talent, look at the successes of some of our guys in their clubs and come back and say the same thing. Maybe you are grossly misrepresenting what you intend to say, but talent exists. Even major soccer announcers including the Fox Sports guys that usually don't throw roses at our feet acknowledged that there are other problems beyond the futbolistico because our guys have experience and the ability to play.
We need youth big time to bring life and speed to our game! The older guys aren't just good enough anymore. Reasco, Elizaga, and Castillo should even start anymore. Araujo and W. Ayovi cannot be starters or will need replacements soon. Arroyo is very inconsistent and I don't see him as a starter anymore. Who can come in? Jaramillo is the furute goalie for Ecuador. R. Ibarra is Valencia's replacement or can play next to Valencia. Gaibor is one of the best young Midfielders coming out form Ecuador. Narvaez can replace Reasco. Montaño will have a hard time starting in front of Benitez/Caicedo but I think he can be a good replacement for Benitez. Others: Rojas, Montero, Oña, Quiñonez, M. de Jesus (he will improve a lot in Spain), J. Cevallos (dude is going to be a great player!), Joel Valencia (star in the making). 4-4-2 Goalie: Jaramillo Defense: Narvaez, Araujo (Morante), Erazo, Ayovi (Someone else) Midfield: Valencia, Gaibor, Rojas, Montero Forwards: Caicedo, Benitez (Montaño) 3-5-2 Goalie: Jaramillo Defense: Narvaez, Araujo(Morante), Erazo Midfield: Valencia, R. Ibarra, Gaibor, Rojas, Montero Forwards: Caicedo, Benitez (Montaño) OMG that line up looks awesome IMO. There are so many good youth players that are going to be subs. Can't wait for the next generation players start playing on the NT.
I don't understand this crap about our players having no talent...did you see the first half of the game??? We actually touched the ball and I bet if we played like this against Venezuela, we might be going to the next phase. Obviously, Reasco has to go and I think Narvaez can should be the replacement. I still think we are gonna get rid of Rueda. You guys just don't understand that some things have to be addressed in person and not to the press. You really think Chiriboga would fire Rueda through an interview? They obviously need to sit and talk in Ecuador. I really feel bad for Rueda but I think Vizuete has more balls than him. This Copa America was a complete failure and I honestly think from here the only way we can go is up! The first step to this is getting rid of Rueda and waiting for Sixto to do well in the U-20 WC.
Dude, are you serious? There is no way you are gonna put a benched/undersized keeper to start. We have to get Banguera or Dominguez in there. I dont know how you expect 5 midfielders with no defensive characteristics to work. Noboa has to be there and so does Arroyo. Some of these guys are way too young to be thrown as starters of the senior team.....especially if they barely get playing time in their clubs.
Oh my God! Then we must be the most talented team in the world that can't beat a Mexican youth team, and barely scratches out a point in the Copa America (which seems more and more like a third world soccer tournament). If you guys want to pin it all on the coach, go ahead. I just feel our players suck big time too. If they truly had talent, then they would have found a way to scratch out more than ONE FREAKIN' POINT! A talented team finds a way to win even when their coach is not good. That's why it's called talent.
We have the players to be good. Dont confuse it that we are in the same as brazil but to be fighting for 3rd, 4th maybe even 2nd place in conmebol. We should not of been in close to last place in Copa america. We need to expect more but also be realistic. The youth movement as some of you state will get killed. We need a mixture of old and new. We also should of called up a few other key players up for the NT. The very first step is to can rueda. I can't get over the Paraguay and Venezuela loss. That was the killer we were playing a counter attacking conservative strategy on teams ready to be beat by a aggressive quick attacking team.
Sorry brother but your analysis is incorrect. The talent is mostly there with a few changes. I would consider replacing Ayovi - to wasteful upfront with the ball and lacks the speed to defend. Reasco - lacks any type of touch and diminishing cover skills against quality forwards or wings Mina- little impact The rest of the starters should come back for the qualifiers.
I don't mean to start right now I mean in the future. For sure though Reasco, Elizaga, and Castillo aren't good enough starting today. Hopefully this was their last game with the NT. Yeah I agree about Naboa can start, I forgot about him. I think Gaibor and Valencia are good at recovering the ball though. Arroyo is very inconsistent every game. 1st half he is good and the 2nd half he disappears. Rojas and Montero(with more playing time) will be much better than Arroyo overall. Arroyo can come in as a sub. Banguera or Dominguez? They both suck though. I think Jaramillo is the future and once he gets more playing time he will take over on the NT.
looks like the airport in Quito. There's gonna be security, po's, and militares up the ass there guarding him on his way out.
Narvaez is way better as a centeral defender. And we can't bring half the U-20 all at once. That's insane. John Narvaez is not a de La Cruz or a Reasco that will attack and defend. He'll only defend. And in games where we need to push up, he's not gonna work. He's the perfect central defender for the NT, but not yet. The guy who needs to get his chance now before it's too late is Eduardo Morante. I think out of the U-20 the players that should be on this NT or at least taken into consideration are John Narvaez (sub), Dennis Quinonez (with a possibility to play next to Noboa), Fernando Gaibor (My first option to play next to Noboa), Renato Ibarra (sub), Edson Montano (sub). Besides that, the rest of the guys gotta wait. We'd do harm to them by just throwing them on the field now. As far as Reasco and Ayovi's position- That's the big problem. We have few guys who we can try out there. Miguel Ibarra and Jose Madrid are just 2 options to TRY. Who knows how they'll respond. I think Reasco and Ayovi should still both be on the NT, but Reasco FOR SURE has to start his games on the Bench. He doesn't have the stamina for a 90 minute game at this pace anymore. We can't have a repeat of yesterday where Benitez and Arroyo are defending near the corner kick area.
With the exception of Caicedo's two goals, we've had a real lack of creativity in trying to muster up any form of solid attack that turns into dangerous shots. Give Cazares two more years of hardcore development, and wait for Govea and De Jesus to have a standout season (next year they could be taken into consideration). Watch the U-20 WC...these kids should have a breakout tournament. I've spent a lot of time with them this past month, and I got a feeling. We got future stars in the making, so it's a bright future. But Rueda has to go
I'm with you on that LDU. This team gives the vibes that our old NT's used to give me. not one player on the squad can be singled out as a bad player. Not one. I've never seen an ecuadorian squad like this one. But I agree, Cazares, Govea, De Jesus, W. Chala, Jaramillo, etc.- all players that we'll have to wait for a little longer. as far as Caicedo, it comes to show you that if someone is there to aid him up front, he'll score. that's why i said, there's no way we can criticize our forwards at all yet. B/c they weren't involved in clear opportunities to score in the past two games (besides 1 from benitez and 1 from caicedo).
Settle down, dude... The team sucks...yes. Can't disagree. But to say the team has no talent is incorrect. France and Italy both went 3 and out in 2010 WC. Both teams sucked hard - but I would not dare say that they lacked talent. Now, I'm not comparing the levels of talent that Ecuador has to Italy or France. I am just using it to show how silly your comment is. Ecuador has talent, just does not have the coaching or managing to use it properly. Ecuador has "wasted talent" with no direction.
I cant believe that Ecuador will have 4 good forwards for the near future!! It doesn't sound real to me but Govea, Montano, Chala, and de Jesus (in that order) can all be stars! I think this team will go really far with Sixto Vizuete leading them! Our future looks bright and even our present is good.....we just need to make the obvious change and let go of Rueda! Do you guys think the players might be against Rueda being the coach as well? They did it to Suarez and I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing it again.
This. Remember our 2002 squad? Kleber Chala and Raul Guerron were starters!! The rest of the squad included superstars like El Cuchillo Fernandez and Augusto Poroso, guys that made me tremble with fear whenever the ball came near them - for all the wrong reasons! We have weak spots like any team, but that's not the issue. The issue is the way they play together.
A guy I like a lot at RB is Mario Pineida. He defends well, plays tough, and can attack when needed. I remember him and Ibarra linking up pretty well in the U 20 SA Championship. And as for Naravaez, I agree that he will be better used as a CB. The U 20 guys got talent all the way around- Ibarra (recently signed with Vitesse), Ona (he'll be playing in Germany next season), Gaibor, Quinones, Cazares, Marcos Caicedo, Narvaez, Velasco, Andres Lopez, Pineida, Jaramillo, Chala, De Jesus, Govea, Montano...these guys have talent. Will they all pan out, problably not but the talent and potential are there. We'll have to see how they do on the WC. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them end up with European teams after the WC is over.
Kleber was a BEAST in El Nacional. He ran all across the field. But he was not NT material, he didn't have the technical ability or the football brain. But he was the original Saritama - for some reason, every coach loved him and he was always called up!
Mario Pineida is awesome. Plays like an experienced guy. He's not amazing when it comes to attacking but he's for sure 100% solid on defense. No one gets through the kid easily. I really hope he gets picked up by a good after the WC is over. He deserves it. If im not mistaken he's played more games than any other U-20 player in first division.
what's he up to these days? And where's Raul Guerron LOL. Those two disappeared silently from the futbol maps. Raul Guerron was probably the worst left back I ever saw on the NT haha makes me laugh how we actually started him at some point.
Kleber is hanging out it appears, lol. I went with his brother and cousin to pick him up at the airport last Monday and we went out for drinks and ceviches...the guy seems to be doing well. From what I saw he's sort of a talent scout in Ecuador and I think he's got a few businesses, too.
