I don't know what happened. I was in row 7 of Union when it all went down. At any rate the CSC did something we haven't been able to do ourselves and that's unite the Nordecke.

The crew needs to sort it out. I want an apology in the Dispatch to LTA and if it is a fire code issue (which I thought I heard a suit say at the times - after 4 years? I call BS) then I suggest spending a couple grand and building an approved area for LTA.

The fact is Union, Hooligans and LTA may be 3 supporter groups but we are one family. La Tarbina Amarillas es mi familia! If LTA isn't welcome in the Nordecka then none of us are welcome and none of us will stay. No drums, No Nordecka anyway. You take away HSH, LTA or CSU and you ruin the whole thing. We are 3 and 1. The 3 groups allow us to party in our way before the games and then come together as a family during the game.

When Kessler brought the 3 groups together in the one corner it became special. I think the Crew need to get their priorities straight. We were there when nobody else in town cared about the Crew and in case they don't notice 97.1 The Fan makes a mockery of the sport everyday. We have been there through thick and thin. Not just when we get our kids on the field as mascots.

At any rate I was never prouder of the supporters tonight. The tears in the eyes of LTA when we went upstairs is something I'll never forget.

Agree on the CSC bit. I wonder what that says about our section when an action from CSC results in the reaction of the section being united. Honestly, it sounded better from the upper level than it's sounded in a long time....maybe that was because everyone seemed to be more mixed together... I don't know.

And yes, it is a fire code thing. I got talked to by someone at St. John Arena for sitting in the stairs between sections, so it's not just an "anti-Crew fan thing."

Basically the FO needs to do an open forum for the SGs once again. It was done in 08 and good things came out of it. Sadly LTA has never been fully respected from what some of them have said in the past.

I agree. If they can't see the big black letters, I hear MLS is hiring for ref positions.

The "new people" will always be one of the problems, as well as the fringe fans. I've heard through the grapevine that there are more than a few people who show up just to drink and party. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but we need them to be Crew supporters first and foremost.

I think part of the problem tonight was that LTA had part of 101 reserved. Apparently, this wasn't announced in advance. Like I said previously, if it was, I missed it.

    In retrospect:

LTA had part of 101 reserved. AFAIK, this wasn't announced in advance. It should have been, unless it was a game-day decision.
Someone(s) didn't realize that the Nordecke is a general admission policy, no matter what your ticket says.
Someone, or someones, perhaps the same people from above decided to be a little stubborn when asked to find a seat.

    So fire code? Blocking aisles?

HSH stands 3 deep in our section all the time blocking the aisles and LTA has had their drums there for the better part of 4 years and never had issue. Fire code excuse seems flimsy to me.

Perhaps we all overreacted but I think CSC (especially the dude with the grey mullet) has been power-tripping a bit as of late and frustration with them finally boiled over.

If i'm thinking what you're saying, that's fine...it's blocking the staircases that's the issue. People need to be able to have staircase access at any time.

AFAIK, if someone wants to stand on a seat, and someone directly in front of that person, no problem there.

Meanwhile, the rumors continue to fly on Facebook, and there'll be a statement in the morning. It seems like a solution was being worked on, and a bunch of people freaked it over a small issue.

I may be breaking a rule I helped set, but this goes here:

    Massive Report Article

I talked to about 10 people after the game, from FO to CSC to LTA, and they all told me the same basic story. I feel like the issue all started with one guy, a guy we all would recognize, and escalated from there. Could it have been avoided, hell yeah. But it wasn't, and it was actually handled pretty well, considering.

I do find it ironic that all this happened on a night when 1) the Crew finally put together 90 minutes of good soccer, and 2) there was a sizable group of league officials in the House.

You guys had our back during the issues with the Fort.. full support from me. This stuff is almost beginning to sound like something coordinated by the league. to try to make sure the SG around the league don't get any ideas from Seattle and Portland etcetera.. (in other words, they think we're all violent hooligans who need to be "trimmed back" every now and then)

Glad the Nordecke got together, got united and got things done.

    Good luck!

    Two things:
I have been a Crew season ticket holder for years. This year i didnt renew. I told the kids we were buying individual game tickets in the supporters section from now on. Last night was our first game.

We approached from the top. The security guy told us we can sit anywhere but the first 10 rows. I am not sure which group holds those seats but that was fine with me.

We were having a blast, even after the guy knocked the bird from the sky, the guys with the drums started leaving, then all of a sudden everyone was leaving. I saw it as a sign of solidarity. My kids wanted to move up, i told them no, that we were leaving also.

From our new section i watched as the nordecke started to fill in when i saw an an incident along the fence. I watched and saw a guy in a yellow polo trying to save a spot on the fence by extending his legs for his girlfriend while a mexican guy in a yellow headband and black bandana moved his wife (?) and 4 kids down to the fence. The headband guy slugged the polo dude in the nuts to get him to give way. CSC came to his aid and.... told the couple to move, i think, as they went back about 20 rows. I was appalled. It seemed to me that once again CSC had made the wrong call.

I am not really sure how i feel about things this morning. I feel bad people were asked to leave but its hard for me to say security should stand down when i see crap like that happening.

The leaders of the suppporters section meet once a month with the FO. Scott DeBolt hasn't been at one of these in a while, but agree it would be good to have him present.

Those were needed when there was bickering between the groups, I think if anything last night showed there's much more mutual respect than the beginning of 2008.

This was a decision made at our meeting Thursday, we tried to get the word out when we were distributing tickets that CSU was holding seats in 101 for LTA. I was also over there before the match till Turbina came in. The person who was the start of the issue stands in the front of 101 but gets there tickets from LTA so he missed that message.

As some one who was only a few feet away and tried to help mediate the situation with Big Kev when this all went down I'd consider this a pretty accurate report.

To HardHatMike, I did not enjoy handling PR (via twitter) for the Nordecke last night, you can have your job back.

Can somebody explain to me why a supporter section in a "non-supporter" area is a problem? Drums, streamers, smoke bombs, flares, flags and confetti all over CCS!

Sitting section 108 the upper Nordecke sounded great but . . .
I, for one, stand behind the Nordecke that they should not be harassed by Security. I hope that Crew Management and security got the message.

To me, this all sounds like a bit of an over-reaction all the way around, exacerbated by the problems in NE. I'm pretty neutral, as I sit in 124. I'm not one generally to believe in conspieracies. However, if you are expecting a problem then you usually will find one, even if there's not a problem. That's true of both security (and I'm not that fond of CSC) and the supporters. Then there's the fact that some people simply cannot read--you know what you are getting into if you go to the Nordecke--there are signs everywhere--and security should have pointed that out to the people trying to claim the seats on their ticket rather than what they did do. It's not the supporters groups fauilt if people won't read the instructions.
