Here is something I've been thinking about:
MLS should get it's own video game, with stadiums and SuperDraft and expansion teams. Two proposals:
    1. EA Sports should make a video game in 2012 called MLS 2012. It would be sponsored by ESPN and have Glenn Davis (regular season) and Ian Darke (postseason) alongside Eric Wynalda.

    EA features:
    1. Build a Stadium mode
    2. Academy and USL players available for MLS callups
    3. Wii speak Be an announcer mode
    4. Make your own playoff format
2.EA sells MLS rights to 2K Sports(better graphics) and have a Soccer Night in America on 2K Sports Network theme, with JP Dellacamera and Kyle Martino as announcers with Brian Dunseth as a field reporter.

    2K Sports features:
    1. EA game features
    2. Play USL and/or Academy
    3. MLS Indoor League Mode
    4. Be a Referee
    5. MLS Rewind-Play a past MLS season w/ your favorite team (Ex: 2000 Metrostars, 1996 DC Scum (sorry, but I read Metrofanatic!),2006 Dynamo, and so on.)
    6. Ability to play All star game and aquire Overseas players (NY Red Bulls No. 10 Lionel Messi!)
    Anything I missed?

just play fifa or football manager. if the premiership or la liga doesn't have their own video game i doubt mls would get one.

Won't ever work. In order for any soccer game to work these days it needs to have all of the top leagues (or at least a reasonable facsimile like PES). A single league game just won't cut it because people have gotten used to being able to play with all of the teams in one package.

It doesn't make sense for EA to make an MLS game because there won't be enough of an ROI or it will cannibalize sales on their FIFA franchise. It also won't make sense for them to build a special MLS mode in FIFA since it won't really raise sales due to it being such a niche market. This doesn't just apply to MLS, it applies to pretty much every league in the world. Outside of the World Cup (and maybe the Euros in Europe) no league has enough pull to make it worth EA's time to specialize in it. Once EA started getting the license to pretty much all the top leagues and putting it in one package, they killed the ability to make games for individual leagues.

The thing is, MLS is an American league. All US leagues, regardless of sport, have their own game. A game would increase publicity for soccer in the US, a welcome prospect. I think 2K Sports is best fit to handle a MLS game.
EDIT: Here is an old archived Big Soccer forum on the topic. A more favorable reaction.

I think we would be lucky if we could get an add on to FIFA.

I'd prefer EA adds more leagues and tournaments to their existing game.
( Still waiting for the Ecuadorian League :( )

Honestly, I think the smartest thing that EA could do, would be to either have a region specific 2nd disc, or just release DLC.

WTF? What about Be a Coach/Manager or better yet, Be a Hooligan and create a riot every match and be streaking/running around the field with flares and smoke bombs and avoid/prevent arrests from the police/security.

I just want all of the stadiums of the league of the country i live in to be included. Sucks to live in a nation that does not have a league in fifa, but i just want at least the sss in mls in addition to the ones provided.

You will be given a task to officiate a DCU game. Later on, near the end of the game, CD9 dives in the penalty box. Will you award the PK?

Wow. I'm trying to imagine how pissed people would be if this actually happened.

"Sure, in FIFA '12 you can play as Sligo Rovers, KJ Kortrijk, Dunfermline Athletic, Ajaccio, Macclesfield Town, or Neuchatel Xamax. But if you want to play as DC United or the Los Angeles Galaxy, that'll be another $60 please. And don't go trying to schedule friendlies or play online against Barcelona or Man U.--they're in the other game."

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. First of all, MLS is in FIFA; it's been in every version for years.

As for stadiums: no league has all of their stadiums in FIFA. Right now there are 50-odd stadiums in the game spread over the 30-odd leagues and assorted teams. I think the Premier League only has five stadiums represented.

I'd love to see one or two MLS stadiums in FIFA 2012, and we know there will be at least one (BC Place, in the FIFA developers' backyard). But complaining that Crew Stadium or Toyota Park or Dick's Sporting Goods Park isn't in the game when stadiums like Craven Cottage, White Hart Lane and Celtic Park aren't is a little unrealistic.

the best part about this idea is that if the ref has glitchy code, it means it's working as intended

Someone seems to post something like this every few months. I'm not sure they understand how insane production costs are for video games, not to mention FIFA and PES have pretty well covered the soccer world.

I do hope that EA can eventually think about doing DLC of stadium expansion packs, though I admittedly know very little about what kind of work it takes to create one of the stadium models, and whether they could even recoup those costs by selling them as add-ons.

I would like to see at least 2-3 MLS stadiums though. I guess at least we'll have BC Place next year. So we've got that going for us.

Yes--the Azteca is the only non-European stadium in FIFA 11. Other than the Azteca and the Amsterdam Arena, the other named stadiums are all in England, France, Spain, or Germany.

I agree. PES seems to be getting worse and FIFA keeps getting better but I still give the edge to PES. And I downloaded the MLS patch on PS3 and it is great.
