    I agree with you JCVF.

One thing that is alarming is the passing of the back four, they continue to attempt dangerous passes out of the back and give possession in dangerous positions.

We don't have any midfielder that can pass a player open, and throw a pass into a vacant spot.

Ramon needs to find his game back, he is extremely vital to this team, and he needs to take command of the team and make something happen alongside Boniek. They are not great passers, but seem to be the only ones that can get by their defenders and force the defense to break down.

The spacing of the team is horrible at times, they all seem to get close to the ball and don't make the defense defend the whole field. I can't remember the last time they attempted to change fields and move the ball from the left to the right, everything seems to be vertical. Also the players need to learn to come back to the ball, they always wait for the ball to get to them, and often times it is an easy interception for the opposition. Only Pery seems to show himself well, find the soft spot in the defense and come back for the ball; too bad that he is not too good dribbler, passer, or finisher once he gets the ball.

I have liked some of the ideas the players have had, but a bunch of promising chances have been squandered by bad passing and the players never seem to be in the same page. Often times passes go directly to the opposition with no teammate anywhere in sight, that is unacceptable for a bunch of professional players. They seem to be trying to play too fast for their abilities, they need to slow down a little bit and just use quick bursts of speed and stop going at 100 mph all the time and then not being able to cross, pass or shoot accurately.

I don't think Nunez likes to play on the right side. I think Suarez wants to keep the middle compact and blocked up with Palacios and Thomas. The offense will have to come from the SB overlapping while the wingers often venture inside. kinda like how Bayern plays.

I think the following lineup could fit the bill.

    Valladares

    Alvarez(Sabillon)---Chavez----Figueroa---Izaguirre
    ------------Thomas---------------
    ----------------Palacios-----------
    --Mario Martinez----------------Nunez----
    --------Najar(Welcome, Bengtson)-----
    ------------------Costly----------------

Thomas and Palacios would be the most important players on this team as they would have the responsibility of covering for Alvarez and Izaguire bombing forward and they would have to foul smartly and constantly to make sure we don't get caught on counters.

Alvarez is the most opposite minded player you could ever put at Rightback. He can't defend, he barely tracksback.

Alvarez is STRICTLY a rightwinger. He waits at midfield for a counter-attack in which he can use his speed into open space.

How is it sad that Noel is out only option at Goalie?? HE"S OUR BEST OPTION!!! imo he can easily be one of the best Goalie to ever play for La Seleccion. Sorry Chocolatito.

How tf do you still put Hendry Thomas in a line-up when he's been SO TERRIBLE this entire tournament. Kidding me?

    My Line-up:

    ----------------------------------Valladares---------------------------------------

    Wilmer Crisanto------------Osman------------Maynor/Muma---------------Izzy

    -----------------------------Luis Ramos---------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------Wilson Palacios-----------------------
    --------------------------------------------------------------------Ramoncito
    El Mosky----------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------------------------------Welcome---------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------Costly-----------------------------

I've really liked Muma and Osman in the middle. Haven't really messed up imo. Juan Carlos Garcia has been really good aswell. With Juan Carlos Garcia in the set-up now, Maynor can permanently move to Central with Garcia as the back-up for Izzy.

Boniek should play a midfield role where he can move freely, because he seems to be at his best when he has freedome in the mid. Wouldn't might playing Boniek in the mid along with Wilson/Ramos. Jorge Claros could've been of some use though in a more attacking scheme. He can retain possession. So can Alex Lopes who also needs a shot. for a 18 yr old he plays with some real Amado Guevara-esque intelligence.

At this point rightback is a toss-up. Mauricio lives up to his nickname "El Olimpico" seemingly dissappointing outside Honduras. imo its time to give Victor Crisanto more of a chance now or Brayan Beckeles/Quiarol Arzu. God knows they can't do any worse than what we're seeing.

I hope RoRo finally has a breakout season next Apertura.

Agreed on all accounts. Would like to add on about how Pitbull would have been helpful. Much better on the ball than Delgado, Mejia and even Thomas.

    My personal best lineup:

    ----------------------------Noel---------------------------
    IDK at his point----Osman---------Maynor---------------Emilio
    -----------------------Wilson-------------------------------
    -------------------------------Boniek-----------------Ramoncito
    Mosky/Najar-----------Marito----------------------------------
    -----------------------------Costly----------------------------

    Subs:

    Donaldo ;)
    Muma
    Sabillon/Crisanto/Arzu
    Luis Ramos
    Portillo
    Alex L
    Welcome/Bengston/Roro

I like the idea of having Boniek in the middle. Maybe Suarez should put him along with wilson, pery, and Nunez in the middle. With Bengtson and Costly up top. This team seems to play better when Pery Martinez is on the field, I have not figured out why yet.

I don't like how Sabillon is the player who has the most possession of the ball on our team. Suarez is counting on him too much, he really is not that good going forward.

We really need to work on playing from the back. Teams who press our salida seem to really cause us trouble. Particularly because neither of the back four, or our DM seem to be comfortable on the ball.

Keeping it simple here, based on my view of these fools at the stadium on Monday vs Jamaica:

Good enough for the National team (that is, players that should continue getting call ups):

Noel Valladares (has got to be replaced soon though!)

    Defense:
    Juan Carlos Garcia
Osman Chavez (hands down our best central defender)

    Mids:
Nunez (generally overrated, e.g. gives ball away much too often, but should be kept around to regain some form)
Boniek-Garcia (best Honduran player on the field on Monday)

    Forwards:
Bengston (has got to improve, but based on his work ethic (he did not stop running!), should be given the chance)
Costly (duh! he's all we have up front, though I wish we had better...)

    Should make the final cut:
    Leveron (didn't play)

    May make the cut:
Eder Delgado (showed some good qualities, recuperated a lot of balls)
    Roger Espinoza

    Don't make the cut
(assuming that we find better options):

Emil Martinez (worthless, nowadays, lost most of his speed)
Alfredo Mejia (too small and not fast enough to make up for it)
    Javier Portillo (see above)
Mauricio Sabillon (had one good game like 2 years ago, vs Costa Rica, go figure, but should be replaced)
Muma (he's not good, never was good, we need to get over this guy, and find another option)

    Judgement is still out:
Beckeles (should be tried at right back)

My, off the top, opinions. Cheers!

PS: team wise, this team is shite. You can't compete with good teams with players that are not good enough. Period.

I stopped reading when I saw Muma under don't make the cut.

I'll make sure to give the rest a read once I cleanse my eyes with soap and hot water.

I agree with la H on Muma. He should be on the team but not starting, at least not with Osman. You need to pair Osman/Muma with Leveron or Maynor.

If you put Muma and Osman and pair them with Palacios and Thomas we are destined to be pinned back.

I disagree. Out Centerbacks have been good this tournament. They have been solid, a mistake here and there but nothing egregious. Muma should make the "cut".

Muma and Chavez have been pretty good defensively. Osman in particular. I don't have an issue with their defense. I see them as a weak link in our build up of play. They give the ball away half the time on innocent or inaccurate passes.

That is why I say that you cannot have Muma and Chavez in the same backfield and expect to have a fluid passing game. I find Chavez to be the better of the two, so Muma has to sit in place of a quicker player that can at least help distribute the ball from the back four to somewhere else not in the direction of the opposition.

Every time a pass goes to Muma or Chavez it ends up in a desperate mumaso up for grabs or straight back to the goalie. In contract, I like the confidence that Leveron seems to have in himself, he is a young player that needs to be given more playing time. I think that he will be much more fluid and savy that Muma in a year or two; if given the opportunity to learn from his mistakes. Muma is as good as he will get, his upside is very limited atm.

At least we can all agree that Emil and Sabillon are no longer starting material and the new guys should be given a couple of games to see if they show some promise at their positions.

I think the main reason Muma hauls it upfield is because there is no Midfielder demanding the ball he can trust with making the transition. There are few centerbacks that are good on the ball.

    There it is.

You can't base Muma's and Osman's lack of creativity in the backfield, off the midfielders he currently has infront of him? kidding me.

Most of those fools, don't even have a decent first touch, nor do they open themselves up. Thank god Wilson Palacios will be in the starting line-up Saturday.. unfortunately his partner will most likely be none other than Hendry Thomas.

Guys, let's try to keep the topic on the gold cup and the players we have availabe at the moment.

Back four is pretty much set in stone, Garcia, Muma, Chavez, and Sabillon.

I like the idea that you guys brought up of pairing Palacios with Boniek in the middle. Palacios as a strict DM, and allow Garcia to roam forward and play
    AM.

With the options we have to stick Emil and LM and Pery at RM.

I would like to put Nunez in the hole right behind Costly, and play a more 4-4-1-1. But Costly needs to understand that his main responsibility is to stay up as a target man and hold the ball up for Garcia and Nunez to make something happen and hopefully give it back to him to put in the back of the net.

I like Bengtson but Costly and Bengtson have not looked dangerous because the crosses have not been accurate.

Just youtube the goal from Monday vs Jamaica. Who misses the tackle? Your main man. It's not completely his fault, but he makes these mistakes (where he leaves his feet and tries to purely over power his opponents, and fails, plenty, in every single game).

Again, the goal is NOT HIS FAULT, just saying most often than not, that is what he looks like during a game, on the ground without the ball.

Get off the juice bro. Everyone, everyone, wants to make this guy good.

A fuerzas ni lo zapatos entran papa!

imo none of this is Muma's fault. BAD pass started the pass that end up to Ryan's feet. Muma was already caught out, but had 3 players behind him not counting the LB and none of them came out to challenge Ryan.

imo Muma did what anyone would've done in that position..and thats slide tackle. if he would've gotten it.. it wouldn't matter cuz he's a god tier CB regardless

Congrats...but don't forget Lavolpe left out a lot of players so he can start a process for the Copa America, Olympic qualifiers, and 2014 WCQ. Honduras won fair and square...but don't think you beat our best team possible...and you guys had Alvaro Saborio and Junior Diaz on your side :p

Just some quick points before we discuss the semi vs mexico.

    1. Noel, el capitan secrecto, saved us and is one of the best penalty stoppers around.

    2. Muma gave a way a penalty, he seems to be a liability at times.

    3. I think we should give credit to Luis Suarez for calling up Javier Portillo, it shows he can spot what it best for the team and he isnt afraid to leave out players like el Zurdo.

    4. We can never seem to defend when the ball is in the air.

Noel should have gone out and grabbed that ball in their goal.

Those first 60 minutes were awesome. All that effort should have given us more goals, and then we could have defended. We did all that and only got a goal.

Noel saved us in the penalty. I just though it was a bit harsh of a penalty.

Saborio choking like he is Lebron in 4th quarter also helped alot.
