That's horseshit. I can support the team, be elated when they win and still hate a player. Rarely has there been a year I have NOT hated a player on our team enough to disparage them.

Mendoza has NOT moved on to help the team. That will only come out from his future play AND actions. You do not simply get respect because you are there and you put out a PR fluff piece. Respect has to be earned!

There is no evidence he hasn't. As much PR fluff as it might be, that PR statement was the first step in "future actions."

Do you really feel booing a guy who hasn't messed up in a game yet is really in the best interest of the team at that moment?

For the record, the last time anyone laid eyes on him on the field, he was acting like a complete clown, so I'm not sure he's "moved on". He's more than welcome to prove that, and then, when he does, I'd expect the fans to get behind him, but as of now, statement or not, he needs to actually show he's not going to play the fool today, or going forward.

I am not about to open my can of Anti-Mendoza right now because it's a waste but all I can say is that he needs to stop f-ing whining like a childish brat and start playing like he f-ing wants to be here. i rather see Meram get more time up top with jeffro than that lazy ass whining little punk!!

The only thing he's doing to help the team is carry all the equipement at practice with the rookies lol. 99% sure a ghost writer from the PR department wrote that.

And since when has he become this goal scoring God? He has as many as, what, 4? And one of those was a pk lol

Let's not pretend for a moment longer that statement had anything at all to do with Mendoza.

He probably didn't even read it.

Impossible. It wasn't blocked by a defender and out for a corner or overshoot the box.

From day one (2010) he has been a joke and it has gotten worse by each game.

Come on DP! Come on $600,000 man! Where are you?

As Cunningham is leaving the field the announcer says," At least Mendoza can't steal his thunder...." HAHA

I'm not really seeing the humor here right now. Not this soon.

Subbing him over the guy who was not on the same page with the rest of the team and constantly offside?

    Wow.

The team wasn't on the same page tonight. Don't think you can just put it on Mendoza, Cunningham didn't do a thing all night either. The entire team was pretty bad.

Cause Jeff was adding so much:rolleyes: Jeff isnt' the 90' player he used to be. I don't think Jeff should have been subbed either, but neither should have Mendoza.

We brought in Burns for a forward. That is the problem. Cunny not Mendoza added anything to the attack, but the midfield provided them nothing. No one was on the same page, and Mendoza is not the person that needs to get that blame.

I don't care. Of the two, why sub the guy who constantly wasn't working well with everyone else. Cunningham was subbed, so that begs some questions. One thing he didn't do was constantly be offside.

As said above, 2010 showed a Mendoza that refuses to challenge for any 50/50 balls or show effort. That hasn't changed. Jeff at least ran off the ball.

My question is why did we start 3 of our 4 forwards? As much as i dislike Mendoza, This failure is on RW.

And there in lies proof of fans rooting against there own, a fan quoting a Fire announcer to make his point with laughter.

    Mendoza was right.

300+ posts in this thread disparaging Mendoza, what's the joke?

Cunningham played reasonably well today for me. Checked back, held it up well, closed down on Cuesta, even sprung Meram down the line with a lovely ball. The only criticism I can possibly come up with is that he was not involved more today, and obviously that isn't only down to him.

Mendoza OTOH, there are balls played to him that are there to be won, saw it today and we've seen it all season. He wants it on a plate, and there's nothing wrong with that per se. It's just that it's almost completely unreasonable in this league. So while I understand his frustration to some extent, he just needs to work harder. Work harder to stay onside. Work harder for balls there to be won. Simples.

When required, Cunningham was the forward that was sprinting back to cover the outside midfielders when they got caught out of position. Cunningham was the the forward that was working the outsides of the field. Mendoza very rarely goes outside the central ten yards of the field. He stayed very central which is his style and how he plays.
The point of this is not necessarily a Cunny was better than Andres today, but just to point out that one is willing to put the work in, and one isn't.
To that point, I still think he's a waste at the money we're paying him.

Our best chance today (i realize that's not saying much) was on a ball Mendoza chased down and crossed into the box. I can't remember if it went out for a corner or goal kick, but Mendoza did no less than any other offensive player.
