Of course you would. ;) I talked to Sean awhile back (and we discussed it a bit in Denver) about doing a chorus of Home by Edward Sharpe at the opener. Might not become a regular in the rotation but seems fitting for the 9th.

Has anybody confirmed which songs will actually be sung at the opener? I'm bringing a few new people into the members stand and would like to send along some lyrics.

I've seen a lot of great ideas, but other than those 3 chants that were recorded and posted a while back, I haven't really seen any concrete plans.

Based on the road games we haven't really picked up many new chants this year, the main new ones are "carefree" and "I love Kansas City". Many of the other ones are the same just with Sporting subbed in for Wizards, and some remain with Wizards.

Here is a modified one I heard in Denver to the tune of My Darling Clementine:

    Build a Bonfire!
    Build a Bonfire!
    Put Chicago on the Top!
    Put Seattle in the middle!
And we'll burn the f---ing lot!

Perhaps the last line could be PG-13 and be 'burn the effing lot'.

I think they always have Salt Lake 'on the top' and replace the 'in the middle' with whoever they are playing. Chicago can always stay on top and we put Seattle in the middle for this game.

We are going to try to have something printed out for people by opening day that has a good number of songs etc on it. We are formatting it, and trying to find a printer now. This will be a work in progress though like everything else w/ the club and Cauldron.

We sang this back to them as well but not for too long because inevitably it means you are paying more attention to the other team than supporting your own.

In Chicago we also sang "You burnt your whole city to the ground" followed by, "Burn it down again".

If the printing is to much grief we could always throw a web page up somewhere with them or link to a PDF that people can print. Handing them out at the games will get them into the hands of people that do not follow online but it doesn't necessarily give people time to learn them if that are inclined enough to study.

If anybody wants this done, I have a ton of unused domains and hosting space available to throw that kind of stuff up for people to download. Just let me know.

    Hey Guys,

Christian here from Ad Astra SKC - the new ISG in Section 102.

I was at the US Open Cup game v NE and the Cauldron spontaneously started doing Britney Spears "Till the World Ends." I thought the chorus sounded great And it is familiar to many and sounds pretty decent as a chant.

Here are my modified lyrics (open to suggestions):

I Can't Take It Take It Take No More
Never Felt Like Felt Like This Before
C’mon Get Me Get Me One More Goal
Sporting What You What You Waitin' For...

WOAH OH OH OH OH OH WOAH OH OH OH..
    (Repeat x4)

With more familiarity the rest of the lyrics could easily be reworked.

Not keen on SWOTR, but would sing along.

Whatever is decided by the Cauldron let me in on it and I will make sure as many people in Section 102 (to the Cauldron's right) know about it and help spread the love

This would be very helpful because, at least i know in my groups case, there are going to be people there who do not know any of the songs. Me and some friends were lucky enough to get tickets from Sasha at the first friday event and are super excited to be involved in the group and do not want to be viewed as "hand sitters".

I am surprised no one has yet suggested "The Cave" by Mumford and Sons for an anthem.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6LTu9PdPa4"]YouTube - ‪The Cave - Mumford & Sons (on screen lyrics)‬‏[/ame]

The opening verse and chorus could be just chanting/singing no clapping

On the "Iiiiiiiiiiiiii" parts raise your arms up in a V followed by a 4 beat clap

For the instrumental parts you could get a basic clapping pattern that ends with SKC to keep time.

In the later verses/chorus you could get the bass drum going.

Just a suggestion....we should plaster the Cauldron chants all over Facebook and Twitter so people can download their own copy too. Best to do that ASAP.

They should be more readily available. I actually know of people who have tried to find them but couldn't. Unless you know to include something about the Cauldron in your google search, you probably won't find anything easily.

Is there a link currently available with the lyrics of all the current chants? If anybody knows of one let me know and I'll work on getting them up on facebook so it can get passed around. Also, I think if we had one place that everyone knew to visit for lyrics, it would be a lot easier to get new chants, especially long complicated chants started.

There's been a lot of great suggestions thrown around in this thread. Any chance we could put together a list of finalists and vote on an "anthem" to really get it started?

I remember the first game after the team was bought being in the Cauldron and doing a chant that was OnGoal LLC, OnGoal LLC, OnGoal LLC repeat. I think it would be fitting to bring this chant back from the depths tonight to honor the men that made this possible. Anyone else agree?

When I'm with you Sporting, I go out of my head
And I just can't get enough, I just can't get enough
All the things you do to me and everything you said
And I just can't get enough, I just can't get enough

We slip and slide as we fall in love
And I just can't seem to get enough, ahhh

Yeah - with the exception of Arnaud and Myers, all the player chants are out of date.

I'm not sure I've ever heard "Hey Blue" - that would be an easy one for opening day with a lot of new people in the section.

Really, with the potential of having 600 handsitters in the section tonight, keeping it simple might be for the best.

I didn't read through all the posts so forgive me if this has already been mentioned: Me First and The Gimmie Gimmies have covered Somewhere Over The Rainbow and it sounds (to me at least) more like something I would be seen singing in public. ALSO, who's to say that we can't alter the lyrics somewhere to add a little SKC flair? for example (forgive me if its lame, but I'm figuring this out as I go along):

Somewhere over the rainbow SPORTING RULE,
and the dreams that you dare dream really do come true

Some day I'll wish upon a star and wake up at LIVESTRONG SPORTING PARK,
where troubles melt like lemon drops, right behind the Keeper's net, that's where you'll find me. (I know, it doesn't rhyme but maybe someone else needs to look at it?)

and so on, and so fourth.

Why dont we use the Watch parties to work on some new chants? Makes sense no? Pass out lyrics, go through it a few times?
