Charlie Adam is not a winger. He would not replace Maxi or Kuyt.

Just because there are players who are central midfielders being linked, doesn't mean we don't still want wingers.

They're looking at players to help the entire roster. Central midfield is a position that could see some improvement or at least depth brought to the club.

Did you somehow miss were I said midfielder?

Is Meireles a winger, yet at times under Kenny he's took up Maxi's place in the team. For that matter Gerrard is not a winger yet has played on the wing/midfield right.

Do you not re-read your posts after you post them, or do you just arrogantly assume I don't know how to read properly?

I can't read your GD mind, so when you say: "Maxi... wing... we need at least one winger... Downing and Adams...", what do you expect us to think you are trying to say?

I asked a yes or no question. When I said,
Why didn't you just say: "I meant midfielders also" instead of prattling on about them being options?

Holy shit, you make communicating so difficult, yet you constantly assume it's us that have trouble deciphering your words. Go back and read your own posts!

    Meireles (28yo)
    Gerrard (31yo)
    Kuyt (31yo)
    Maxi (30yo)

Those aren't all central midfielders. But, at some point, some new blood in the midfield needs to be brought in.

Whether that's McCarthy, Henderson, or whomever. I realize Spearing, Lucas, Shelvey and others are young, but I'm not certain I particularly envision our entire central midfield being that crew.

For the long term development of this club, they do need to find a few players for the midfield and defense in the 20-25 year range who can do a bang up job for multiple seasons. Maybe those players are on the club's books now. Maybe not. I just trust Kenny and company to figure it out and spend money to fix issues.

Notice the fullstop. Do I say that Adams is a winger or do I say that he will be used to bring the best out of Carroll.

FFS I thought you matured but you're still the same old kid itching for an argument over nothing.

Oh look at that I mention midfielder.

Its a post talking about replacing Kuyt and Maxi for the wing positions. Now Kuyts not a winger, I'm surprised your pedantic self hasn't brought that up into the argument and when Maxi was out of the team with Raul, who incidentally is ALSO NOT A WINGER, filling in his position.

Well, we need younger replacements for Gerrard/Meireles especially. I think both could be injury concerns next season. So, maybe Adam is a younger version of Meireles?

Jonjo is a Gerrard-type player, and I'm sure Henderson is the same.

Spearing has shown he is capable of offering a change of pace from Gerrard/Meireles and operates well with Lucas and within the framework of the team.

My biggest concern is that we have no natural back-up to Lucas. His position is unique and can not really be filled by Gerrard at the moment. Young, French holding mid name M'Vila, perhaps?

Would it have killed you to just tell me that you think I misread your post?

Because, I certainly didn't seek to start an argument with my first comment.

I don't know that it's just as simple as saying Adam fits in to replace so and so, and Lucas could be swapped out for M'Vila.

I think they need another player or two in the central midfield, but where or what is the difficult adjustment.

I think that you can't have enough good central midfielders, and ultimately, they will find their own roles on the club as it moves forward.

Well, everyone is pretty flexible. The midfield doesn't have as many "specific" positions as it did previously. However, Lucas's role is still pretty specific at times.

We need at least one player that can hold and distribute from a deeper position. I'd love to see Gerrard develop more into that over time, because he certainly has the technique. I'm just not sure he has the IQ yet.

Downing and Henderson have created the 4th and 5th most, respectively of course, goal scoring chances in the Barclay's Premier League this season.

DC is a man of statistics, so not hard to see why we're tracking these two.

Tell you what, Henderson plays pretty well out wide right in a pinch. Not sure if that's the reason they buy him, but he looks decent there.

he broke through last year on the right.
then he got moved behind Bent.
then he got moved into a true CM role.

he is versatile, which is helpful when making a case for signing him.

That poster broke both the Suarez and carroll news.

the three or four i usually go by are oddball, tommo, and scott. Few others are a bit around, but those three seem to know more than less. scott and a few others have been sniffing around the Mata deal for a bit. It is pretty interesting, especially when Mata's not featured in their new kit stuff.

that said, I'm not getting excited until I see him touching the sign and holding the scarf.

Friedel couldn't stop talking about how much he looooves Sir Alex Ferguson on the FOX Champions League prematch show last week. I was getting sick.

Maybe, someone from the club saw it. :D

Its a big statement coming from me without any backing to it. Can we avoid all these so called english stars, half of them move clubs not for ambition or silverware its all to get an england call up. Scot Parker, Ashley Young, Downing, and before, Bent, Crouch, Owen, Barry, Milner, Lescott, Carrick, Wright Phillips, etc.
I dont blame players to move clubs to better their chances, there is every right to play for your nation, a sense of pride. But using a club as a stepping stone is plain wrong.
Money/popularity plays a big role for some players and for some its the legit chance to win something.
I want players who will fight to get on the pitch and wear the LFC crest with pride. A players who is always itching to start and I dont care if he is selfish. Winners not part time wannabes who have alternative ideas of moving to LFC. Maybe the pay package, the national chances, the popularity. Players should come for the fans for the love of football and determination to join a unit a family rather then a solo superhero attitude.

That is frightening reinforcing, once again, there is no such thing as a free transfer.

One thing I was [reassuringly] able to glean from the other tweets there is that we're not buying before we get rid of, so the Henderson, Barton and other rumours are just that.

Phew! Some of the rumours are crazy.

Saw that too and Mata had been omitted from Valencia's new jersey marketing campaign. Possibly a coincidence, this truly is silly season ;)

Would love Mata though, fantastic player, good delivery, movement, intelligence, and a goal threat as he drifts in. Not a traditional winger, more like a wide playmaker/ inside forward to me, but I think he'd click well with Suarez and would help Carroll with his delivery.

We can still setup deals, but there is an emphasis on cutting the wage bill and deadwood before the splurge.

I don't blame them. That said, if there's a guy out there they want, I don't think they mind taking him on before they unload Jovanovic or someone of that ilk. However, it makes sense tactically to sell off a guy first. If you do, you might actually get a penny or two for him, where if you wait, you figure the other club knows you want to unload him.
