Wow. Let's get Blatter re-elected. Don't want Bin Hammam anywhere near this. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-a-possibility-says-sepp-blatter-2286380.html
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34ag4nkSh7Q"]YouTube - I See Nothing - Sgt Schultz‏[/ame] We have to start somewhere, and the way to start is to follow the British lead and abstain from voting for either Blatter or Bin Hamman, showing some independence (from Warner and his CONCACAF 'voting block') and proper disdain for the two candidates.
This is Blatter's way forcing Mohammed Bin Ham to drop from the race. Until that happens, all this talk will continue. It is in the US interest for the Arab to keep going, maybe Blatter will punish him for it, by taking away the World Cup that Quatar bought fair & square. Blatter is ruthless, lol!
Why wouldn't they want to hold another vote? I would think another round of bribes would be great for FIFA officials.
I'm not sure MLS really benefits that much. The league is nearing a mature level with 20 teams, most of the league playing in their own stadiums, and attendance and tv revenue at their best levels. Hosting another World Cup isn't suddenly going to see MLS teams abandoning their own stadiums to play in 70,000 seaters. We've moved past needing the World Cup to grow the league. We might even have moved past needing the Cup to grow the game.
This is a tricky one....Blatter could get him to drop out yet have Qatar keep 2022....interesting to see if Blatter is that "transparent"....
I think you may not be cynical enough. No seriously. It could be a flat out warning to anyone who runs against him, you come at me, I cut you off at the knees. If Hammam doesn't have the votes anyways, and he probably doesn't, Blatter may demand other considerations from Hammam and his allies. It doesn't do him much good to force a guy out transparently if Blatter was already going to win, but this gives him a ton of leverage on Hammam that he can use to squeeze him for even trying.
Why do Gulati and Blazer continue to back the biggest, most blatant crook in world soccer, Jack Warner and, by extension, Blatter...??....why...?? they KNOW he's a crook...
Don't want it. Not interested in any more FIFA tournaments. We should support the Aussies in full if a re-vote happens.
There is something to be said for our supporting Australia if a re-vote happens. It seems to me our paramount interest should be to exploit these scandals to get as comprehensive a set of reforms as possible for FIFA. And our ability to accomplish this will be enhanced if we cannot be accused of acting in a self-interested manner. So let's pass on 2022 and back the Aussies if it comes to a re-vote. If it turns out that Australia's hosting the WC in 2022 rules out a bid from China or some oil-rich Middle Eastern country in 2026, well that's just um shall we say incidental.
Hehehe. I can't believe what I am reading, because I LOVE THIS. The US dropping out of 2022 in a revote completely destroys a mythology that will be batted around the Arab world that the Americans cried foul, got a revote, and get a World Cup. The US knows that supporting Australia will guarantee CONCACAF getting the 2026 World cup (Go USA) and shut Asia out for another 3-4 cycles. Even worse, FIFA will have to play in a timezone that is not conducive to European TV, and businessmen would be wary of Australia considering their bid didn't exactly impress. The businessworld will want the USA- The midday games, the big numbers, etc. Because they remembered 1994. The idea of FIFA begging for the US to host the world cup while we sat on the sidelines would be superb. Maybe the US will take the bid, but insist that our games be played in US primetime, at night, completely European unfriendly. Players would like it after the near heatstrokes of 1994, and the US audience would make 1994's numbers pale in comparison. The only thing funnier would be if Australia were so sickened by everything they too abstain. With a revote, the corruption will be completely on the table, and now FIFA would be forced to play it's world cup in 2022 in Qatar, knowing that it was bought. Honestly, I hope the US gets the 2022 World Cup. But I'd gladly give that up if I can see Blatter, Warner, and Bin Hammam all squirm with digraceful resignation, get caught in bankruptcy, or get placed behind bars. So, any revote is a win-win, and by not having one, FIFA's credibility is still lower than Dominique Strauss-Kahn's.
Actually, this is one more reason to be concerned about bin Hammam winning. FIFA can make further changes to the rules about when a player can become eligible to play for another country. Under bin Hammam, changes that undermine the integrity of the product on the field are something that we should be concerned about.
That's either the dumbest post I've seen or the worst joke I've seen. And what I mean when I say "Do they have a national team" I ment that in a sarcastic way.. You never even here about them.
Accurate. America has 50 national teams Canada Mexico United States Belize Costa Rica El Salvador Guatemala Honduras Nicaragua Panama Anguilla Antigua and Barbuda Aruba Bahamas Barbados Bermuda British Virgin Islands Cayman Islands Cuba Curaçao Dominica Dominican Republic French Guiana Grenada Guadeloupe Guyana Haiti Jamaica Martinique Montserrat Puerto Rico Saint Kitts and Nevis Saint Lucia Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Saint-Martin Sint Maarten Suriname Trinidad and Tobago Turks and Caicos Islands U.S. Virgin Islands Argentina Bolivia Brazil Chile Colombia Ecuador Paraguay Peru Uruguay Venezuela
