if all you want is netflix then get an apple tv for 100 bucks. Blockbuster is useless they are bankrupt and not as good as netflix.

Apple TV does not support Hulu. PS3 supports Hulu but only if you pay for their premium online service that I think is like 50 bucks a year on top of paying 8 bucks a month for Hulu

It really depends on what your trying to do but almost every electronic item now comes with Netflix option

I am not saying google tv is the best thing out there, and if you read my post i compared it to the PS3... but the future of tv is on the web! and we are seeing that tendency for a while already... trust me... I know, i used to own nuestrofutbol.tv and video quality was not near what it is today and was wayyyyyyyyyyy more expensive. PS3 is good, but the Xbox media center is better! I am not a fan of neither for media in the online content, it comes in handy i have to say, but they are kind of expensive. I do have to admit that netflix does work amazingly on the consoles.

Now, if i really wanted to go with the whole online content thing on my tv... i would build my own linux mce system and forget about all the other stuff that is out there, but you have to be somewhat savy to build a nice cheap system.

here is a linux mce setup with hulu desktop (like y said, you have to know what your doing so that you don't get some bugs, etc) you can't beat free! plus, you can control all your home appliances from the linux mce... have video follow you around on devices, etc... control garage doors, AC, lights, dvd player, dvrs, heck your wife if you really know what you are doing... lol

Efer what are you trying to do?

If you just want netflix either an Xbox 360 or Appletv are cheap options. If you want Hulu as well PS3 is the best option. Appletv is the only way to get itunes, apple movies to play on your TV tho other than connecting your computer to your tv.

For pretty cheap you can just connect your computer to your tv and basically do everything these machines do.

Hulu and Netflix are both 8 bucks a month and both are 720p as that is the best you can get with current bandwidth I believe.

Depends on your tv tho because Appletv only has HMDI input. So if your tv doesn't have one then it won't work. Apple TV is basically itunes on your tv and netflix tho it still needs your computer if you want to use itunes. Apples link

If you are going to rent a movie($4) from itunes or a tvshow($1) then you do not need your computer to stream music or video. Tho if you want your itunes to play on your tv then your going to have to have your computer be networked to it. It is much easier than it sounds. I did it for my dad and he loves it. One big nock with Appletv, Xbox 360, and PS3 is that when you try to watch rojadirecta on it, makes kind of a werid noise and just doesn't work like it does on my computer.

efer go on craigslist the one in boston is awesome. Or just buy a new one GPS are like 80-120 bucks for an awesome current year model. Why get a used one as the maps are probably outdated and is way way slower. I understand the money issiue but even online you cant get a used one for under $50 bucks when a new one is 80 !!

THE MAPS are updated by the GPS itself or the satellite being use in each individual brand?

It depends on what you pay for... Usually is better to pay a little more and get all the alerts and updates everything included.. I went the other way (cheap one with no updates) and they ripped me off on the updates...

There are some GPS units that have a space so one can slide a card into them. The card basically updates them: mine is like that and in order to buy them, you have to go into your GPS's manufacturer's website. In my case, that would be Garmin.

Well, updating mine, older TomTom ONE is not so difficult, you connect to USB port, use the updating application, pay off course and voila...

yeah, unless you buy something like the kindle that has its own 3g chip inside, you will have to connect via usb or use the sd card with the updates to update your gps.

honestly! lol... I rarely use a gps...unless i am traveling by road and i will find someone to let me borrow theirs lol. or! if you want to go the cheap way like I usually do... you can get one of these http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=UD-731-BP&cat=CON

and find a software to use like microsoft streets (but a free version ;) ) of course you have to have a laptop and a co-pilot... sort of!

The best advise I can give you is... what ever you get is... get something with at least 18 channels. I have a 12 channel usb one, and once you go into a place like Manhattan with the tall buildings I lose reception.

My friend used that I remember around 2005-2006 but like you said, in order for that to work relatively well one needs a co-pilot. Personally, I don't wanna be looking down at a laptop on my passenger seat if I am driving and I am by myself in the car. Hell, I barely look at my GPS if I am going somewhere: for the most part, I just try to listen to the instructions.

    yeap

    Tmobile has problems

you set up your trip directions and such, but if a phone call comes in......it interrupts the 'driiving directions' and you have to restart (we could not find the speaker feature for the phone to broadcast directions)

I guess, you need sprint or a company that can do calls, while surfing or browsing.

I have.. the iPhone 4 works great... but the gps by the ANDROID operating system phones is wayyyy better.... like metro said... i really like the voice telling me whre to go, vs looking at the screens. The iphone doesn't have any audio on gps.. i think there is an app to add voice, but not sure.
