agreed, just saying its a step in the direction as long as either wouldnt be given the reigns full time.

Do wonder though, if PV is gone, does everyone really need to go as well? Under his direction, we have grown the staff larger than ever before, would these then be "his guys" and if a change happens do they need to be cleaned out as well?

    KZ for head coach :)

I am usually not one to be on the bandwagon to "FIRE THE COACH" when the team isn't performing, but in this case I am just not seeing the point of PV anymore doing both jobs, esp being the coach. I usually say the players are the ones on the field doing the job and they need to get thier asses in gear and play like the are professional players, which they do need to, but in this case I will have say PV isn't doing the job either! I have to really think now that our players, (past and present), attitudes and lack of wanting to play stem from the coaching. He seems to be bringing the team down. I dont want the team to have a new coach every other yr or so but it's time!
I just haven't felt the excitement of the season and I see a lot of fans doing a lot of work to get people excited but it isn't there with the team, the coach nor the FO! Maybe if we get rid of PV as coach we can get someone who can motivate this team on the pitch!
Someone needs to see that we, the true fans, are there through the bad, the worse and good (been a long time for a good), but there aren't enough of us to sell out a stadium every game! With play and coaching as it is, we wont ever be able to sell out the stadium every game or even be close.
Sad to say but this time I am in agreeance, FIRE PV! :(

There is at least one person on staff with the credentials to answer those questions. I don't expect Sam Pierron to respond in public on BS, but this Master of Football Management would be at the top of my list for needed consultant services.

The second coming of Jason Kreis. I kinda like that idea.

For someone who isn't well versed in coaching changes, could you guys speculate on the chances that this happens before the stadium opening?

    .00001%

for that to happen, the powers that be will have already been wanting to can Vermes. Like James said in his latest blog, this road haul is doomed for failure, if he was going to get hte axe during or just after it, it would have/will have been because they were just looking for an excuse to do so. Candid Robb certainly hasnt said anything that would make people think this situation is anything but fiction.

I support it because I dont see anything from the body of work as a whole.

There is more chance of the stadium not being ready that Peter Vermes not coaching in it. :D

haha, was just looking at the webcam and wondering how much wouldnt be done for the first game. i its just little stuff, like on extreme homemaker when they have an hour or some before the family gets back from Disney Land and they dont have everything in order yet, but it still looks like there is a lot to do

he shouldn't be canned before the opening, you have to give him a chance at home first. Now if he loses the first 3 games he is as good as gone.

I was just thinking this too. They guy lasted as long as he did due to his intangibles and character. Something we kinda need.

KZ? Another rookie coach .... yay.

If we change coaches I want us to spend some money on somebody with experience and pedigree off the field. They don't need knowledge of MLS, they need to have proven experience motivating, developing, managing and tactically deploy players. There are certain core things coaches/managers need to do and managing the money side of things gets so much more emphasis than it needs to -- bean counters are ten a penny, being able to pulls the strings tactically and make adjustments that actually result in change is something else entirely.

I have my worries about hiring a guy with no experience on how the league works, unless we have a good TD in place that knows the rules...

Opta stat of the day, KC has dropped more points from a winning position than any other team in the league, 8 (2 in Vancouver, 3 in NE, 3 in LA)

Our opener is against the 1-3-5 Fire. If we don't win our home opener he should be fired.

Completely agree. Not a fan of us breaking coaches in.

This was actually my first thought when he got sacked. Not that there is any connection or realistic probability it would actually happen.

I think we should give PV an opportunity to let his plan play out as well. No more major resets for a little while. What he's doing may require a while to develop, especially with young players.

However, if they feel the need to show him the door, I have two words: Tommy Soderberg. He's an absolute magician, though I'm not sure he has any interest in going abroad.

Course we could be without 3 current starters (Auvray, Bunbury, Espinoza), a 18 man roster player (Rocastle), and a squad player (Thomas) for that game. So I'm sure that will be used to offset the fire if we lose.

He's been TD for 5 years and coach for 3... when exactly do you say enough is enough?

Really only sneaking up on year two, last year was his first full season. Either way I was thinking along those lines. It is not like the tactics changed between this season and last, and not like the personnel have changed that much. Absent Conrad as the only real starter to be gone and Shavar Thomas and Rocastle on the bench the personnel situation is pretty similar with Sapong taking over for Smith temporarily -- Stoichev is in but I am not sure any of us think Rocastle will make that big of difference if they switch them, although I do miss his tackling and his ability to hold possession for us. I think Rocky was massively important last year but something bigger is wrong right now ... something I have not been able to grasp fully, you should see the list of unpublished half written break downs I have ... it gets to the point where I was bitching about every player out there ...

I do feel for PV in a way - last season we had the massive drought after winning the first two games and then it all clicked after we won in Columbus and I think most of us at the back end of last season where pretty optimistic with concerns about the central defenders coming into 2011. I know that was me, I had to give him props because the season turned around in a big way and we were pretty impressive down the stretch. Hell we even started winning on the road, and showed heart and courage ...

I really did think that an extra piece or two might tip us over the edge from mediocre to competitive, so they went out and got us a primo forward who has spent the season injured and suspended. While I don't want to make excuses for PV I think this road trip is almost unprecedented and we won't really find out if we truely do suck or if the road has taken a toll until we play a half dozen or so games at home. If the players are as beat up and tired as they have looked at times then it might take a bit to turn around especially with the Gold Cup adding in more burden....

Either way nothing in this game is achieved by impatience. It took Alex Ferguson three seasons of unsatisfactory results before things clicked and he is supposedly one of the greats. Assuming PV is not the second coming of SAF I think letting it play out a bit as Abra said is fine but at the same time it would be nice to see something new to maybe think the staff are actually trying change and not simply holding fast to a system they picked because somebody was a fan of Barca or Arsenal.

Still can't believe we only have 4 points from 7 games given how many we have thrown away but frankly, changing a coach after 7 games is more than a bit hard to imagine as well. It is not like there is a big name obvious successor out there with creds.... unless I am missing somebody.

Did Jurgen Klinsman get a job? I would take Bob Bradley :)

Maybe not, but it might put an end to the annual "mobile south american center back that is complete shit" acquisition.
