See you at Hillsborough next year, Blades. Where do I send the thank you card to Danny Haynes? I know, I know, schadenfreude is bad... but after what we've been through it's at least good to even the score. So.... HA HA HA HA HA!

Look on the bright side - at least we have a nifty new away kit! Reminds me a little of the classic silver/purple one we had in 1986-87, which I wore almost every single day my first year at Mundella Junior School
those are both pretty bad. to pook's comment, it's disappointing when thinking about spurr. two years ago, he might've been our most valuable asset. as far as buxton, i've never really been a fan of his, though that might have a little to do with my bitterness over him being favored over simek. i still think simek wasn't given a good enough run of games to get back into form. irvine would give him a game here and there, and when he didn't live up to his previous performances (which is understandable given his lack of consistent playing time), he'd be yanked before he even got his legs under him again. one thing's for sure, we've got a lot of crap in the squad that's just sitting there festering. we need to find a way to get rid of at least 5-6 of 'em.
not just spurr, though ... that whole back line was going to be one for the future (or so it was thought) ... spur ... wood ... beevers ... simek ... all gone. it's really difficult to fathom how quickly it all went tits up when purse replaced wood. spurr's the toughest for me, as he's probably been my favorite owl since thome. buxton i really respect, to have been (unjustly, imvho) made the scapegoat by so much of the kop and to have kept his head down and stayed at it until even they had to come 'round. i don't know who's responsible for the delay - whether the club's holding out, or buxton's out looking for something better - but i really hope he puts pen to paper and stays at hillsborough. hopefully they'll get mellor sorted, as well. agreed terms with PNE, but his wages are too high for league 1, in the minds of all involved (save mellor). still negotiating though, apparently ...
ask and ye shall receive ... http://owlsalive.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=footy&action=display&thread=14584 buxton and o'connor re-up. that leaves jayj, i think, as the only one out of contract (that hasn't been told to move on) yet to re-sign. i am admittedly ambivilent about him, as it's unlikely that he'll develop a talent for the final ball over the summer; but he's got plenty of pace, can take on defenders, and will give megson options that he won't otherwise have - unless wednesday bring on more pace during the summer. say ... anybody here know anything about prutton?
pook can u close this one...? imma start uh new un... here it is: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=23876605#post23876605
i surely would if i could. but i'm only a mod on the spurs forum. still, given the nature of 2010/11, i can't imagine that any wednesdayite wants to re-live a moment of it ... so locked or otherwise, i'm guessing this thread is a good as done. i'm headin' to the new thread now, and i ain't lookin' back ...
well, there's no arguing with that. sums up '10-'11 quite nicely, i'd say. better late than never. cheers.
