Congratulations Monterrey in making (winning ;)) the CCL final.

Also Thank you all the fans for supporting the CCL competition, Highest average attendance with over 17K people.

You show that you are willing to support the team even in a tournament that many of you (many other fans) may not like.

Eh, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Sure, the MLS may be a league in development and dire need of attention for a reason other than being in the United States, but they...

...No, wait, let's get ahead of ourselves. Better get the Mty vs ManU tickets early.;)

We got robbed of two goals. The non-call clear handball that should be an easy call for the ref who is standing there staring at the wall, which would have been a PK. And the goal called back for offside that was onside.
No doubt RSL and MLS fans will be all proud of this as if they accomplished something big. But two goals deficited by bad officiating isn't really actually accomplishing it legitimately.

Ugh, that was frustrating to watch!! I don't understand the thought process of constant crosses into a box where clearly RSL players were winning those aerials. Yet La Pnadilla ad nauseum was doing it! Didn't seem to take more risks once around the box, well, int he second half possession was better. But still, winning by all means is the plan away, has to be.

Does anyone of the MTY fans know why the coach took out two of his best players after the first goal?

The replay clearly shows offsides on the goal you refer to. There is video available online. Check it out.

On the other hand, after seeing the replay of the free kick in slow motion, I agree, the correct call would have been for a PK. However, when I saw it live, it just looked like he was protecting himself. Maybe that's what the ref saw as well.

He's human, which is perhaps why he failed to give a clear red card to your #17 for grabbing Soborio's throat. Or why he gave the bogus yellow to Beckerman that suspended him for the return leg.

Bottom line, both teams had periods of superior play during the match, but overall it was pretty even. 2-2 was a fair result.

    1. RSL was robbed of a red card when their player got choked.

    2. The yellow to Beckerman (RSL's captain) will keep him out of the next leg. That is a HUGE win for you guys and it was an incredibly soft call.

    3. Report I heard was that the 2 changes early in the game were tactical. If so, your coach has a lot of explaining to do.

    4. You did not punish RSL's outside backs enough. They are the weak point on this RSL team, and should have been the focal point of your attack.

    5. If you don't fall asleep in the closing minutes of the game you walk away with a 2-1 win.

Given all this, I thought it was a fair result.

Sabala should have been red carded, but so too should have Saborio for the original late hit on JO. That was classless and done with malice of forethought and in that sense is much more disgusting. He made it worse by falling over wildly later, which is just simulation. Truly gross. Fine with me had they both of them went off.

Whining about the yellow card to Beckerman is just whining...waah, waah, waah, that'll be a yellow card most of the time.

But the two bad calls that influenced the match most remain what they were and they cost Monterrey two goals. RSL fans can delude themselves into thinking this shouldn't have ended 4-2 if not for officiating....I expect nothing less from them.

And calling the subs tactical is wrong. Martino is a moron and a rude jerk. Luis Ernesto Perez asked to be subbed and de Negris went straight to being iced as well.

Please. You and I both know there was VERY little contact on JO and he made a meal of it crying and rolling all over the place like a baby deer shot by sawed-off. RSL and Saborio needed a goal badly and he fought hard to get on the end of that. It's not like he went cleats up into the keeper or anything.

Again...so little contact, if any. 50/50 ball in the air and 2 players swinging through it. Point is there could have easily been no call on that and you guys got a HUGE bonus by not having to the play the captain and heart of the team in the 2nd leg. You guys got screwed on a couple calls and so did RSL.

A red card to your team wouldn't have influenced the game? RSL's captain having to sit is not going to influence the game? Good gravy.

I'm not an RSL fan. I hate RSL. But to say the result wasn't fair is flat out wrong in my opinion.

    Quotes? Links?

Regardless injuries are part of the game. If you guys don't have the depth to cope with them and RSL does that's not a ref problem.

So is whining about the refs. Sure two big bad calls went against Monterrey, and Zavala got away with a red card (Saborio got a Yellow for his late hit on the GK).

At the end is mush easier to blame the refs for his mistakes than to blame the team for missed opportunities.

Reminds me of Crew fans complaining about the ref in the Santos - Columbus game in the group stage.

Cleats up doesn't really matter. It was done with intent and late. And if anyone made a meal of anything it was Saborio, falling down when he didn't need to....simulation and injury faking were done here by RSL, not Monterrey. Embarrassing for MLS.
    Now go troll somewhere else.

It would have, but entirely trivially compared to goals.

Obviously not, since you're an apologist for them.

It showed on the TV broadcast if you were watching it. You can see Vucetich looking at LEP and doing the sub signal and asking him if he needs to come out.

This ref has a long history of problems. Brian Hall has a big job ahead in that the top refs in CONCACAF are mostly Mexicans with a few Americans. He doesn't have much anyone up to snuff for this game except perhaps one Canadian and that guy from TnT.

I'm not trolling. Wanted to see your fans reactions and simply put I was shocked you blamed that result on the ref.

IMO going down ten men is not trivial. Compared to anything. Nor is losing Beckerman. Monterrey has a HUGE advantage now in that 2nd leg.

They don't need any apologizing. The ref made good/bad calls both ways. RSL came down with an intent to score goals and they did. You guys ran them off the map in the 2nd half yet failed to create/finish enough chances, and then fell asleep at the wheel late in the game.

It was missed on my foxsoccer feed and live reports I was following said the subs were tactical. Regardless, blame the injuries...not the ref.

And good teams come prepared for that. MLS refs suck. I've gotten over it. Bad calls go both ways.

Yes, you are trolling given which forum this is.
I blame the ref for his mistakes and his mistakes only.

That late in the game, compared to lost goals, yes it is.

And yet you came trolling over to the Monterrey thread to make the apologies.
The ref made good and bad calls both ways and ones that made the most impact on the scoreline, were in favor of RSL.

It was on the foxsoccer feed because that's what I was watching.

Which has what to do with this El Salvadoran ref and his mistakes?

Note taken from mod. I can't go to other forums and tell someone I completely disagree with them for reasons stated. I'm not welcome here. Not the first time such a thing has happend to an American poster in the Mexican forum and vice versa. No problema. I'll leave.

    Agree to disagree.

    Agree to disagree.

    Then I missed it.

Not with the tone you did. I didn't say a thing in the RSL forum on the MLS news forum. I said it here for a reason.

But don't try to make it American vs Mexican. I'm an American, and not a Mexican American either.

I stated number by number why you shouldn't be upset with the refs calls. I'm sorry you didn't like the "tone" of it. I didn't come in here and call your team crap or anything. You played RSL off the pitch for long stretches of that game, but IMO the result came about regardless of what the ref was doing.

Disagreements about the calls for this game are being discussed over in RSL forum too without anyone pulling the "troll" card.

I get it. You don't want me here. I will leave and let the door hit me on the way out. Enjoy the 2nd leg.

Even with out the acting from Saborio, Zavala did deserve a red (most of the time slight chocking gets you a yellow) and Saborio did deserve a yellow for trying to crash into the GK. At the end maybe the red made the right call with 2 yellows.
