$9.50 on a weekend. For the weekday games, the Independence Pass is cheaper.

Additional rep-utable info involving some train schedule additions for Delaware fans:
    http://septa.org/events/pdf/2011-03-26-union%20soccer.pdf

I have not seen the R2 Wilmington branch well trafficked over the Wilmington-Chester portion for soccer yet, so I just wish they would add more train service/cars in the direction they are actually already being used. Apparently though, Delaware is attempting to be more transit friendly, and SEPTA must provide "extra" connections because otherwise, their Delaware schedule would have had large gaps before and after games, which perhaps explains why the weekend ridership just isn't much there on that line to begin with.

Given the $11.00 weekday independence price, or $9.50 weekend roundtrip price, plus the amount of time it can take for the next weekend train to arrive if the game lets out at the wrong time (only 60 minute headways), I just looked seriously into the bus/El routes back to the city. These cost roughly half the train, $5.10 round trip with tokens, or without tokens: $6.00 RoundTrip with exact change, 3 dollar bills/coins each way. Busses come through Chester heading up to Philadelphia/69th St Station more frequently, like twice every 20 minutes. Unfortunately, it's more than an hour on the bus vs. 30 minutes on the train, so it's only real considerable if you JUST missed the train, or if you are already a Transpass owner for work, and need to go to a weekday game (Transpass ride the rails for free on weekends, the vast majority of our games, anyway).

Families of 3 to 5 people (group must contain either 1 or 2 adults over age 18, not more or less) coming in from other rail routes, such as Jenkintown, should pay $28 for a daypass family fare, if your group qualifies for the terms on their website summarized above. That allows you to save vs. the cost of individual tickets as well.

I usually get on at 30th St Station after hangin across the street at Slainte, not much of a Union crowd in there. How is the Union crowd at Fado or Tir Na Nog if i were to get on at Suburban Station?

I usually get on at 8th and Market (as i just get off of Patco there). No idea about the bars. Too much money ends up getting spent in them lol.

Myself and two others will be getting on the train at Market East at 10:29 to make it down to Highland Ave at 11:07. Gotta get a few solid hours of tailgating in before the game.

Anyone else going down at this time?

    "sigh" nope.

    (lets try this again) -

Instead of going to Chester to tailgate, everyone should head to Pyne Poynt Park in Camden to clean up the field. It is really worthwhile - honest....

(hears a pin drop as nobody even thinks about giving up lots of food and booze to go to Camden NJ)

I was thinking of taking that train or the one after it.

A 10:34 departure time from Suburban Station (my closest station) seems a bit early considering I'll be doing some not-insubstantial "pre-gaming" the night before.

I'll give it the ol' junior college try, though.

I'm bound to pass by some people i think... hitting the train down to suburban, then taking the BSL meeting a friend at CBP cause he is doing the 5k tomorrow, and then heading down to Lot A to tailgate... should be at the lot no later than 12.

Can't. Working at the tailgate from 11AM. 400+ people to feed.

I'm grabbing the 1230ish train. Is there anywhere around 30th St. to pick up cold 6 packs or cases? I'm coming in from out of the area so not familiar with what is around there.

Springfield Distributors is just across the South Street Bridge from Ucity station. I'm not sure about 6-packs though. Maybe Slainte by 30th st. sells takeout?

Well, we've certainly had a big turnout so far. Last year, I was usually the only one at Ucity, but I saw at least 20 people after the NYRB game. Keep it coming, and maybe we'll eventually get SEPTA's attention for more service. Also, feel free to hassle them online for a gameday express train:

Maybe we can complain about the Septa employee threatening to not let us on if we banged on the doors again - despite it being a Septa employee doing it (to which he replied "i don't care")....

I'll be getting the train again on Saturday. DOOP.

I don't think that would accomplish anything, other than possibly get you in trouble. You're not supposed to bang on doors, it's their property and it's a safety issue.

Ehhh, nobody was banging on doors (didn't you read the part that it was a Septa employee doing it?)

depending on how this whole tailgate thing doens't happen i might be taking the train into the city after the game provided i can find a ride to the game from conshy.

i have no idea where teh train station is so i might need to follow people.
