We will take him over here in LA! How about straight up for Magee and Barrett? :)

I didn't catch the game but I watched the match highlights and he was an integral part in nearly every great offensive maneuver you guys had. Sure he wasn't the guy at the end of the product but he was putting together stuff that could have won you the game.

I think you guys are a bit harsh. Give him at least a whole season.

This is our first bad result of the season and people are losing their minds.

We played great. We dominated the entire second half, rained endless shots on them, etc. We got a bit unlucky, and Tally Hall put up his second tremendous game in a row (he did the same thing @ Seattle).

We won our first home gome, drew on the road with our backup team and 3rd string keeper.

This was the first result that was less than it should of been, and the goal we let up was thanks to Bouna losing his mind.

    Let's all calm down.

Give DeRo a week to actually practice with the team, etc. Big things are coming.

Don't worry, this thread pops up every single time the team doesn't win regardless of how he plays lol

Your right on.. Henry did a hell of a lot against Houston.. Its just we have too many clowns who think we should have kept on Tchani, Connor Chin, Irving Garcia, etc, etc., etc..... Its the same people that b1tch about JPA leaving when he was clearly thru last night... Good luck wtih him this year, but I haven't seen much from him to be honest..

He's already put more goals in than Henry and it wasn't a penalty kick.

Ok. O Brien White also has one goal this season. You want him over Henry?

Henry is a nice guy and I like him, but as an Arsenal fan I can tell you that his last years at Arsenal he had back issues, and in his last year his production was way down and they played better without him.
That is why they sold him for a knocked down price to Barcelona and I do not remember him ever lighting things up at Barcelona, his last year or 2 he was a bench player.
I hope i am wrong but he will never be a top forward in MLS, for the type of money they are paying him he needs to be one of the top 3 goal scorers in the leagues, not going to happen, not even close.

RB isn't paying him to be one of the top 3 scorers in the league. He is paid to put a public face on a relatively anonymous NYC franchise

Horrible display from Henry tonight. Looked like he wasn't even trying. Just standing around waiting for the perfect pass...and when it came...screwing it up.

If he's injured, fine. Otherwise this is a problem. We need a guy up top who is hungry for goal. Henry doesn't look like that guy so far.

I am beginning to wonder if there is something physically wrong with Henry. He just looks so slow out there.

I haven't seen him challanging for a single ball yet.

Just as a side note, his strike partner Rodgers has attemped as many shots on goal as I have, 0. He looks like hes no better then the local Sunday league player.

I have an updated answer to the original question on the thread ("Henry, Is This How He will Be?").......

The answer is "NO"......he's only getting worse. :(

    Seconded.

    That's cause he hasn't.

I'd take Rodgers giving a shit any day of the week over Henry's standing around. Neither are producing results, but at least Rodgers looks hungry.

Watching him last night, the commentators said that Henry hasn't scored since last September--something like 500+ minutes without scoring. I couldn't help but be reminded of Juan Pablo Angel and how he had that streak of consecutive games without scoring from the run of play. Henry looked ineffective at trying to score last night and at times seemed lost. If he wasn't a good passer he would be useless, but fortunately his passes and set ups inside the box are usually first class.

A serious question from one who follows MLS more closely than international soccer -- exactly what is it that are we SUPPOSED to be getting from Henry? A targetman? A setup man? Someone who can create his own shots? Some combination of the above?

Henry looks disintereeted in competeting fot the ball even in the air at thispoint. Last night was not a good sign again as maybe he is here just to do MSG interviews and "the little things" that a superstar should do without the "big" things? Getting very concerned here.

I would say that when he was signed MLS and Red Bull were expecting a targetman with inside the box dribbling abilities--someone who would lead NY in goals scored. From what i've seen so far last year and this year it seems that what we actually acquired is a very good setup man with a sprinkling of scoring ability. Enough scoring ability to make the defense nervous and double cover him at times. It is curious to note however that when he has scored it seems he has done so by poaching. Although he may no longer have the physical ability to be able to shake his defender and score on a consistent basis, his experience and savvy mean that he almost always will be in a good position to get to the ball that becomes momentarily free inside the box or he will pounce on a defending mistake and make the team pay.

All that having been said, it should be noted that so far this year his aim has been off. He's missed a few goals. Eventually he will score--that is not in doubt, the question is will his on the field performance in goals scored this year equal the investment the club and league have made in him?

A better question may be - would we be better with 10 men than with Henry. He's clogging up the middle and taking space that DeRo could be occupying. Okay, I'm exaggerating with the 10 men thing, but I'm starting to wonder if someone else wouldn't make us better.

And the thing that really chapped me last night is that Backe is sticking with him when it's clear he's not making an impact - taking out Richards? Bringing in Ballouchy? I would have been much happier with Rodgers for Henry, let DeRo be the playmaker and put Rodgers in front of him. We're chasing a goal - wth does Mehdi bring? Much rather have Richards and Rodgers stretching the backline.

If we are having to play the guy even when he sucks, it's a double whammy.

I think this is the problem - Henry doesn't know what he is anymore - he doesn't seem capable of creating his own shots - and he isn't really doing tons of setting up others at the moment. The guy obviously has buckets of skill - but he barely seems interested in making much of an effort. He stands around in the middle waiting to be fed the ball and too often we send it to the wings for crosses that have no target. If he had more than just that one run down the side beating two players, I'd be a fan even without goals.

It's still early, but I'd rather see a game where DeRo doesn't have to defer to Henry and maybe let Rodgers run up front with Agudelo. If we're going to play the homeless man version of Barcelona, we might as well have a midget up front.

He had a shot blocked last night that was the hardest I've seen him strike a ball since he's been here. Hopefully we start to see more of that Henry...

Henry looked pretty good when he first came here. In the Man City game he looked really good and I thought he still had the talent to play at top level teams.

He needs to play as a target man since that is what we are missing since JPA has left.

I would like to see this lineup vs san jose

    --Henry---Agudelo---Richards
    --Lindpere--DeRo--Teemu
    -Miller---Ream---Raffa---Solli

Use DeRo as the attacking mid type of player and let Henry/Richards man the wings. I also feel that Marquez should play in Midfield as we are wasting his ability as a CB..
