You can watch most of the matches live at concacaf.com and also espn3(with amazing quality especially through xbox live!), at least if you live in the US, might work in other places but I dunno. BTW: You didn't include Costa Rica in the poll, not only are we the current U-20 Concacaf champions but we also made it to the semi-finals of the last U-20 world cup.
They would be other. lol I actually messed up, I think I put el Salvador and not Costa Rica, I think El Salvador was not allowed to play and C.R. took their spot.
Ticos got mad that they lost to El Salvador so they looked for any mistakes that the Salvatrucho FA made..found Correa, annnddddd BOOM! they're here.
Don't worry, a lot of ppl in CR were very upset we got in through politics and wanted us to remain eliminated, but at the same time, maybe El Salvador shouldn't have fielded an illegal player? Mexico did something similar in the 80s with their U-20 team during the qualifiers, and not only did they get disqualified from the U-20 WC, they also got disqualified from participating in the major WC in Italy 90.
Mexico's case and El Salvador's case were different which is why the punishment was different. Besides Mexico got banned from Italy when they appealed their initial punishment so I am not sure how these 2 cases were similar beyond the fact that they involved youth squads. Our players and our country got punished because our FA didn't mail a letter to FIFA, Mexico fielded overage players. The punishment strikes me as not only excessive but it punished the wrong people. Our players didn't do anything wrong our FA did but the only ones that were really punished were our players.
Costa Rica barely gets to this point on a technicality, and now they look good enough to qualify. Strange how these things happen in this sport. I remember the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifying, where CR barely got through the semifinal round, having to get through a forced playoff with Guatemala because both were tied on all counts. Then in the hex CR finishes first.
FT: Mexico 5 - 0 Trinidad & Tobago Goal 1: Guarch Goal 2: Guarch Goal 3: Pulido Goal 4: Pulido Goal 5: Guarch Top Scoring and defensive team in the Tournament so far 8 Goals For & 0 Goals Against..... Hopefully we can keep this up against Canada.
Well, of course you have to realize the weakness of the opponents you faced. This seems to have been by far the weakest group. Mexico will be favorites against Canada, but I feel pretty sure that it won't be that easy.
I hope these two wins (massacres) don't get to there heads...Canada is definitely not T&T or Cuba and will be much more of a challenge the kids seem grounded and im sure they will not take them lightly so hopefully its a good game and we win
Looking at Wiki it either has the brackets mixed up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_CONCACAF_U-20_Championship or Concacaf's official regulations are messed up. http://www.concacaf.com/staticFiles/67/6f/0,,12813~159591,00.pdf Normally I'd go with the official document but this is Concacaf and I trust Wikipedia more.
Yes youth tournaments not always the best measurement of future success. I mean look at Hernandez, he was cut from the sub-17 and I do not think he started for the Sub-20 in Canada. Actually he only played 95 minutes. http://www.fifa.com/tournaments/archive/u20worldcup/canada2007/teams/team=1888278/statistics.html
can't stop laughing as to how Cuba only scored one goal so far in this entire tourney, and it can be enough to see them in Colombia this year.
Two clear PKs conceded and should have been three. Looks like Cuba doesn't want to go the Colombia after all...
when did costa rica decide to bring their u20 diving team to this tournament? what are you smoking? that kid campbell is pretty good.
With the amount of hacking Cuba was doing in the area, it was only a matter of time before the penalties came, even if those specific ones weren't.
Were you watching on ESPN? Cause the mexican commentator kept screaming about those two stupid penalties through the whole match, we got 4 other goals to make up for it, even if those weren't the best calls.
