According to this article Maurine is already under contract with the WNY Flash. http://www.ffnews.com.br/noticiasOpen.php?c=7e041289f2f1150a485f
She wasn't on the official 28 player roster released by the Flash a few days ago. Also, they would have 7 internationals then. Thats my whole question as to if they did sign Maurine, who is getting the boot.
Internationals I think that 6 may be the limit this year. How did you get to 7? Chappie will be the anchor of the defense and will certainly not be dropped!
Are you sure Kelly Parker doesn't have a green card? She quit a job with UTEP to join WPS the first year.
According to Ex_SkyBlueFC_GM she counts as an international. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=22993788#post22993788
Well it seems the Flash have confirmed Maurine is coming with their tweet today to this link: http://translate.google.com/transla...ticias/conteudo.asp?id=24035&sl=auto&tl=en-us http://twitter.com/#!/WNYFlash Interesting to see which international gets dropped..
In an interview w/ All White Kit, Coach Aaran Lines declined to confirm or deny any negotiations or rumors concerning Maurine.
Here is the answer to Maurine: Source: Seger obtaining U.S. residency, clearing way for Maurine BY JEFF KASSOUF, ON MARCH 25TH, 2011 Western New York Flash midfielder Caroline Seger is in the process of obtaining U.S. residency and should soon be granted it, a source close to the situation revealed. That clears the way for Brazilian star Maurine Dornelles Sirens, who has been linked to the Flash. Western New York’s roster currently features the maximum number of six internationals: Seger (Swedish), Christine Sinclair (Canadian), Kelly Parker (Canadian), Candance Chapman (Canadian), Gemma Davison (English) and Marta (Brazilian). Ali Riley is a New Zealand international but has U.S. citizenship and does not count against the international player cap. By WPS rules, a player that holds a green card or U.S. residency does not count against the international player allotment, so Seger’s pending change in residency allows the Flash to add Maurine. The Brazilian is not expected to arrive in Western New York for several weeks. She is still in the process of obtaining her visa.
I think the only way the Flash will get stronger is if Messi, Ronaldo or Drogba have gender reassignment surgery and don a Flash kit. Wow, what a line up!
sahlen is serious. borislow seems serious altho i don't understand him. hopefully their commitment lasts. we need several more owners like them to sustain this league.
Wow, the addition of Maurine is huge. The one thing that had been bugging me about their lineup is that they didn't seem to have a truly creative force in midfield who could unlock a bunkered defense (a la Camille Abily). But with Maurine, that problem is solved in a big way.
i'd like to see maurine first in the wps. definitely a GREAT pickup by the wny flash but so far most brasilians havent done that great in the wps outside of marta and formiga, but maurine will have the benefit of marta on the field which cristaine didnt. anyway...i only see 2 teams playing them this season. philly because they are very athletic uptop with a-rod and kia and should be killers on counter attacks. obviously, magic is LOADED at forwards and midfield and has a hlthly hope in net. i think boston shot themselves in the foot letting faby go. great defense so they can hold the back but they have no real winger who can run down the lines, and dont stand a chance playing half court i think with wny or magic. what's the over and under on how many goals wny will score?
I'm just worried about what will happen when World Cup players leave. The addition of Maurine is yet another player that will be gone whenever Brazil calls their players. However, post World Cup.. this team will be a force.
YES we do....but the majority of people or fans seem to bash them from what i've seen on these message boards.. Don't have to always like the owners but they do seem to be serious. I do like both teams players and hopefully fans will support the players whether we care for the owners or not....will be interesting to see how all this pans out
Western New York Flash Rose Augustin Yael Averbuch Brittany Bock Ashleigh Bowers Kim Brandão Brittany Cameron Candace Chapman Gemma Davison Becky Edwards Whitney Engen Kaley Fountain Mele French Beverly Goebel Ashlyn Harris Gina Lewandowski Marta Alex Morgan Kelly Parker Elli Reed Ali Riley Alex Sahlen Christine Sinclair Caroline Seger Kandace Wilson McCall Zerboni Maureen will alex sahlen get cut or is she good enough to actually make the roster in the #24 spot? did someone say she was related to the coach n owner? actually, if you drop marta off of their roster, i think magicjack is a better squad player for player.
I wish my dad owned a multi-million dollar business so he could buy me a WPS team. Up until the official rosters were announced I thought that Alex Sahlen was reportedly going to be taking on an administrative role..and then boom, she's on the roster. For everyone's sake I hope she's actually good enough to be there. I am really liking this roster. The bulk of the non-WWC bound players are pretty impressive. Bock, Wilson, Lewandowski, Zerboni, Fountain, Edwards, and Cameron have all been on highly impressive club teams with FCGP, LA Sol, and FFC Frankfurt all represented. If Sitch is really on the roster then there's another WPS champion from SBFC '09 added to the mix. There's a lot of experience and leadership there to step up and be successful without the WWC players. And I haven't really even mentioned the strengths of Engen, Reed, Augustin, Davison, Parker, Goebel, and French, who has impressed in the preseason. I'm incredibly optimistic about this squad.
How do you guys know? She may be actually a good or serviceable player. That's at least one salary they don't have to worry about
she is a good defender and hard on the tackles but there's still entertainment value making jokes about her on the roster. no one is being serious. yep, her 12.5K salary can go towards marta's cell and suv lease.
Elli Reed is flying to Boston tonight to join the Breakers, after getting her release in WNY She'll begin training with us tomorrow.
