is traffic a bitch getting to the stadium? I may have to drive this time from upstate and I won't have a whole lot of time to get to the game.

I would hesitate to compare the attendance today to actually 14 to 15 yrs ago when the league first started. #1- The initial huge excitement from the 1st league since NASL plus there were quite a few of those home games last year where attendance was boosted by some doubleheader with a big headline game boosting attendance. A more fair comparison is comparing attendance (excluding the Beckham game) since 2001. I wish more of this data was more easily available.

However, I do agree that I somehow think this team should complement their underground marketing via avenues such as facebook with more in your face advertising via some more billboards and some other targeted advertising maybe on some key cable channels such as FSC, etc...

I haven't seen any advertising at all. Even the Yankees advertise, and they sell millions of tickets.
You need to advertise. they have plenty of money for TV commercials, billboards, radio spots, online ads, etc.
They could even advertise on their soda cans in the tr-state area by putting a schedule & web-site on'em. I don't know

    Do something.

    Hi, guys,
do you know how difficult could be selling tickets for the game. I have two, maybe four midfield tickets. But I don't know how to do the whole thing. Any advice appreciated.

Park in Seacaucus and take the train to Newark and walk.

    It's baffling they don't

    I gave them a year.

To not sell out is inexcusable.

This ticketing and marketing department needs to be fired immediately.

Better yet, Red Bull needs to sell NOW as it is becoming increasingly obvious that while they may understand the game on the field, they have no clue when it comes to selling said product in this market

Selling is not difficult. You've got craigslist, stubhub, etc. But selling at face value unfortunately will be nearly impossible with the market being flooded with tickets.

Just saw a tweet from Brian Lewis (NY Post) saying Nielsen is practicing with the team again. Not sure that will matter for this game.

Good news coming out about Agudelo. Also good news about Rodgers progressing along. Who knows if it means Juan can go the full 90? That would be fantastic though as it would hopefully push Mehdi to the bench and Richards back to midfield.

It is good that some guys are getting healthy. Also still hopeful about Solli and Tainio although Solli's injury didn't sound especially serious. Tainio is a bit to worry about because he has had injury issues before and he did look to be in quite a bit of pain last week.

I'm guessing Agudelo for the first 60 and Rodgers comes in after that.

Per Ives, Agudelo ready to go 90. Good news.

Per Dyer, Stover says already 20,000 sold for Saturday. We can expect the rest to be sold, can't we? Hopefully everyone shows up.

I'm wondering if Solli can play on the left side? If so then dropping Richards back into that slot, and pushing Ballouchy up into a withdrawn-striker may be the ticket.

Sounds more like the dreaded 4-5-1 with Ballouchy in that spot.

Nothing is official yet but I find it very hard to believe they won't televise the game. I don't think RB will get what they want from the TV deal but I don't think they are stupid enough to not televise the games.

I am starting to get that season opener itch... It is earlier this year but the itch is there...
Can't believe no advertising to promote the game but apparently there is close to 20K sold for the game.... see the nypost link in my post above for more info on this.

Same here, cannot wait for the season to start. My mom's birthday is on saturday so I cannot make the game, but will DVR that bad boy if I'm not home and go to some games in the summer once school ends and I'm back in New Jersey

    Wow.

Last I heard a few days ago it was about 13/14k and many tickets selling below face on various ticket sites. I feel a little better about 20k

I still want to see an average of about 20k for the year then I'll take back the bit about them being fired.

I'm also hoping the entire center isn't empty like many games last year.

After tonight's game I'm not much afraid of Seattle. Their midfield lacks cohesion and creativity, the two guys who are supposed to create for them (Friberg and Fernandez) were very impatient with the ball tonight and gave it away constantly even when they had space to move and think. Their strikers didn't have much a bite either, Montero as usual looking to shoot from 40 yards out and other than his one close touch off a cross White didn't look dangerous at all.

If RB can keep possession in the midfield and find some good runs behind the defense like LA did tonight then I think we will win our opener.

You speak the truth my friend!..

That team in green looked like garbage tonight. OSCAR FC, get it? Ya know, cause they’re green and they’re garbage?:D.. No, but seriously, if we can’t beat them after a bad loss at home to LA, a cross country trip, and on a short week to top it off.. we may be in trouble.

PS – Did anyone see those new Seattle kits, didn’t think they could get any worse, but somehow they find a way.

this is the truth, people are sweating our central midfielders and the lack of creativity but this is MLS and there are just not that many of those types. Like Seattle, our wingers will key the attack for the most part, along with deeper passes from our 2 CBs.

    I see a tight 1-0 RB win.
