Looks like Renteria is going to play for Caldas soon once he gets officially transferred by Porto. Would be funny if he comes back to haunt Inter later in the tournament in a knock outstage.
Looks like el "Messi Guarani" Iturbe is gonna be playing with Cerro against Colo Colo tomorrow. http://www.ultimahora.com/notas/403790-La-vuelta-de-Iturbe-a-su-casa-de-barrio-Obrero
It's always nice to see him play and our fanbase loves the guy. But I think we got a bit more firepower than most teams out there. Cavenaghi, Rafael Sobis, Leandro Damiao and Alecsandro. We got 2 excellent forwards and 2 excellent replacements. The guys in the bench would be starters in any South American team. Once Bolatti is up and running and if Tinga finds his form all we need is a goalie and Colorado becomes a serious contender for a 3rd Libertadores Cup.
Hey I know your teams is successful and has a lot of fire power, no doubt. It just would be interesting to see Caldas play Inter in a knockout stage.
Walter Montillo and Roger are playing well tonight. I liked that chapeu dribble Roger had at the end of the half. Overall, nice presentation, but Cruzeiro needs to be calmer and more composed. I'd say Estudantes da Prata is better in that area; and, the solid passing game they exhibited in 2009 is basically intact. I think it's likelier Cruzeiro will score a 4th goal than Estudantes scoring its 1st. It will indubitably be an interesting match on Estudantes' home turf later on.
Colorado, in your opinion, who is the strongest Brazilian contender this year? Certainly your team was reinforced after the Club World Cup and it has many of last year's roster. But what's your overall take on Cruzeiro, Santos, Fluminense, and Gremio? (And dude, please keep it "neutral" - I know you hate Gremio, but tell me what you think of their team not as an Internacional fan and rather as a soccer fan.)
I thought they'd lose in Brazil, but they are really getting their ass kicked! Speaking of Argentines in Brazilian clubs, Montillo scores two for Cruzeiro.
I have to reassess my predictions for this tournament. As crisp as Estudantes' passing and ballhandling were, they looked a little old and slow at times. Veron is still great, but he's definitely past his prime. Cruzeiro, on the other hand, was lithe, agile, and consistent; they kept pressing forward even when they came back for the second half with a comfortable 3-0 lead. They have quick players whose speed tormented Estudantes. And as the game went on, they improved their marking - even Mariano Closs and Fernando Niembro remarked on Cruzeiro pressing Estudantes. Other than some of them losing their nerves early on and getting yellows (although Amarilla seemed a bit lax towards the Argentines), this Cruzeiro team impressed me tonight. I look forward to watching more of its games. The other Brazilian team playing tonight, Internacional, drew 1-1... Emelec scored at the 49th minute of the second half. Not a bad result given Tinga was injured and given they were actually ahead on Emelec's turf. Grêmio will also represent Brazil tomorrow at home against Oriente Petrolero.
Wilsterman, 2nd division Bolivian team, taking it to Jaguares... they've been close to scoring, game still 0-0 in Mexico.
Clásico del norte de Santiago: Unión Española-Universidad Católica 2:2 Monje(UE), Pratto(UC), Meneses(UC) y Leal(UE,de penal). Tabla 1ra fecha: 1. Vélez Sarsfield(ARG) 3 2. Surprising how bad this Once Caldas is. Also, surprised at the lack of ideas of the Pinchas. Looks like if Veron is not having a good day, the team is not having a good day. San Martin a surprise. They've played very well, solid in the middle and fast in attack. I can see them topping this group.
I think we may have seen the last hurrah of estudiantes last apertura.. Veron is now 35, Desabato and Braña are both 32... not only have they aged, but sabella walked out on them a week ago... whatever i'm happy, its been tiring seeing them winning all the time, that and desabto is probably the biggest scum in the world and the englishman veron isn't much better
Victorino was solid in defense yesterday. I'm still impressed at how slow and static Cruzeiro made Estudantes look last night. Too bad the rematch is almost 2 months from now.
