    Cliffs Notes verision :

30 man Maximum Roster - 1-20 (though it can be few as 18 if a club wants) are salcap eligible, 10 (and ONLY 10) are Off Budget.

Off Budget includes all Gen Adidas players

Clubs can sign up to two homegrown players to GA Contracts (they can sign as many homegrowns as they like, just not to GA contracts)

Soler say that is coming 1 maybe 2 more players, that will make 34....

4 of this players hasn't signed yet, Maurer, Cortes, Sneider and Lassiter...

I have 12 Internationals too, the only difference is that I have Sutton as one and not Ballouchy...

Some body knows if the RBNY has buy Internationals spots this year, because we only have 10 spots and if the players that Soler say is coming arrive, then 3 or 4 of this Inter. have to go....

You should include the salary(estimated) of each player..

Also separate the senior, GA, Homegrown, international and trial players.

Our look at the roster heading into pre-season over at The Viper's Nest includes salary information. Keep in mind that it's tough to seperate which players go on the senior roster and which go on the "off-budget" roster because MLS did not indicate in their press release what the restrictions are for a player to be eligible to be off budget.

Which is exactly why I didn't bother adding the salaries.

However, I did add GA and HG designations - the International slots were already broken down

When I hear word of trialists (I think there is one that Petke recommended already there), I will put those up as well. We'll probably find out more about that once they hit Arizona

I'd prefer to have the set up more or less by position if possible

I'm fairly certain Ballouchy holds a green card.

Assuming Sutton also has one, that leaves with 11 guys who either joined the team last year or this year who are internationals. Will be very interesting to see how that gets resolved. Will we trade for another slot or is someone going to be a surprise cut?

Don't forget there is talk of two more players being brought in. I can only assume that these too will be internationals. The Red Bulls will have to trade something of value (which could be players) to gain those slots and/or the allocation money, or else dispense with some current internationals. So assuming there are the excess in rostered players is taken up largely by internationals, then there will be considerable pressure for the team to simply cut some in order to stay within the rules. Now they could of course dump some of the kids; but that isn't the way wind is blowing right now. They're cheap, the internationals are expensive. In other words, Dump Salou! But that's just me.:)

    metz,

What do you mean by "dev?" There is no longer a developmental roster. Just "On Budget" aka "Senior," and "Off Budget," aka "Protected." (In an interview yesterday on the ExtraTime podcast, MLS' EVP in charge of the roster rules kept referring to the rosters in those terms, anyways.)

You will have to move 4 of your off budget guys onto the budget, and then cut 2 players. Of course, the Injured List will probably come into play before pre-season ends, and save a few players for a while.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this pre-season plays out.

    Developments....

All time as you want to make a difference by why the 21-25 players have a minimum salary of 42K and the 25-30 a minimum of 32K...You have to use something to differentiate one of the others....Like I say before, you can call them whatever you want, form me they always have been called Dev so I will still used that title...But you have to use something you wanted or not because is a difference in this two groups, one group have a minimum salary of 42K and the seconds of 32K...You tell me...

All players pick in the Super draft if they are offer a contract have to be 42K minimum... and the rest of players pick in the Supplemental they can be signed to a contract of 32K minimum and so on, and so on....

    If we don't use this different titles we never will understand the dimensional bull shit of MLS;

The players from 1-24 the minimum salary is 42K, but the players from 1-20 have a guaranty contract and the 21-24 don't, so we have to call samething else because of the difference in they contract...

Now, the players from 21-30 don't have guaranty contract but, the players 21-24 make one minimum of 42K and the 25-30 only 32K, here too we have to differentiate them because of the salary...

    Comprende compadre...

I thing that in the whole history of the Metro.RB never we has a so strong team like this one, the only problem is that so far we have 12 Internationals when we only can have 10 and they are bringing two more and that will create a problem that I will like to know how they will resolved....

(Maybe the trade of Hall will resolve this enigma....)

Dude, this is the MLS where the rules are never really fully interpreted until after the fact. They are never set in stone and can always be traded for other stuff. It will work out. don't read the rules and you will be better off.

I say at the beginning of last year that I will wait to give my opinion about Soler, Backe and Co...And now I'm ready to say that I think this happen is the best happen on the Metro-RBNY history, they have a vision and showing it to us that we loosed long time ago, right now the reserve team is much better than the 2007 and 2008 first team, and mostly old this players don't will be ready to give us some satisfaction until maybe 2013 and that is a fantastic thing....And for the first time I'm very optimistic....

Great, stay positive and give Miller and Albreight a chance and don't get down on them if they have one bad game out of 10.

Did the alphabetical sort and added Teemu. Any other trialists I'm missing? What happened to Petke's buddy?

Stephen Keel (central defender) is a trialist who has appeared in both friendlies. Also, goalkeeper, Alex Horwath is on trial and played the second half of Saturday's friendly.

I also need to point out that any team is allowed to eat one guaranteed contract per year (i.e if a player is not on the roster any more his guaranteed salary will not count against the cap even if the contract is guaranteed)

I hereby dub thee the Salou Ibrahim Rule.

Yeah, even if they've got to hand over the cash, I really think the roster spot is worth more than he is.

On the other hand though, he is seemingly the only striker of his type we've got. That might make it more likely he stays.

I still feel like we've *got* to be short on international roster slots though. It's crazy.

To this players we have to add Solli, Rodgers and Teemu for a total of 14, possible they will buy Salou 2011 contract, but still they will need 3 more spots to accommodate all of them....

Solli and Rogers are already on that list. Also, we can take Ballouchy off that list - he has a green card. So even with Tainio we're probably at 12 internationals.

I would love it if a reporter directly asked about this. Would just like to hear a brief explanation from management on where all these slots came from.

As i stated in another thread, or it may have been this one;). It's MLS they make sh@t up as they go.

If it will make you feel better,

Rule 1943-65a: Teams can only have ten internationals on their roster. If they have more, then teams must use the "Oh Wells" card allowing them to have more. If they've already used their "Oh Wells card" then they must use their "whatever make up a new rule card", which can be used only once per team per season unless of course they still have thier "Yeah Right" card.... If all cards have been exhausted then teams can ask for a special supplemental card which is not to be confused with any draft or supplemental draft or super secret supplemental draft lottery.
