The only premiership club that still has a bit of atmosphere left is probably Liverpool. The rest of them are like libraries owing to ridiculous rules like not being allowed to stand on your seat and season ticket prices pricing all traditional fans out of the stadium. So atmosphere wise, even De Graafschap would be a massive step up for your average premiership fan.

It's pretty funny, one Ajax fan is saying that Twente play boring football, the next that our stadium is shite, then a fake Feyenoord/Ado fan slagging off Twente on top of them. You know when people feel a strong need to slagg you off that your club has arrived.

Are you sure that you as an Ajax fan want to be slagging off any pitch. I mean I know ours is (well was, we've got a new one now) shite, but I'm not quite sure it's an Ajax fan who has to point that out.

Wrong. It means that people find you obnoxious.

The irony lies in the fact that it didn't stop you from continiously "slagging off" the ArenA's pitch (or the stadium as a whole like again in this thread) in the past. :p

ahh how nice.. I bet that If you ask the boys of Maccabi Tel Aviv they will come with even a better story about the boys of 410.. I remember Ajax and Maccabi fans jumping an singing together at the Dam in Amsterdam center.. Having nice big banners made for each other (Ajax made an anti Hapoel Tel aviv banner and Maccabi fans had an 110% anti fnoord banner).. Often they visit each other so I bet it's depending tho who you ask it.. Nevertheless I do believe that Ajax and Twente have the most important and biggest and also best ultra groups of the Netherlands.. After those 2 you basicly have nothing comes close. I do believe that Ajax has the best group in Holland During home AND away matches!.. But furthermore I believe that this can be such a big discussion without any clear ending.. Let's say its just where you hart goes to.. My hart is with Ajax and its fans. Yours at Twente and its fans.. We could never agree on this one I believe...

I never said Ajax fans are terrible. I said the Amsterdam Arena lacks a traditional football atmosphere. It really is a rather soulless building. Ajax fans who actually have a season ticket used to post here. They're gone now, but they criticised the stadium more than I ever did. But believe what you want to believe. I'm sure you'll have a great time at the next Ajax game regardless and good for you.

Ahhh wel if that was what you've meant I agree.. But I was talking about the way of support (that's the way this discussion was started but never mind) not about the stadium.. Of course I'm not happy with the stadium as it is right now.. I actually have a season ticket for 7 years now and before that I just bought loose tickets for many years since I was little and before that a friend of my always bring me to the stadium.. so I know the ArenA is a collosal stadium that doesn't breath Ajax at all.. the seats are more coulourfull than the average back of candy's and I can go on like that for a while.. Nevertheless the Ajax fans are making the best of it and I must say that they succeed in that pretty damn good!

The atmosphere in de Meer and European games at the Olympic Stadium, were one of the best in the Netherlands. The atmosphere was more passionate in the whole country those days btw, but that's another story.

The Amsterdam Arena was one of the first 'multi functional stadiums' or something like that. Sort of an experiment. And it failed. Just like the Gelredome. The artists didn't like it (bad sound because of all the concrete) and so did the football supporters. The stadium came almost together with the businessmen, managers, bobo's, etc. This stadium is sort of the symbol of the Ajax NV (PLC?) and by that downfall of the football CLUB Ajax. For many people it's not a joy anymore to visit a game in the Arena, it's more like going to have a drink with your friends and you keep going because you the team is in your heart.

They are having plans to make the stands closer to the pitch, but I think that will happen with St.Juttemis.

under "Ik heb een vraag over" choose Champions League and state your question..

..although I'm afraid they will tell you that we've already/most likely filled our allocation since Lyon is so close and that there won't be any more seats available for that section.

I ended up seeing Ajax vs Feyenoord in Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven vs FC Utrecht in Eindhoven during my last Europe trip back in October.

I went with that Ajax travels for the Ajax match and for Eindhoven, I just got lucky. I was in town for a metal music festival and I walked into the team shop early one morning and asked if the match was sold out and they told me no and as easy as 1,2,3, I had a ticket for that evening's match.

I want to go to a match at Feyenoord's stadium and FC Twente's stadium.

I hope to attend AZ Alkmaar v RKC Waalwijk on March 23rd and ADO Den Haag v Fc Twente on March 24th as an Irish neutral.

I've written to both clubs in the hope they will sell me tickets.

Any opinions on what it wil be like on the night to get tickets? I can possibly go to both stadiums on Thursday 22nd although it would be a lot of travelling.

You should be all right at ADO, they rarely sell out. AZ will be more difficult. Just approach a home fan near the stadium on match day and ask if they're willing to buy you a ticket on their Club Card.

Are you sure this can be done for AZ??-

-Anytime I've gone to a game--only 3 --but its been because a club card member had to order in advance

I did not know that they can buy at the gate

you can check their official website--it has a spot for tickets

The AZ site isn't working properly on my smartphone, but I'm almost sure that their games against RKC are considered low risk so no clubcard needed.

ADO - Twente however is a higher risk game so clubcard is most likely mandatory.

There's always a couple of tickets left for sale on match day, at most clubs. It depends on what percentage of the capacity is sold to season ticket holders how many there are left. Again at ADO there's a good chance that you can get a ticket on matchday. AZ not so much.

Once you got someone to use their club card just go to the stadium's service unit on matchday.

Appreciate the advice re matchday and will try if I can't get them in advance.

However I really would like to secure a ticket in advance.

It's nothing to do wih high risk or no risk. You need a club card to purchase a ticket to any Dutch league game or Dutch UEFA cup game. That's the rule. While you can generally buy more tickets on one club card, they do sometimes deviate from that in high risk games or highly sought after games.

By the way anyone with a Dutch passport can buy a club card on match day and immediately buy a ticket. A club card only costs about six Euros.

I have an Irish passport so presume I am excluded then. However I believe you can only buy a clubcard for 1 team. A friend has one for Roda Kerkade but assume he can't buy AZ or ADO Den Haag tickets with that.

Any links to AZ or ADO Den Haag fansites?
