Was watching the groundbreaking feed, and when introducing the dignitaries, the crowd overwhelmingly booed someone. Who was it, and why? It was pretty funny.

    Congrats on your stadium!

    How many people love America?

This is some funny stuff. Now having the Dynamo players stand up. She's doing her best to turn the boos into cheers.

My only disappointment today was that Oliver Luck and Pat Onstad were not able to be there to speak on something they had tons to do with making this happen.

No one heard nothing 'cause the sound system blew (literally or figuratively, who knows).

Lee getting booed was freaking awesome. The only two things that could have made it better were Oliver being there and Sylvia being there.

The former 'cause he did all the work and the latter for the consistent boos she would have earned.

Yea, I was dissappointed with that too. They kept thanking Oliver and every time there were lots of cheers. But they never mentioned Pat. Dom did name the three players that remain that moved from SJ.
It seems like the team could have sent Oliver a plane ticket....

Oliver does have his own athletic program to run. He may not have been able to make it on such short notice. He, and us, only have 2 days notice.

I could have heard better if all those people behind me would have quit yelling for them to turn it up.

And maybe I'm the only one but I thought booing Sheila was embarrassing. Even though I did cringe when she asked if that was the team she was looking at, and I double cringed when she said she had stood beside Oliver Luck when we won our first championship (sure you were, Sheila). And I was beyond cringing when she called them the "Dynamos." Once.
But still, I think booing on an occasion like that was wrong. I was happy that both mayor and ex-mayor got applause.

Lee getting booed was one of my favorite things from the event, besides the hardhat that is. I'm ashamed to say I didn't boo though, engaging vocal cords and lungs at the same time might have gone from PG to R (and maybe NC17) quicker than would be a good idea.

Sylvia G would have been booed longer an harder, which is one of many reasons that private citizen stayed away. La-la-la-looooser :p

Still, what can I say... ...LET'S GET THIS THING DONE!!!

I think it might be time for a new thread to mark the start of our stadium. If someone would be kind enough to put together some relevant links and info for a starting page, I will sticky it. Otherwise, I will do it in a few days.

PM me if you do it so I can switch some stuff around ASAP.

It was worse that wrong, and I'm very embarrassed to be wearing the same orange as the children who booed her over and over again.

The groan that passed through the crowd when she first stepped up there was expected, but after that, the kids should have shut up with the boos.

My gf and I totally missed the table where they were handing out free shirts and hard hats. I must have gotten there too late. We arrived at 2:15 pm.

Oh well I got a poster!

How does it feel to be in an SSS? I just realized I have been in soccer specific stadiums outside of the USA but not in the USA! Mind = blown

It will be magical being in a stadium in the USA that is specifically for soccer. I'm jelly of all you guys who have been to PHP.

I totally agree, love her or hate her, Sheila is a power-broker for Houston in Congress and some drunken morons in our midst just fuguratively spit in her face. That is embarrassing on such a day as this. But don't cry for her. She has skin as thick as a Crocodile's and teeth as sharp.

PHP is a Concert specific stadium with a soccer field. I'm glad we didn't copy their setup but I do enjoy going there for matches.

Yea, and she handled it well. I'm sure she's used to it. But really, there's no excuse for being rude.

Disclaimer... yes, Nigel, I am a liberal Democrat. But I have always applauded both G Bushes when they've made appearances at events I've been to. Civility is nice.

It has nothing to do with her being a liberal democrat and everything to do with her opposing the stadium and dragging the stadium building process with lack of support and disapproval of the project.

Davey F'in Crockett and Sam Houston could give a speech at this event and even they would still get boo'ed if they had done the same things Sheila Jackson and Sylvia Garcia did to our team.
