Tsk, tsk. Casually yesterday i was discussing with somebody that claimed that the brazilian league was far better because they got back players like Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Adriano and Rivaldo(who was playing in Uzbekistan...), and i was telling him that names alone now mean nothing and if they returned got to see in which condition they did.

We'll see, we'll see... In the end our runs on the Libertadores include this kind of matches.

Sometimes São Paulo disappoints me, but Corinthians never does.:D

What a joke. That so call team is a shame to our nation. Embarassing our football with lame games and no will.

The Centenário is over, the year is over, Ronaldo Gordo is over and Tite is a joke.

100 years without Libertadores. And counting...

P.S: Rivaldo will debut today. fingers crossed.

Damn thats sad. Ronaldo was my hero going up, and supposedly he is going to retire after this year just because of the libertadores. He actually thought they were going to make a good run!

    Poor guy. :(

Okay I guess I can understand why people here and in the Brazil club forums are bad mouthing Corinthians.

But let's give Tolima some credit here. They are not chopped liver! They finished second to a great Once Caldas team in the last Colombian Championship AND they had a great run in the COPA Sudamericana only to be eliminated by the eventual champions Inependiente by road goals.

They are going to be a tough team to beat and if they can get some momentum watch out!

That said, the 5 remaining Brazilian teams in CL look strong. So we may still see 3 of them reach the semifinals or something like that (hopefully not though :D)

Looks like they are stuck in the group of death though.

RIP to Martin Cabrera of Cerro Porteno.

Sad to see how Bolivar went out. Union Espanola didnt deserve that tie. They will get crushed in the next phase. A Mediocre team.

Bolivar had many chances, even with 1 man down they continued to attack and cause trouble. The ref took our last chance from us when Lorgio Alvarez was CLEARLY onsides but was ruled off, had he not, he very well could have created/crossed the ball for a goal. Who knows.

Even though we lost, I am happy with the tie I saw from bolivar. A much better team, with a great central defender and GK pairing in Frontini and Arguello. Arguellos saves were amazing. Without these two, we'd have lost for sure today.

Good game... Not really disappointed, proud of my team.

yea because no top players have returned to argentina ... I mean most of those Brazilians are semi retired and Adriano was an alcoholic who has failed in Europe everywhere he went.

Riquelme and Veron are the 2 guys who returned while still playing at a top class level and its no surprise that Boca and Estudiantes won the libertadores thanks to them. Not to mention Kily Gonzalez who was also starting at Inter when he went back to Central... From what I see, Argentines return for love of the shirt, Brazilians for the life style and $$$

Ronaldo should return his salary to Corinthians. There were certain touches he made that reminded me of the once great, but his lack of effort both off and on the field is disrespectful to corinthians fans, just go away fatty

    Hey guys!

I only wanted to tell Dusty and all panas here to watch out on Oriente this year. Last year we got rid of great U de Chile and almost beat Tolima until they killed our best mid guy.

Glad that independiente got to the group stage, altough they have a tough opening fixture @ penarol. Seems both teams have a lot to prove, especially after their respective apertura campaigns. Still, at least if they (indepdneiente) come 2nd in the group this time, they are in the round of 16, unlike last time when we lost to sao caetano in the playoff (on pens!!!). :(

Right, but with no, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Adriano or Robinho, they'll be fine without them.

I agree, though it seems that even in Argentina players like Verón and Riquelme don't have the reputation of Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and the rest.

Ugh, i remember that one, when CONMEBOL wanted to have 9 groups instead of the usual 8, so we finished second but among the last qualified seconds so we had to play that match.

The difference is that their guys won the World Cup and our guys did not. But Veron and Riquelme returned to Argentina when they were still in their prime and had a lot of great football left. And they both led their team to win Copa Libertadores.

The only Brazilian from that list that you can say that he came back to Brazil and played consistently at a high level is Robinho, but he couldn't lead Santos to win Copa Libertadores, and besides, he's not up there with Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos in the Pantheon of the Gods.

Maybe Ronaldinho will fit in that category, but he still has to prove on the field that he remains at his high level, just like Veron did when he was written off in Europe. He's certainly one to watch.

You can actually make a better argument for the strength of the Brazilian league based on the Argentines that returned from Europe and went to play in Brazil, like D'alessandro, Guinazu, Maxi Lopez and so on. They arguably had more of an impact in bringing success to Brazilian clubs than the returning Brazilians.
