I think it's funny that 1 day after failing to sign an attacking player that would allow Schweinsteiger to go back to CM the Bayern website has an article on how "great" Ottl has been.

He's played against a 2. Bundesliga team and a Bremen team that is down near the relegation zone, and STILL couldn't stop any of their attacks in midfield.

For claiming that he is the most defensively minded midfielder we have Ottl certainly hasn't shown it whatsoever.

His passing is adequate, but it certainly doesn't make up for what he lacks. Against quality opponents I don't think our back four will be able to take the 90 minute stream of attacks that our leaky midfield will be letting through.

Van Gaal finally stops with the nonsense of starting van Buyten, and starts with this one.

And there's part 1 of that piece. Interesting indeed. Makes an interesting comparison between Schweinsteiger new role compared to his old one. It sheds some light on why Schweinsteiger is played in the "10" role and how it affects our and his game.

His new role is also very much a product of our new formation, which is something that is rarely ever mentioned but explains a lot.

Also compares Schweinsteiger to Mueller in the "10" role. I encourage everyone to check it out.

Yeah, it was pretty weird. At that time I hadn't come to the full conclusion that he was shit, I was really impressed with him in the first leg of the RM game

I guess if van Gaal decides to keep Ottl for the Inter game it will be his true litmus test.

26 years old, back from loan. If he's not good enough now it's time for him to move on. He's better than a career bench warmer but in my opinion not top European quality.

How long before you think Loew comments on Bastian playing upfront, especially if his form continues to dip?

Not that it matters to Van Gaal

This is really beating a dead horse, but honestly can someone explain to be what is tactically or strategically wrong with this Seriously? Critical Analysis required

    ----------------- Gomez
    Pranjic/Altintop ---- Muller ---- Robben
    --------Bastian---Tymo/Pranjic
    Gustavo----Bastuber--Breno/Tymo---Lham
    --------------Kraft

It's not the way LvG sees it. Anything else really does not matter.

Luca Toni on LVG: MONACO MUNICH (Germany), February 2, 2011 - Luca Toni and Hasan Salihamidzic: Two Juventus, both former Bayern and Germany fans have certainly not forgotten. The weekly magazine Sport Bild interviewed them in parallel: the Bundesliga in their past, present, with Juventus, in the future. It came out nice, especially from the mouth of Luca Toni. Which once again wasted no opportunity to attack the Dutch coach of Bayern, Louis van Gaal, the cause, according to him, of his early farewell to the German club.

VAN GAAL AND ATTRIBUTES - striker recalls some episodes of her short and tormented life with the technician. A mutual dislike from the first day, when van Gaal criticized him harshly because he did not want to wait patiently for all the friends end up breakfast. But the story more "spicy" Toni said that it refers to something that happened in the locker room, "a crazy thing, never experienced before. The coach wanted to make it clear that he could replace any player, regardless of his name because he had the balls: And to prove it came down his pants in front of us. " Van Gaal, according to Toni, the players are interchangeable items like: "It still has a problem with players of Latin mentality, as evidenced by the fact that Demichelis is gone. And above all I seem to have difficulty with those who have a strong character. Even Lucius is gone, but there were clashes with Ribery. I'm sure: Oliver Kahn and Van Gaal would not work together.

    Translation not perfect.

It is clear to me that LVG clearly sees Schweini's best position at the CM spot, but that what is needed NOW at Bayern is his AM role. I suspected as much.

I find is typically hypocritical of some on these boards to call Schweini out on his dip in form after taking on a new role... if it was half a dozen other players, people would say "he is still breaking into that role". Perhaps... just maybe... this could be the reason for said dip in form?

Anyways, skimming through the last 3 pages, some observations:
    - Ottl is effecient at CM but he is clearly keeping the spot warm for Kroos.
    - Tymo is doing the same for Breno until he can get his shite together.
    - As I have said before, Breno needed a longer loan deal. I think we can see this now.

Personally, I would love to finally see this lineup when it is all healthy...

I would love to see how this lineup works by the end of the year:

    -----------------Kraft-----------------
    Lahm--Tymoschuk--Babstuber--Gustavo
    -----------Kroos-----Schweini---------
    Robben----------Mueller---------Ribery
    -----------------Gomez---------------

I always liked the man but now he's behaving like a total crybaby. Do you ever hear Lucio say anything about LvG?

I was just about to respond to DI's reply and say that "Lucio has been the lone exception".... then I read your response Albert.

Look at nearly all others and Bayern has gotten the best years out of players that have left:
    Demichelis
    Salihamidzic
    Ballack
    Hargreaves
    Ze Roberto
    Van Bommel (to be seen)
    Makaay

Others simply got swallowed up by Bayern, just too big and too much pressure:
    Deisler
    Podolski
    Jansen
    Schlaudraff
    Rensing
