Pretty excited to hear this confirmation, even though it had been rumored for a minute: http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/01/28/aaron-sorkin-cable-news-network-hbo/?hpt=T2 I loved The West Wing... I always wondered what it would've been like with a bit more freedom, and HBO can grant that...
I think Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip would have benefited from the expectations and pace of premium cable (that, and if Sorkin could do ha ha funny and if the storyline was more believable). So yeah, should be good.
i liked the west wing as much as i disliked studio 60. i don't get hbo, though, so i don't really care about this.
I like Studio 60 and was disappointed when it got canceled. I think it had a lot of potential once it developed. I wonder what kind of News Network it will be about. I would love it if they used it to poke fun at Fox. I never saw West Wing. Did that show get a proper finale? If so, I may Netflix it.
That reminds me, I saw all but the last season of that show... Why have I not Netflixd it? And i would highly recommend you watch the earlier... it is spectacular...
The first three seasons of West Wing are as good as television can be. It ended up going downhill after that -- some people liked it, some didn't, but everyone agrees that once Sorkin left it wasn't the same show. It did get a proper finale.
Any Sports Night fans here? Loved it when it was on, but wasnt so great on second viewing a couple of years ago.
Yep. The influx of writers from one of the hospital programs turned it into something very ordinary. [result]I'm not sure I'd say it even got a proper finale. Parts were good and the epilogue scene was nice, but I thought the depiction of the Josh/Donna storyline was simple-minded and coarse. They might as well have been two strangers who'd gotten hot for each other after meeting in a bar. [/result]
It most definitely will and it will have Sorkin's lefty bent. Sorkin is good friends with Keith Olberman and there's talk that since Olberman isn't tied to a network he might have some on-air rants on the show.
