According to this article Yessy Mena and Fabio Burbano are the two South American's that the Fire are going to announce any day now.

Yessy Mena is a 21 year old striker that plays for Envigado FC in Colombia, and Brubano is an 18 year old attacking mid-fielder who played for Colombia's U-20 team.

Just what we need. Another Yes man. ;)

They weren't kidding when they said we were looking at "young" South Americans.

Transfermarkt.com has Burbano valued at 150,000 Euros, and Mena at 100,000 Euros. I guess we'll find out soon enough what they're worth.

Wikipedia says Burbano is 5'6" and has never scored a professional goal (24 games). I can't find much on Mena.

These were said to be guys that have had success in their domestic leagues, right?

I'd be surprised if these were "the two" acquisitions. I've heard about a pair who are a bit older but not from Colombia. They have 5+ years of pro experience, but still young for the US.

I always enjoy a good Star Wars reference and Bunge is right I think....the South American striker I've heard about is more experienced than either Mena or Burbano.

They weren't. It was rumored that they were going to be there and available in the Superdraft, but that turned out to be false.

So, we can think of them as draft picks rather than as established foreign signings.

So basically there wasn't anyone else on the Salvadorean national team that wanted to play in Chicago?

    My only concern is....

    WHAT TOOK SO LONG?!?

We're almost in pre-season. Couldn't this have happened at the end of last season.

I hope tomorrow's blizzard doesn't mean he'll have to extend his stay in Chicago.

The full list of trialists is supposed to be released tomorrow. We still on track to hear about R2D2 and C3PO tomorrow?

There is still hope. According to Sam, Klopas confirmed two unnamed South Americans on their way. Just waiting for the paperwork.

Hopefully it's more of a MAJOR announcement than where the next MLS All-Star game will be played.
