For what it's worth, the original question specific non-draft signings, though Biello never included those words in his response.

That's where the mega hole in this roster is so I think we can assign a SWAG prob of 82% that your completely right and 97% that your at least partially right. ;)

please don't let it be just draft picks! Please don't let is be Magibua Simpapalo from the Ivory Coast 2nd division! Please let it be two attacking options with speed and ball control in the mid to late 20s with decent size and preferably someone we have heard of.....please please please

Personally, I would like a true central midfield player (who will force Shalrie to sit deeper) or a defensive midfielder (who will allow Shalrie to roam a bit more). Phelan is IMHO the weakest link on this team. Sure, the team has a ton of trouble scoring, and I've complained about their attacking options in the past. However, the linkage between the back and attack is horrendous. That is largely to do with the fact that Phelan is not an outlet at all, so Shalrie has to come deeper, and then Perovic is covered by too many guys. So, they end up having to hoof the ball up 40 yards to their target guy, or for Nyassi or Mansally to run onto. It really all breaks down in the middle of the field with this team. Even if they signed a great striker, they would still have a ton of trouble possessing and scoring goals if they didn't make major improvements to the middle of the field.

According to Goff "Another name that has surfaced in MLS circles: Celtic's Greek striker, Georgios Samaras, 25."

I'd be OK with him :D

Well, Soares and McCarthy are already signed (pre-draft) and I doubt they are going to sign any of the others until they've seen them in camp for a while.

Sinovic just signed a new contract. I suppose it could be some of the other returning developmental players (i.e., Boggs, Linck, Griffiths, etc.), but, again, I think they'll want those guys to compete in training camp before deciding on contracts.

So, I think these are "new" players, but maybe not including the BIG signing people are hoping for.

    Seriously, yes.

Better to be surprised if it does turn out to be something big. I'm just bracing for the typical "hail"-storm that will happen if this is something less than the DP-level signing that's been promised.

I for one could care or less about a DP signing. If the Revs can bring in two solid players and pay 275k each, I'd be much more happy than if they bring in one 34 year old has been looking for a last paycheck

I agree with this. I don't need big names.

But I'm sick and tired of the team being unprepared personnel-wise on opening day.

"Wait until July" is now a plan for failure in this league.

I agree. That "unprepared personnel-wise on opening day" thing you cite was the exact feeling I had in the stands at the home opener. It was like a kid being half asleep, running out the door with only one arm in the sweater to catch the waiting school bus.
