I'm sure you guys know of this show and heard it at least few times. It was a good show and they had great guests sometimes. They tallked about getting a men's team here, the Athletica, Euro leagues, Beckham/MLS, USMNT/USWNT, and local soccer players. They interviewed some Athletica players like Hope Solo/Lori Chalupny and they probably interviewed AC players too. It used to be on 1380 AM from noon to 1 PM on Sat. It left 1380 so is it on KFNS 590 AM or somewhere else now?? Why did Saturday Soccer Report leave 1380 and does it still exist?? Tony Hubert/Joe Pelusi are/were the hosts.
Tony hasn't said anything about it, but I'll ask him when I see him. He used to email me to let me know where and when the romote broadcasts would be. I know it was sponsored by St. Louis Soccer United so that probably dried up when the Vaid brothers bugged out.
So it's just dead now? It hasn't been running on 1380 since the Athletica died out so is that about when it went off the air? But AC was still around so why didn't SSR continue? I can imagine Tony and Joe aren't exactly thrilled with Cooper you know?
It's not called that. It's called SSR. They actually talked about EPL a lot which I don't care for but they also talked about the USMNT/USWNT and we all like them.
They might as well have called it "This Week in the EPL." They talked EPL for about 75-80% of the show, and then mentioned AC/Athletica and US MNT/US WNT. Maybe a mentioned every once in a great while about MLS, which at the time Cooper was trying to get. You would think that they would have tried to educate the STL Soccer fan about the league they were trying to get a team for.
I wouldn't say quite that much but you're right that they talked about EPL a lot. They knew MLS is boring as hell and people didn't want to hear about the Crew vs. FC Dallas. They talked about Beckham/Donovan/LA Galaxy quite a bit too but Beckham's allure has died down quite a lot since then. Give credit to Tony Hubert since he basically predicted the demise of Freddy Adu. A PD article says Adu's career could be done at 21!! Adu was once featured on 60 Minutes as the next Pele!! But I agree it was too much EPL and I would've rather heard about American soccer, World Cup, Euros, national teams, etc.
