Many of you may remember my son was severely injured in a soccer game a little over 3 yrs ago. He went through multiple surgeries and did what the doctors said was not possible. Last year he resumed playing soccer. Unfortunately this past September he was diagnosed with a non cancerous condition/mass in his chest - the week after his 13th birthday- that requires a very complicated surgery. He will be losing parts of up to 11 ribs and a very small portion of his sternum. That means he gains permanent titanium plates in his chest. He goes in next Tuesday and has surgery Wednesday morning. Its a very dangerous surgery that comes with a yr recovery. We'd appreciate any and all prayers on his behalf. Sorry for any errors. We thought we had 4 wks until surgery , but a call earlier today changed that and today has been extremely busy. Thank you.

Jesus, Joseph and Mary!!! I trust he is being brave, what a tough mountain to climb.
Dude, Bilzy, much love for your son and your family's situation.
May God bless your doctor's hand during surgery.

Well, you know I think he's one of the coolest, bravest, most positive kids I have ever met. I know he'll be fine, and can't wait to see him at the season opener!

Thank you all. Yes, he is strong...much stronger than his parents. And Web, thank you for being his friend and helping to keep him encouraged. That truly helps him. Ev is my hero now and always will be. From the start of this he has been so brave. And yes he plans to play again.

Such a helpless feeling as a parent. We'll be in Houston for the surgery and I will try to update or possibly Web can update. Again, thank you for the thoughts/prayers.

Playing indoor soccer I broke a few bones a year and a half ago, including the collar bone in 2 different places, I had only one surgery and only 2 titanium plates.

I can't imagine having multiple surgeries and a lot of plates, and I'm not kid, he is a brave little trooper indeed, I came back to play soccer for one more season just to prove that I could do it, I'm sure that if was able to doit once, he will do it again and play soccer again, or do whatever he wants to do.

Bilzy, lots of love for your son and your family's situation.
Please allow me to pray for your son's well being:

    Please bow your heads:

    Dear Lord,

You know our friend, so much better than I do. You know his sickness/health and the burden he carries. You also know his heart. Lord, I ask you to be with our friend now, and work in his life. Lord, let your will be done in our friend's life. If there is a sin that needs to be confessed and forgiven, please help him to see his need and confess.

Lord, I pray for our friend because your Word says I should pray for his healing. I believe you hear this earnest prayer from my heart and that it is powerful because of your promise. I have faith in you to heal our friend, but I also trust in the plan you have for his life.

Lord, I don't always understand your ways. I don't know why our friend has to suffer, but I trust you. I ask that you look with mercy and grace toward our friend. Nourish his spirit and soul in this time of suffering and comfort him with your presence.

Let our friend know you are there with him through this difficulty. And may you be glorified in his life and also in ours.

    Amen.

WE WILL PRAY WITHOUT CEASING! Keep us updated on how things are going and let us know what we can pray for as you are going through this difficult time of trusting God through all of this. God is truly in control!

I am relunctant to speak for the family, but for those of you wondering how Evan's surgery went, it's been a long couple of days for everyone involved. His surgery went well but it was a long ordeal. The doctors removed the mass that was causing problems for his lungs and they got the titanium plates in place. Things sounded good, he awoke a few times, spoke a little but was mostly sedated. Later he developed a fever and some fluid in his lungs, but the last word from bilzy, three hours ago, was that those conditions are improving. She continues to ask for our thoughts and prayers, when he woke she told him about everyone praying for him. She says the prayers are working. I'm sure she is exhausted.

I am praying right now. Thank you for the update and praise God he got through it. Evan is very close to a lot of the players on the Dynamo so I am sure they are praying for him also.

He is in all of our prayers and he will be mentioned in our pre-game prayer before Saturday's match.

When he is better, we would love to have him sit on our bench.

Bilzy says Evan is doing better tonight, he's alert and awake, and has "turned the biggest corner." Sounds much better than yesterday.

Yesterday Bilzy said Evan keeps improving. If you read Glenn's blog he mentioned Evan and said that ERob had been by to see him. I know he wants to get home.
