You guys think that this is accurate? I guess the entire league owes most of this to LDUQ, have to be honest lol

IFHSS is retarded. we are not the 13th best league in the world and not above the Russian league LOL. I'd place ourselves in the lower part of the top 20 at best. The 2010 season was the best i've seen in a long ass time but it's still not the 13th best.

The russian league sucks. Those stats are not set in Stone. You have a LDU Quito who has won almost everything, Dep Quito is a serious threat and it seems like they got their stuff together. You have Emelec, El Nacional and a halfass screwed up barcelona. If only the canarios can get their stuff together. If you have investors to help Deportivo Cuenca than you got one hell of a league!!! All the talent that coming up and Leaving every year? If the ucraine is up there than why not Ecuador.

The scottish league? They have two club and that's it. Every once in awhile someone eat a bad piece of haggis and someone sneaks in. The scottish should be lower.

I bet you deportivo quito isn't gonna do sh*t this year. Their team is all "nombres". Independiente is gonna put them to shame and the Libertadores will end for Deportivo Quito before they know it. Emelec broke apart now that Sampaoli left, Ayovi, Rojas, Biglieri, and even Elizaga (the captain and idol of Emelec) left. I think they're gonna fall back a notch and not be as strong as last year, but will most likely still be competing in the upper part of the table. Especially when you hear their signings like Ronald Campos and Walter Iza LOL talk about jokes. El nacional has potential with a great group of youngsters this year that will get their time to shine. And Barcelona...well you know their story.

I think the 2011 campeonato will be good, but probably won't match last years. From what I see, theres still gonna be a ton of players leaving the league after the 2011 season just as much as this year, maybe more.

This ranking looks fine to me. Obviously it's influenced heavily by clubs that do well in international competitions, so Liga's recent success is a big factor - as it SHOULD be!

Seems like a lot of people assume that just because the best leagues are in Europe, that ALL leagues in Europe are better. That is not the case. It is true that it is easier for a player in, say, Greece, will probably have a better chance of being noticed by a team in a top league. That's the only reason to be happy for a guy like Edson Montano who is playing in Belgium. But from a pure football standpoint, it's not better than staying in Ecuador.

yeah but who else is Ecuador is competitive at international level besides Liga?
When I see at least one other team enter a quarter final of a Libertadores or a Sudamericana, then thats a different story.

I wonder what comes to consideration when the IFHSS makes these lists, is it Attendance at games, a solid fixture in the tournament, competitive level, organization, international performances, either way in all categories our league doesn't shine very much but has improved, and LDUQ's performances compliment the rest so I guess it's a fair place.

I'm pretty happy to say the Ecua Serie A is in the top 15 leagues of the World. Our futbol has come a long way in the past decade. Let's try to keep it that way or even make the league better.

I would not read too much into it. Fact is, if it were not for Liga's success, we wouldn't even be on a map.

IFFHS rankings are completely worthless. According to their rating system, if the league minnows suck so much that they cant win a game that actually makes a league stronger than if the league were deeper and had more competitive teams. It also lets teams raise their rankings by simply playing more league games than other teams. They seem to only use 1 year of data to make their rankings as well, so it is common for leagues to randomly move up or down 30 places each time a new list comes out. I remember a little while ago they had India ranked above MLS, despite the fact that one of India's top players can't even make the game day roster of a below average MLS team and average US 2nd division players suddenly turn into unstoppable goal scorers if they move to India.

Any league that doesn't have any relegation should not even be considered. Relegation battle is where you see some really good futbol, Well at least in my country.

Wait, so now fans of Ecuador's league (average attendance in 2009 was 4,870) are trying to make fun of the attendance of MLS (average attendance in 2010 was 16,675)? Seriously?

Well, I as was actually speaking as a Bundesliga fan. :)

Despite my love for the Ecuadorian League, and a fan of Barcelona SC, with an incredible stadium that I went to as often as I could when I lived there, the attendance was pretty damn pathetic. And that was when we were actually decent. Now, I'm sure it's even worse.

Kudos to Liga de Quito for keeping Ecuador on the map. Relax, it was more a dig at the fact that a team finnishing 5th on the table could actually win the title or championship or world series, whatever it is called.
