opening this thread for anyone to share their thoughts on our NT and our performances. We are in the same group as Colombia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia.

I'll post the dates of the matches once I find them. But before that, i have one question: Does anyone know if Gol Tv is gonna air the games like they did 2 years ago?

Marcos Caciedo, Renato Ibarra (right back from el nacional i always talk about), and Fernando Gaibor could have chances to migrate from Ecuador. Of course, depending on their performances in this tournament. The U-20 IMO has a way better team now then 2 years ago. Lots of these players are important juveniles who consistently play in their respective clubs in Ecuador.

Like I've been sayin, from now on we're gonna see a massive migration of young kids to Ecuador.

Speaking of which Victor Estupinan and Marlon Ganchoso's move the MLS is official. Don't know which teams yet though.

Gotta question is anyone can answer it:

Does anyone know if Jonathan De La Cruz (U. Catolica) made the list? He was injured and Vizuete was holding on til the last minute but im not sure if he made it or not. Hope he does.

In El Comercio it said that he was not going to be on the list. It seems as if there is a rift (not serious) between Vizuete and FEF because they posted the list on Mon and we wanted to wait until Thu or Fri, part of the reason was that he wanted to wait for De La Cruz and see if he could've become fit. Sucks because the kid reminds me a lot of Noboa IMO.

John Narvaez, Dennys Quinonez, Mario Pineida, John Jaramillo are all guys to keep an eye on in the tournament. These are guys who can improve their stock with a good tournament.

Ive said it once and was right so Ill say it again. This u-20 team is not good enough to win it.. sure there is some good players like chala, casares, d jesus, etc... but the defense is too shaky kind of like on the senior team.

btw they lost to imbabura and tied with the u17 national team.

the defense of the U-20 does worry me, im hoping they come through. but the midfield and up is awesome. I honestly really like this team. Our defense from the past U-20 team 2 years ago wasn't that strong either. And our attacking half wasn't as strong as the one now. So i have higher hopes for this team then the past one.

Man, I really wish the best for this team and Vizuete, I believe Vizuete was a victim of bad luck and lack of scoring with our forwards when he coached the NT, anyway, I think this will be a very good way to judge the whole concept of having the U-20 in the field for at least 45 minutes in our first division, If I'm not mistaken "el juvenil" rule came out about 4-5 years ago, so It has been given time, we've seen a lot of good talents show off themselves at an early age because of it, But I am eager to measure our youngsters Internationally, If this generation doesn't accomplish a ticket to tthe world cup the press is going to have a field day, Like I said best of luck to these guys.

the juvenile rule has helped out a lot. i hate how some commentators in ecuador don't acknowledge that.

Watching the U-20 and Ecuador not playing well. If these guys are the future of Ecuador soccer then they aren't that good. After De Jesus got injured (looked really really bad injury, it was a knee injury and he was even crying like crazy) Ecuador had no attacking power.

Colombia has controlled most of the game. Ecuador passing is terrible.

Ecuador as a whole didn´t play all that well. There were some players that stood out tho. I liked the kid Fuertes, the GK Jaramillo was solid, Narvaez and Quinones were okay considering CB is not their position. Casares did good when he had the ball. The problem was that Ecuador didnt have good ball movement. They tried to go one on one too much.
Lets hope de Jesus´ injury isnt bad and Ecuador makes the neccesary adjustments. It was their first game so they were playing with nerves.

I got to admit I was surprissed with the first half. Ecuador did much better than colombia and their passes were brilliant in the first half. Second half was a disaster and Idk who said Vizuete is a good manager but honestly he is not. he had other players he could've brought in to improve in the second half. overall Cazares played well but not as good as he is capable of, Gaibor had a fantastic first half but killed it late in the second, De Jesus and Montano did well while chala didn't do anything. I think the best player on the pitch was Marcos Caicedo.

Marcos Caicedo was better in the first half but not the best player on the pitch IMO, he was lost during the second half. The best one in my opinion was John Narvaez who probably stood out the most for the longest period. Around the 60th minute the players began to slack and played conservative to keep the result the way it was. Its what you expect of the ecuadorian player. And like always, it comes and bites them in the ass. So the result was expected once that attitude was seen on the field from our guys.

Marlon De Jesus is an important player to our attack. Him and Montano understand each other pretty well. The thing that sucks is that unlike past U-20 teams, this one has too many center forwards (de jesus, montano, and chala) and no one that can play a benitez or joao rojas role. it seem like the only guys that could break a defense apart were Marcos Caicedo or Juan Casares b/c no one else has those type of characteristics. At least not the guys that were up front (de jesus, montano, and chala). they are guys who are waiting to get the ball fed to them.

I liked Penilla and little i saw from him. I'm not sure if im right but i think he plays for ESPOLI.

What I did like about our NT: our defense. Besides the last 25 minutes of the game our defense stood out and was solid. John Narvaez is awesome. this kids been doing his thing quietly since he's been 17 in Cuenca. If only he could gain a little more muscle. Fernando Gaibor was probably the 2nd best player on the pitch that really stood out. His ball recovery was awesome. Those were by far my two favorite players.

What do we need: a player to feed the striker. The past U-20 team had Joao Rojas. This one doesn't have someone with those characteristics. And it's not Chala, De jesus, or Montano. It's either that. or take out Ona and add in Johnathan de La cruz and play with just one defensive mid.

Saw the game last night, I wasn't "super impressed". The 1st half Ecuador pulled out sum miracles. 2nd Half they just lost it. I never seen Casares play but by the little I saw I was impressed by him, he has that keen eye for play making, definitely deserves the #10 shirt. Not beeing a Cuenca fan or nuthin but Narvaez did a great job as a Centerback last night, Jaramillo didn't have much work from what I saw but I was kinda disappointed on the penalty, like he just "guessed" where it was going, seeing as he should be getting advice from Pepe Pancho, I think he will develop even more. I hope De Jesus Injury isn't realy serious, from the little I saw he was doin good. Overall I'm meh on the game, but if they would have kept the rhythm of the 1st half going, I'm sure they could have pulled a win.

You make good points man, the defense was pretty solid, it didnt cost us the game like we thought it might. On the penalty Ibarra conceded, it wasnt his fault. If he didnt foul, the player had an easy shot. Like I siad Narvaez was solid, but the one who impressed me most was Fuertes. He was a rock.
In the second half, I kept screaming at Vizuete to put in de la Cruz so we can get some ball movement, he wasnt even in the subs list. Caicedo dissapeared in the second and most of the players looked tired.

I hope Marlon De Jesus isn't injured b/c if that happens then i'll lose all hope up front. Montano and Chala can't do sh*t together and I don't blame them. Vizuete's gonna have to add in another guy who can push up the ball to our two guys up front. I'm still expecting more from Cazares next game.

we have players like Paul Minda and Johnathan De La Cruz to help out. Vizuete made a mistake by not making changes til the end of the game. He's notorious for that crap.

according to Maldonado is not a ligament injury after the tests they had on Marlon, the teams doctor confirmed is not a ligament injury and as of now he is "probable" for Paraguay's game, worst case scenario he'll be back for the third game.
