Re: Official 2011 Japan NT Thread [R] How can this game on a Tuesday? JFA can be unbelievably stupid.
Okada's best XI before we went into shambles Okazaki Matsui Honda Nakamura Endo Hasebe Nagatomo Tulio Nakazawa Uchida Narazaki Today's Zac's XI (with the proper CBs) and probably the best XI on paper Maeda Kagawa Honda Matsui Endo Hasebe Nagatomo Tulio Nakazawa Uchida Kawashima
There are better players than Matsui. Ienaga, Nozawa, Usami, to quote few of them. Matsui has the experience but he's fading, especially now that he does not play anymore, only appearing on funny TV shows.
After this tournament or surely after Copa America do you guys think that we should start focusing on the future and the next WC? I'm specifically speaking about 3 problems spots in the current formation which will become huge gaps in the future. This is probably our best formation atm. ----------Maeda----------- Kagawa---Honda---Okazaki --------Endo---Hasebe----- Nagatomo------------Uchida ------Tulio---Nakazawa----- ---------Kawashima-------- The three problem areas that I see in the next couple of years are: 1. Striker 2. Partner for Hasebe in the midfield 3. Partner for Tulio if he is planning on going to the next WC. Otherwise a new CB partnership These are my suggestions as of now Striker 1. Mike Havenaar- Has potential and should be given a chance if he has a good season in J1 2. Hirai- Unknown whether he can play up front alone, but is a good finisher 3. Nagai- Looked good during the Asian Games, but has yet to play a professional match so is an unknown quantity. 4. Ibusuki- a longshot right now, but could potentially work. I want to see him at a higher level than the Spanish 3rd division though Alternatively we could always put Honda up top and play with Usami ------------Honda---------- Usami----Kagawa----Okazaki
1. Havenaar, or Honda up top and Usami/Miyaichi (if he makes it) on the wing. Morimoto for the next few years will always be in with a shot. 2. Hosogai for CM. Or Honda if we're okay for strikers and Usami/Miyaichi give us the depth for AM's with Kagawa & Okazaki. 3. Kurihara, in the october game against South korea it was the first game he played genuinely well for the whole game for the JNT, also against Argentina after about 30 minutes he did pretty well. I think he deserves a shot..... or if we're without Tulio, any two of Kurihara, Makino, Iwamasa, Yoshida. no.3 to me is a bit of an issue. Because I think Zac is a big fan or Konno (to be fair he's been great recently) but I don't think Konno will cut it at FWC level in 3 years at CB. Or Makino possibly.
Partner for Hasebe I think this role is really between two players right now. Ienaga and Hosogai Personally I think that Ienaga would be a better choice because of his ability to transition well and his work rate. Partner for Tulio Yoshida is a disaster. Until he becomes much more composed and reliable I do not want to see him starting matches. It is not an immediate problem because CB tend to have longer life spans than other field players, but looking at the AC roster does not inspire much confidence. Inoha Iwamasa Konno Nagata Are all capable J-League defenders, but really that's all they are. With the exception of possibly Iwamasa they are all untested at the international level. edit: Miyaichi is a good player, but he is no where near the national team. Just cause you play for a big club doesn't mean you can walk straight into the national team. Anyways there are better players at his age in Japan who are actually playing e.g. Yoshiaki Takagi.
I actually forgot about Morimoto..... Sigh Morimoto sounds like the solution to all our problems, but unfortunately it isn't so easy. I like that he is physical and has a decent touch, but he is not playing and that automatically brings him down in my book. I would not mind if he came back to Japan and played for a J1 team. At this rate it might be the best option if he doesn't start playing during the 2nd half of the season. edit: One more possibility for the position of Hasebe's partner would be Inui. In my mind if he has another good season then he should be called up. edit2: Yonemoto seems like a good replacement for Endo also.
I forgot about Ienaga & Inui.... But imo they're just too slight for the CM role in the JNT. 173cm & 169cm just doesn't sound like two tough central midfielders which is really what would be preferable need considering our creativity is more than spoken for with our attack. This is why I suggest Hajime Hosogai. With Miyaichi, I know at this stage its a bit of a long-shot. Kind of how people in 2007 were thinking Morimoto could start in 2010. But he's got potential and is closer to the JNT right now than Hiroshi Ibusuki. Miyaichi can get tested for NT material in the olympic side i suggest. ----- Japan's new CM....ready: Tomoaki Makino? We don't need him at SB or CB. And it'd be good to have him in the NT. -- Oh and apparently we're 14th in the world Elo Ratings. Counted as of the Saudi game.
The only replacement I see for Endo is Honda. Endo is not great because of his agression or defensive ability, but because of his football IQ and passing skills. Exactly like Honda. We would lose a lot replacing him by Hosogai or Yonemoto. Guys in whom I believe : ***** : Usami, Ono, Yamamura, Kensuke Nagai, Minamino **** : Ibusuki, Miyaichi, Shibasaki *** : Sugimoto, Ryo Nagai, Miyayoshi, Furuta, Toshiyuki and Yoshiaki Takagi, Kakitani ** : Yamazaki, Matsubara, Havenaar
Is there a reason why Yamamura has not signed for a club yet? I thought that he was a 4th year student, but I can not confirm that. Did he decide to stay another year? I mean almost every club is having a camp now.
I remember reading he wanted to wait until the last minute before making his choice. I wonder where he will sign. Urawa were hot on him but I'd like to see him chose Gamba Osaka.
