Happy Holidays and I hope you and your families are well.

A little update to what's going on.

T&T was a really good trip - much better than we were even anticipating. There are a couple of players from the trip that we are bringing in to preseason and have legitimate shots at making the team. What may have been the most encouraging were a few of the really young players we saw. We'll definitely need to keep track of them and see what our angle may be to bring them in to Kansas City as our residential training setting is developed in 2011/12 in kck.

We have our draft board pretty well developed and will use the combine to refine a couple evaluations. We basically do a top ten by position on the field and a "power 75". The staff has been to approximately 120 games this season, so very well traveled. Kudos to zorin, zavags and JP on this stuff specifically.

While there are a couple positions on the field we would like to get, we'll take a pretty focused "best player available" approach.

We've had one DP deal fall completely apart on us. In the final stages the numbers basically doubled, so off the table. We have another one that we are working on for an attacking player - young - that I'm hopeful of, but we'll see.

Monday we had our first contact with an attacking mid/winger who would not be DP money (but close). He would b incredible IMO.

Center backs continue to be a focus with one on the cusp and two more in early negotiations. None of these guys is cheap - not DP money. Basically all the guys we are looking at are under 25. Not to say we won't sign an older player, but not currently on the radar.

    No trades pending....

Again, I hope you have a great holiday season...talk to you soon.

I'm confident we'll get Michael done. I think it's fair to say both sides want it to happen soon.

Sounds like it's a good thing we cleared up a bunch of salary cap space. :)

Really cool update. I'm really excited about the young talent you are looking at.

I like the update, the one thing that my dad pointed out that I tend to agree with, is where are the American players? I mean we're bringing in all these international players, but there don't seem to be a lot of American names mentioned. Which is a little disappointing.

Do you think there is American talent out there that is undiscovered? I dont really see teams finding some 17- 24 year old playing pickup or something that is amazing that isnt on anyones radar.

Or are you saying trying to DP American players playing overseas?

I don't think there is in the US but you do have the ability to make trades, and there are Americans overseas that could play in MLS. I just thought it was a valid concern from someone who doesn't frequent these boards but is a season ticket holder because there's all this talk about bringing in foreign players, our starting lineup could have as few as 3-4 American citizens in it next season (Arnaud, Bunbury, Harrington, and Espinoza (he's a dual citizen)).

ok, so the concern is having Americans on the team, as opposed, to American talent getting a snub or something by the team. gottca

Seems like most of our American players are obtained through the draft and the academy. Don't any returning American players have to go through the allocation process, or their rights are already owned by a team if they return within a certain amount of time? Plus those players (like Hunter Freeman) may not know about what is going on in KC and therefore don't want to come here. Hopefully that opinion changes very soon.

Possibly Smith too, right? Or was that some other something that I am mixing up with citizenship?

I really don't mind being light on American players right now with the caveat being that we are doing our best to develop American talent. Kronberg and Zusi seem to be on their way up, esp. now that Kronberg hasn't had any injury problems.

One thing about trading for Americans is that, at least how I see it, it's not nearly so easy to go and find an American which doesn't fall into the allocation system, doesn't have his rights already owned by another team, is interested in playing in MLS and isn't being pursued by multiple clubs - or at least, if not pursued, they are on the radar of multiple other MLS clubs. International talent, on the other hand, is not only more plentiful but also easier to discover one that nobody else has found.

He's made off handed comments for a while, but until he actually gets his passport and counts as an American (remember even for the expansion draft he was an international) I'm not going to count him as one.

Alright. Some major post deletion just went down in here. In the spirit of the holiday season, I advise you all to live by the following rules:

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Wow, talk about ham handed. You probably should have consulted someone before doing that, but whatever.

I get incredibly tired of posts like this whenever a Moderator, moderates this forum. This is what we're supposed to do. It's our job.

If you don't like the way we moderate, feel free to apply for the job. It's got great benefits, pay, and the appreciation of your fellow fans.

    Happy Holidays.

Probably because it was in response to another post that was deleted.

Yeah, I just noticed that Wizardscharter's post was deleted as well which I think is inappropriate.

I know it is tough to be a moderator (I've done it) but that was a little heavy handed IMO. There were no personal attacks in either post.

I agreed with Sombra's post, there wasn't a personal attack, but the post was baiting he was looking for a fight on that particular point, which is why I had no problem with it being removed.

And regardless of whether or not it was a personal attack, theres been too many of those kind of posts on too many threads. I think the intention was to keep this thread from turning into a huge argument/ flame war and keep it on topic (which I suppose I'm not keeping it on topoic myself. Whoops).

    No it isn't.

Your job is custodian only of TOS rules. Where was the TOS violaion? Or even flirtation with them? Separately, you vollunteered through no choice of anyone but yourself. No martordom (sp?) please.

Aside from that if you allow any info - manipulative, info, or opinion - philosophically any other view or reaction must have the same latitude. If not, then a moderator becomes a sales rep, as they are no longer moderate in function.

Hey, if this is "Robb's View Forum" for his exclusive usage then let's go full boar and name it that...oh, that's right...that already happened.

My apologies, I withdraw all reasonable comment.

    Merry Christmas.

    You're wrong. Absolutely dead-A wrong.

In the deletion, I liked that Robb posted throw away info but saw the possibility of another view.
Any other view is over- jaded garbage. Garbage that could be deleted as personal attacks, BTW. "he was looking for a fight".

    Ridiculous.
