Qatar suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Haiti in a friendly at Khalifa Stadium in Doha. The home side, who are preparing for the Gulf Cup which starts on Monday, were the better side in the first half and had the ball in the net on 35 minutes only for Bilal Mohamad's effort to be ruled out for offside. The visitors hit the winning goal eight minutes into the second period when Jean Junior Monuma Constant broke free of his marker and fired home. Sebastian Soria went closest to salvaging a draw for Qatar but his shot rattled the frame of the goal midway through the second half. http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/news/newsid=1337132.html

I would just like to point out, in retrospect, that the 2022 World Cup host got beaten at home by Haiti. Moving on...
A new MLSSoccer piece on Marcelin in Portland: http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/marcelin-torn-between-portland-excitement-haiti-heartbreak
Not Soccer Related but the same happens in the Dom Rep, normally the haitian immigrant workers want to spend Xmass and new year over there with their family, now most of them just stay First the earth quake, now the cholera, it is so sad
Fwiw, Univision has this show called "Aquí y Ahora" which is very similar to CBS's "60 Minutes" and curiously on yesterday's episode, a story centered on Marcelin was featured. Very touching and moving stuff, indeed. I am pretty sure that if one goes to Univision's website (www.univision.com) and types Marcelin in the search box, the story can be found.

Since I haven't seen it elsewhere: there have been protests at CARICOM's Haitian HQ over the weekend after Jamaica's government expelled Haiti's u-17 team from the CONCACAF championship over fears of spreading cholera (in fact, a couple of members contracted malaria while in Jamaica).
This is well after the fact, but: Dr. Jean-Yves Bart wrote up an official report on what happened to Haiti's u-17 team in Jamaica (French version available as well). I don't know if there are other first-hand accounts to compare and contrast with his, but his explanation certainly falls along the lines of the team getting screwed by the Ministry of Health (+ Montego Bay's mayor).
Since this seems the most fitting place: The Haitian Roster for Dartmouth/Harvard charity matches Is there anything else to add besides what is in that article on these players? Also, if you are looking for an English radio feed of the game, looks like the folks running that website will have it, as will Harvard's athletic department. Also hear there will be several Creole stations covering the game. Second question, anyone on the boards in the New England area that's going to the game? Just out of curiosity.
well, I was at the same hotel the Haitian National Team was at.. lol I'm friends with the captain Parnel Guerrier. Cool guys, they all look young, and they told me most of the team is from Victory in Haitian league. they were also champs apparently. They play at 3 according to the coach who i spoke with before i checked out the hotel. They were really cool. The President of the federation was there too.. I even gotta wrist band from one of them and they're autographs with pictures and videos. The coach is cool too.. talked to him for about 10-20 minutes about his coaching background.
This is the Team that is going to be the Olympic Team except 2 or 3 guys . It's not the real Haiti National Team. You have U17 players among the ones you see and many of them have been called up for the first time . Yeah, Victory club is the national champion.
So I was told.. I knew some of them were about my age, because they looked young as hell. I asked if Mischak Jerome or Sony Norde were there, they said no, so I knew this was some sort of alternate squad. they said they have more games in the next weeks..well thats what the coach told me.
