I'll do my best to post some insights on this thread for the next couple months. Tomorrow is the start of our player combine in Trinidad. We've got about 25 players involved at all ages and levels. Trialists from s america, the carribean, Africa and Europe. We hope this is the first of a new quality discovery concept for us. The combine itself is intended to identify some high potential quality young kids for the development roster. At the same time we r bringing some more advanced trialists in since visas r much easier.

We've had good recruiting trips to Europe, s america, and Africa and have a solid discovery list to turn in next week. Hopefully we can sign a couple of them over the next couple months. We r pursuing a young player who would qualify as a dp, not from a name standpoint, but definitely from a potential and cost standpoint.

There r two trades we r working on...both for the same position. We only want one of them. We will c what happens....

    That's it for now...rh

Using a DP for a young player that isnt necessarily a name is exactly what I want to see. I dont want a name brand player, I want someone who can play and contribute to the team for several years.

    Totally.

Discovery list. Sounds like a real pain. It almost makes as much sense as some Europeans stepping onto the Americas and claiming to have discovered them.

Robb, your texting habits runneth over. :D

Hmmmm. I wonder if this will involve central defense.....

Regardless, I love that there is so much going on behind the scenes, and that Robb tells us about it.

could be an attacking player that isnt left footed, which we have a bunch of right now. I believe Smith, Bunbury, Kamara, and Bravo all are high enough quality to start in the MLS (and maybe Diop, certainly showed more than just flashes), wouldnt be surprised to see something in that area. Not sure we have that same "problem" at CB, it appears to be more the opposite. Also consider that despite this talent listed up top, we didnt score a bunch of goals, so changing something up there would make even more sense imo...

Funny....I always have it in my mind that "trade" means player for player, but that is less common than player for $$/draft picks in MLS. When I thought player for player, CB was the first thing that popped in my head, but you are probably more correct than I am. Attacking mid was my second thought.

trade could be player for player, but that doesnt have to be for the same spot on the field. My train of thought is that we have more attractive attackers to other teams than our CBs are. I could see a team maybe being intrested in Besler, but outside of that I dont know how attractive any CBs are, and what exactly are you going to get in return for Besler? Idk, just my guess. Frankly it could be anyone, we have midfield talent that is attractive, and it also wasnt really clicking when we were going forward (thought the midfield was great defensively)

This offeseason should be intresting with Bravo coming in and our base and roster in much better shape than when we overhauled last year. Gotta think we will see at least 2 players from camp RH is mentioning.

Will the team be shaping itself around Bravo?

I'm obviously not the coaching staff or anything, but I've got to think the answer is a huge no. Building around a single player is just not a smart thing to do in a team game.

We already have a core group of guys that I assume they are sticking with.

After building the team around Marinelli only to have him get injured and then turn out to be a douchebag, I hope they dont build a team around anyone.

Hi. I'm not a follower of Sporting KC, but if I can throw my two cents into the mix, I'd say that KC needs some new defenders, either CBs or RBs or LBs.

One possibly pickup would be William Gallas, who's signaled his interest to go to MLS. Of course, he's not young, but he could play for at least 3 more years, and would bring extra attention to KC. Gallas would be a beast in MLS.

Another idea, for the midfield, would be Jose F. Torres from Pachuca, who's interested in a move to KC. Play a 4-3-3 with Teal, Kimura, and Bravo up top, with Torres and two midfielders playing behind them. Not bad.

How many more years left does Jimmy Conrad have in this game? The dude seems to have been around forever.

When he retires, I hope to see him writing for somebody or being on television.

Wow, such insight. Who knew we needed center backs? Yes we're aware we need defenders, not the wingbacks though, Espinoza and Harrington were two of our few bright spots last year.

No, we have enough aging, slower center backs on our roster we don't need another, what we need is a little more speed in the center of defense.

Torres would have to go through the allocation process and we're in the middle of that group, he's not falling to us.

Sorry, I might just be dumb, but will SKC have a sponsor this coming season?

Yep. They're searching right now. Looks like one for the stadium and one for the uniform. We'll just have to sit tight until we hear any more news.

Also, he was never interested in KC... There was rumor about him making a move to the MLS, but that was false. Although I think he will have to spend a couple years here before Europe.

The only Brendan Mundorf info I'm finding is on a lacrosse player.

Maybe it's the start of Sporting KC's lacrosse team? :p
