Gravy Cup '10 (Thanksgiving Day Games) Looking at the calendar, and realizing it's getting pretty close to Thanksgiving. Are there any plans for the annual turkey day games/food drive in Cottonwood this year? I haven't seen anything on here, but have been away from the forums for a bit.
Re: Gravy Cup '10 (Thanksgiving Day Games) We haven't talked about it yet (which is surprising). But, I would imagine that there will be games at the Butler Fields (same place as last year) in the Cottonwood Heights area. And yes, lets bring canned food so we can bring it to the shelters, etc... Last year we had a good showing, we had to break it into two fields. It was fun, hopefully we have a good showing.
Re: Gravy Cup '10 (Thanksgiving Day Games) I participated the first couple of years, but Thanksgiving seems to be my "get the hell out of town" weekend lately. It's a lot of fun and everyone should go!
Re: Gravy Cup '10 (Thanksgiving Day Games) Yep, same location (Butler Middle School) and time (10:30) as last year. Bring canned food, and we'll need an individual with a truck to volunteer to take the food to the Food Bank afterwards. And pray that there's no snow on the ground.
Re: Gravy Cup '10 (Thanksgiving Day Games) Yeah that sucked last year (same with the pointyball players taking up other fields as well). I drive a Bronco, It has plenty of room in the back, I will be there to play and can help with transporting the food.
Re: Gravy Cup '10 (Thanksgiving Day Games) I will be there in our XTerra and will be running other food to the Food Bank, so if it all fits we can just load me up and I can run it all!
Everyone is invited to come join us at the Annual Gravy Bowl pick up soccer game. Its just a fun time to get together and play-or watch fellow RSL fans kick the ball around. It has also been a tradition that an RSL player, trainer and/or some FO ppl show up (working on that). Also-don't forget that we will be collecting donations to the Utah Food Bank! If you would like to donate food but can't make it to the game let me know and we can make arrangements to collect it. Come and go as you please. We will have more than one game going if we get more people. Dress warm! Event is posted on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=143706639014163
I want to go to the game but I have never been involved with this sort of pick game stuff. Is it welcoming of strangers like me?
The fields are right behind the rec center...go in the parking lot and all the way to the back, you will see us. There is a school on the opposite side of the fields too where you can also park but I dont know how to get back there.
This is the only reason I am sorry to not travel for the holidays: we'd be with family in the area and I could play in the Gravy Cup!
Cold (my beard had ice in it when I got in the car to head home), but a lot of fun! The ball kept us guessing because it'd just stop in the snow sometimes and then hit a smooth patch when you kicked it to compensate, but that kept things interesting. Go team dark!
