    first half
    south korea 1-0 china

south korea got a well deserved goal through the lazy chinese defense
china was awful for the first 25 minutes, the opponent possessed the ball most of the time and our goalkeeper was lucky to catch the shots

china did attack few times, and one time it was near a goal, except the Uyghur kid didn't accurately head it in.

    china's passing is pretty awful
    less disciplined
totally different from the national team.

Displaying a shocking lack of faith, our office TV has been changed to the men's badminton team final.

    a good read:

    http://2010.163.com/10/1115/20/6LICBE6K00864IRO.html

as mentioned in former posts, south korea definitely has a strong squad with two experienced overage players, and with the way chinese played today, they definitely deserved the score.

after watching the team for 60 mins (i dozed off to sleep because it was 4am at my side), our players do not have strong passion. i can't see any players that could be a helpful addition to our national squad either.

oh well. time to wait for the china vs. latvia friendly few days later
i can finally see better disciplined soccer with much better passing :)

did our finishing let us down again? i only watched 1 of our match but it seemed like passing was ok. it was just the play in the final third of the pitch that really doomed us.

Even the coach is a stand-in. China is obviously not taking the Asian Games seriously as far as soccer is concerned. But I don't see how this team is going to qualify for London2012 unless some drastic changes are made.

if there is no concrete pass there will be not good finishing :(

this team is not discipline, nor i see much motivation
the only good thing is i saw wang xuanhong everywhere, left side right side, but his shots are free balls for the audience.

as zhou botong said, 'the coach is a stand-in'
yup. now i appreciate gao hongbo and his '4-5-1 tactics' and fluid passing.

At least the male swimmers are creating some surprises in the pool to compensate for soccer players' dismal performance.
Watch out for Zhang Lin and Sun Yang tonight (1800 hours onwards China time) v Park Tae Hwan and Matsuda Tekeshi in 400M freestyle. Great race. Third event of the night. So tune in early.

i think we won't win but
look out for sun, he is a rising star. he beat zhang, our best male swimmer, in his pet event, the 1500m free in the last World Championship and in the 200m free a few days ago.

Asian Games 400M freestyle men results:

    Gold: Park Tae Hwan
    Silver: Sun Yang
    Bronze: Zhang Lin

Park led from start to finish. Hard to beat.

I'm more concerned about our future chances at WC qualification, I mean this rendition of the youth team has been fairly disappointing compared to past U-23 teams in recent years (and look how many of them ended up failing to live up to their potential). The building blocks to our senior NT have to eventually come from somewhere...

Sun Yang has set an Asian record in the men's 1,500-metre freestyle, slashing some 10 seconds off the old mark and getting within a second of Australian Grant Hackett's world record from 2001.

    this guy has serious potential.

    :)

China were disqualified from the men's 4x100 metres medley relay in a dramatic end to swimming action at the Asian Games on Thursday after touching in first place.

Sounds like some great races there. Does anyone have a video of these swimming competitions?
