I just checked, the Broncos, Avs, and Nuggets all have Sunday off so there shouldn't be anyone else to fight at whatever bar we have the viewing party at.

This was probably the greatest moment from my memory bank. Everyone in the West Terrace grabbed someone and started jumping. Chanting "get on your feet." People started to rise cheering and chanting in their own section. I just couldn't help but to tear up. Our moment has finally come, we grasped a chance to play in the MLS Cup. Not only did the supporters sections realize it. But the rest of the stadium. It was an awesome feeling, something i'll never forget.

If the Rapids can build off that kind of passion, and atmosphere. They could build something really special. It starts with games like these, it builds tradition and memories. It allows kids and adults to become passionate about something we all care so much about. To me its more than just a game, its definitely a way of life. Football brings people together, builds a family. I've met some amazing people over the last 8 years, and a lot of new faces this year. Cheers to every Rapids fan. We deserve our chance. Now we got to make it our time.

Here is to an awesome match, and to a great cup final no matter who we play! UP YOU MIGHT 'PIDS!

For CCL, if we lose MLS Cup we'll have to go through the qualification round, which will be a two-legged series against another team, so only 1 home game guaranteed. If we win MLS Cup we'll go into the group stage which is 4 teams playing each other home and away, so 3 home games guaranteed.

I don't know I thought that Wells brought some great energy that Smith doesn't have, and also played with creativity. Overall, I thought he had a good night.

Congrats from a Quakes fan who was there. Beautiful facility and hospitable fans; enjoyed meeting a few of you at the British Bulldog tailgate.

And a special shout-out to Marcus from your FO, who was thoroughly professional and among other things stayed to see every last away supporter safely on a shuttle bus out of the park. Give the guy a raise.

Had hoped to post this on the Quakes board, but offer it up here by way of best wishes for next weekend: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYDdZVI43WU"]YouTube - Canadian Bacon - there it is men toronto[/ame].

I believe Marcus is the longest employed person by the FO right now, and yes, is a great guy. He may have been working fort he Rapids the last time we went to MLS Cup, if not he was hired shortly after that.

Ok, so just thought I'd throw in a rebutile here. I don't have DVR to re-watch the game, but I just was impressed with him and Kimura combining well (with Cummings also) on that right wing during the first half. I think they really kept Tim Ward from pushing into the offense and did well with Convey also. I can't recall how many times Wells received the ball, was able to do a quick cut turn and dribble to the inside also, which is something different that provided variety to the attack. It would be interested to see some stats with touches / completed passes / giveaways, etc. but I just thought he was one of the more involved players last night, aided greatly in possession, was creative at changing the direction of the attack, and of course demonstrated speed tracking back to double up with Kimura on Convey, or just provide the coverage himself. Anyway, I'm sure that we're both just super excited by the result, but wanted to defend my statement.

I thought Wells played a very good game and wouldn't be surprised if he earned an MLS Cup start. In fact, I hope he does.

Near the end of the game Wells went down in front of us. I didnt see what happened but when he got up he kept doubling over. Not sure if it was a cramp or he got injured. He kept looking towards the bench like he wanted to be subbed out but when they ignored him he just played on but without as much energy as before.
I guess having the 12 stitches in his leg from last weeks game was what caused Mullan to hold off a little as he didnt seem to get into it as much as he usually does.
That was the most exciting game and atmosphere I have been to since starting as a fan in 1997. The stadium was just alive with excitement from the beginning of the game, in fact from the minute the teams came down those steps the roar of the crowd never seemed to stop.I am going to hang the Colorado Rapids flag outside my house until after the game next week. Lets show Colorado that the Rapids fans are proud of their team.
We've cleaned up the Eastern coast now lets clean up the rest of the West!

I decided to document one of my pet peeves with ref's. I counted 5 goal kicks by Busch before the goal. Here are the seconds between when the ball went over the end line and his kick, 28, 20, 23, 33, 35. That's over 2 minutes of the game.

The first goal kick by Pickens, after the goal, he sets the ball down in 10 seconds and the Ref is running at him to warn him about stalling. WTF. This happens every game.

Disclaimer - I wasn't able to tell how long it took Busch to get the ball as there were replays, but damn...

Ok - last post in this thread. My favorite quotes about the game:

    Here
(I suspect he actually said parity, but still I like that one better)

I gotta admit, I need to watch it on DVR. I"m pretty sure I had the tallest man in the stadium standing in front of me so I wasn't seeing things as I normally do. :)

I'm just remembering a couple of plays in the first half where he just looked a bit lost out there, just didn't look sharp. Got burned a couple of times.

I really love that there was just one bottle of champagne in the locker room. I suppose it's a balance between not wanting to jinx something and acknowledging that winning the conference doesn't really amount to a hill of beans, but I'm hoping if the Rapids raise the Cup next week, there's more than just a bottle for the team to celebrate.

That said, at least it's not like baseball, where they uncork the champagne 3-4 times between clinching a playoff spot, winning each playoff series, and then winning it all.

Hoping Stan is there this week and he dips into the old pocketbook to give them a proper champagne bath, assuming the Rapids are able to come home from Toronto with the hardware.

Who would of thought at the start of the season that Kosuke Kimura would score the game winning goal in the eastern conference finals? Not I, that is for sure. As one of his louder critics this season I want to send a big congrats to him. He and the rest of the Rapids got the job done. Well done Rapids. Well done Kimura.

Awesome atmosphere in section 108 Saturday night. I hope we can recruit some more members after that one. Awesome game all around.

    GO RAPIDS!!!

Gary Smith, Nov 13, 2010. A long ways from the last practice of 2009, when Conor left the field challenging Smith to trade him....

Kudos to Smith for turning it around!!!!

On a similar topic that hasn't been mentioned (or I read past it), where did 4 minutes of second half stoppage time come from? There were 4 subs, no injuries and no goals in the second half. Now if the referee was adding back the 'extra' two minutes due to time used up stalling he should have done something in the match not just added two to what should have been two (30 seconds/sub). If it had been a typical 3 I could have stomached it but the 4 (which he went beyond) was a sort of hell during which all I could think of was the Salt Lake match (which ironically helped get us to the EC Championship).

I think LA vs Dallas also had 4 minutes second half last night but they had subs and goals and celebrations ...
