I've never seen an atmosphere like that before, I was so proud. At half anyone that did not go take a leak or get something warm to eat / drink.... WAS DANCING! what a night. I will never forget it.
At kickoff, I was questioning the reports of a few seats in this or that section and figured it will be a cozy but good crowd. After taking a breath in the middle of the second half and looking around I had a hard time finding empty seats. I don't know about other sections but at least in front of 108, people stood the entire game and their were but a few moments of calm. I've only been going regularly for maybe 7 or 8 years but this is by far the best experience I've ever had at a Rapids game. All the credit goes to the team and the 17k+ fans.
Someone (Rapids, MLS, both) really made a big push. I wish they'd do that during the year. Calls, tv ads in prime time on networks, mascots roaming the streets... Attendance would have been 17,781 if they hadn't scheduled a work buddy and I for work tonight. Edit: actually, higher, as we would have brought friends and family...
Rapids' opponents have to hire Crash Davis as the media coach. What's wrong the usual bland but gracious "we didn't execute, they're a good team" tack. Both teams had chances. When it's that close, sometimes the ball bounces in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. Giving quotes like Convey's just makes you look bad.
That was an awesome night! I just want to know who hired the 3-year old to design those championship tee shirts?
Heh I was thinking similar things when the players were putting them on. Yuck! Maybe they were an afterthought. GREAT TIME! We can totally win it all.
Congratulations from a TFC season ticket holder, we look forward to seeing many of you at BMO field. For air travel, if you can get to Chicago on the cheap fly from there to the Toronto City airport on our regional airline Porter airways, visit flyporter.com The city or "island airport" is walking distance to BMO and is near downtown hotels. The main airport on the other hand is a fifty dollar ride to the city core. Lots of choice for soccer friendly pubs, check out our page for more info. I recommend pre game drinks in the Liberty Village area, the Brazenhead Is popular and is just a 15 minute walk to the stadium. Good luck and enjoy our city.
I was there in 1997 when the Rapids beat Dallas. I wish I could have been there last night. Atmosphere was great on TV, well done all you Rapids fans! Game could have been 2-0 or 3-0 with some of the chances. I think the MLS Cup Final is going to come down to Omar and Casey being able to convert more chances than they did last night, regardless if it's Dallas or LA. BTW, if the fix was ever in (and since the Red Bulls crashed out to San Jose, it probably isn't) how much do you think the league is hoping for an LA win tonight? I'm loving that our Rapids are going to the MLS Cup, but a Colorado-Dallas MLS Cup is one of the least likely pairings (like no one would have predicted it, even after the seedings were set for the playoffs), and certainly lacks the glamour that LA brings.
Congrats to the Rapids and fans on a good win and great play-off run. Typical class-less response by the Smurfs to not give you any credit, but that is on them. Enjoy the week and hope many of you can make the travel to Toronto - it is a great experience.
I agree, school on Sunday. (Hint - If you really want to bash us talk about our 'domination' of Columbus by 'losing' 2 - 1 in 120 minutes and then winning on penalties. ;>) ) All in all I still can't believe it, I want this next week to be over instantly ... and to last forever. ;>)
Just wait until you hear the tin-foil hat fans complain about an AEG/MLS/Don Garber conspiracy against the Quakes
Watching the game this morning I'm pretty sure Mullan was onside in the 10th minute when he went in on goal unmarked.

Convey's quotes along with the other 'fluke goal' comments are quite laughable ! I'll tell ya what was a fluke and that was Omar clangling it off the crossbar after dekeing Busch. I mean, have they not watched the match game highlights to see a Rapid dominance of the game ?! What did the Quakes have, three chances the entire game ??
I was pretty sure he was off when I saw the replay, but I assume you're watching on tape / DVR and can see it frame-by-frame. Oh well, no matter. Also, yeah, Convey's a whiny git, but you know what? Don't care. The Rapids are going to Toronto and he's not. And seriously, San Jose thought they outplayed us? We had 6 shots on goal, they had 1. Cummings hit the crossbar, got stuffed by Busch, Moor (I think?) had a header cleared off the line... we had 4 or 5 golden opportunities. Yeah, San Jose had chances, but couldn't even put them on goal. Pickens didn't have much to do. Some are saying LA or Dallas is going to easily beat us. Those people clearly haven't been watching us.
new rapids fan here (welll i been following the team for a couple of yrs now) that was a great game , so much fun i am thinking of going too TO, do each teams get some tix too sell- i see there a section for each teams.?
Leaving the stadium last night, I told my daughter this was the best game EVER!!!!!! I was so absorbed in the game I didn't notice that the whole stadium was full until maybe the 80th minute.
I was pretty bummed at first when the players were taking the field because there were quite a bit of empty seats, but by the 10th minute it seemed like the place was packed, saved for a few empty rows on the south end. I still can't get over the energy in the last 10 minutes. The supporters terraces were all jumping, they got the entire park to rise to their feet using chants, and finally the whistle blowing. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it. I'm pissed though because my DVR cut out just as the refs were about the blow the final whistle. The TV people said we had great fans. We sure do.
Really? I thought Wells was terrible most of the night. He had some good moments but overall I thought it was a poor game for him.
