Boston College 2, Harvard 1 (Eagles score 5 minutes apart.) Central Florida 4, Virginia Tech 2 (Former Hokie Luz Yamashita scores UCF's second goal.)
Hokies are now 4-9-1. After going 5-13-1 a year ago, you gotta figure Mike Brizendine needs to show some serious progress next year or it's time to call a realtor. In fairness to him, he didn't take over till late last summer and the program was a bit of a mess and making a sea-change philosophically after the issues with Ollie Weiss and his band of foreign mercenaries. So this is really the current regime's first full season. Still, they need to show some signs that they are able to get the job done next year.
North Carolina 1, South Carolina 0. SC's first loss to an ACC team in four tries. Both teams had a player tossed (in separate incidents, no less) and seldom-used freshman Robbie Lovejoy had the winner. EDIT: Assuming both matchtracker and UNC's stats on their website are correct, Lovejoy's goal came in his collegiate debut. Duke 2, High Point 1, OT. A brace for Ryan Finley, who continues to put up big numbers (some would say pad) against non-con teams.
I went to the South Carolina - UNC game. These teams don't like each other. South Carolina plays some dirty soccer. They wanna fight instead of play. UNC wins 1-0 on goal by Robbie. 1st game he's played all year. Provided great minutes. Chipper chapel native from SC played well. Eddie got hurt on a stupid play by South Carolina. I'd be surprised if someone else didnt. We have bodies droping every week it seems. Our finishing is not very good. Why we have a lot of 1-0 wins.
Maryland 2, Colgate 0 - goal an assist from Casey Townsend. Clemson 1, Georgia Southern 1 - both teams entered the game with 3 wins.
Michael Farfan & Eddie Ababio to the injury list for UNC. Brett King quit because he's had so many injuries. Thank you South Carolina for being one of the dirtiest teams ive ever seen on the pitch. I wouldnt scheldule those guys ever again. Please dont ever come back to chapel hill. Stephen Mccarthy Eddie Ababio Michael Farfan Cameron Brown Billy Schuler David Rodgueiz Bruno Castro All out right now for the heels.
Arrogance is in the eye of the beholder. You stated you hated Virginia, i stated that people hate winners. Virginia is the defending national champion (or the current "winner" of NCAA soccer). Are most winners considered arrogant pricks? Maybe. But you might also be confusing their confidence from being defending champions to arrogance. Food for thougth... and Go Hoos, beat the Eagles!
Nope, you couldn't have paid me to apply to UVA. Went to a private school in Northern VA and all of my friends, who were top 10% of our class, settled and went to UVA early, and spent four years hanging out with other kids just like us. It was like going to high school all over again, after spending 13 years at our school. Combine that with the attempting-to-be-southern-elitist-ivy-league attitude and I can't stomach anything else out of Charlottesville. Don't have much love for VT either, and this may be more football centered, but I do love this...[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RidU6ILUQNE"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RidU6ILUQNE[/ame] And I suppose this didn't help, my freshman year, at BC: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvc3N1BXsjQ"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvc3N1BXsjQ[/ame]
Just out of curiosity.... What college did Frank Spaziani, BC's football coach, work at last before coming to Boston College? When BC hired Tom O'Brien to be football coach, where was he working?
Well TOB is a prick anyhow, so there's no surprise there. As for Spaz, it's an unfortunate link. But he's spent more time with us now than he did them.
North Carolina 3, Virginia Tech 1 Lots of untested kids step up for the Heels. Clemson 2, Duke 1 OT Finley ties it late for the Devils but Riley Sumpter gets the winner in the 97th.
UNC 3 VT 1. Hats off to VT they played well near the end. Though their goal was somewhat flukey it deflected in the air by a defender and went right over Scott Goodwin. Heels half to relie on freshmen that werent going to play. Theyre steping up. Interesting to see how far this team can go missing main attacking players like Farfan. This was their 1st regular season title. That either shows how good the ACC is or how much Elmar wastes talent.
Virginia 1, Boston College 1 Eagles dominate statistically but Restrepo makes 7 saves to help the Cavs earn a road point.
Noonan doing an impressive job with the team he has right now, give him 2 years and Clemson will be back.

TUESDAY Furman @Duke Navy @NC State North Carolina @Virginia Commonwealth Wake Forest @Elon WEDNESDAY Dartmouth @Boston College Wofford @Clemson Radford @Virginia Tech FRIDAY Maryland @Virginia SATURDAY NC State @Clemson Boston College @Wake Forest Duke @Virginia Tech North Carolina @East Tennessee State Looking at the standings, I think only Carolina, Maryland, UVa and BC are sure things to get an NCAA bid right now. Duke probably will, too, but they have little room for error. Wake needs to get to .500 and hope they have a good RPI and there aren't a lot of upsets of bubble teams in the one-bid conference tournaments.
They just got their first ACC win....not to mention they're looking about as successful as the team last year.
Clemson is much improved. Last year was a fiasco in the aftermath of Trevor's arrest and dismissal. This year, Noonan's team struggled early but they've been a tough out of late. Given how little he inherited and the amount of youth he's using, it's impressive the Tiggers have been as impressive as they've been. Noonan is a good coach with a track record of developing national team (Cory Gibbs) and MLS all-star (Jeff Larentowicz) players. Give him the lure of the ACC and Clemson women, and he'll have things turned around down there pretty soon.
Point taken. Not to get off topic, but any whereabouts of TA lately? I think the team has about the same level of seniority as last year, but clearly a better crop in the younger kids. I'm not quite convinced that Noonan will make much of a dent in the ACC, although he may bring Clemson out of the shadows of the recent failures of past seasons. Time will tell...
