Weird as in interesting. It will be very interesting if Liverpool and Everton are still near the bottom of the table in a few months.
Blackpool are joint points with 7th place, therefore they are going to play in the Europa League next season. Honestly, what is the purpose of your post? Predictions have been known to be wrong before but this doesn't change the fact that Blackpool do still have a worse squad than Derby County did.
According to who or what? Years from now this season's final table will show Blackpool with more wins and probably more points than 2007-2008 Derby County, and nobody will remember that you thought Derby County 2007-2008 was better.
According to my own ********ing interpretation of the game and the abilities of players. Exactly nobody will remember because I was wrong, and Blackpool have performed quite well so far. Blackpool will fall apart in similar fashion to Derby, and they are lucky they've grabbed a few wins early on. I feel I must make the point that just because they rack up more points that Derby that doesn't make them better. Your argument appears to be based solely on comparing points amassed in independent seasons, which if you think about it is incredibly retarded.
How much do you think the quality of the Premier League has changed from three seasons ago? If I was comparing 20 years seasons apart then I agree it would be less fair. Without using points in previous seasons, there would be no basis for making predictions. Manchester United could never start the season as a title contender. Even predicting a club to do better or worse based on players who came and left includes how good the clubs' that used to have the new players were. Is there a certain amount of points that Blackpool needs to get to make you acknowledge that they are better than Derby County 2007-2008?
The quality of the Premier League changes every year, not so much with the bigs clubs, but in the mid and lower table clubs changes massively. Predictions and quality of teams are judged by looking at the players' skill and ability within a team. No one predicts the season solely on how many points they got in the previous season, it's idiotic. If Blackpool manage to continue their form for the rest or at least the majority of the season then I will agree they are better than Derby, they won't maintain it though so it's all ok. Blackpool are a shit team that hit a spell of good luck and good form, Derby never managed to get anything going, this doesn't mean Blackpool are better.
I would say that the no need to rush selecting a club is the right option as you should watch the league for a few seasons and get a sense of which club seems to select you. I am more of a Bundesliga person as don't exactly like that the EPL has mostly been the Sky 4 and a whole bunch of other clubs according to the English media. It is nice to see the Spurs breaking it up. I don't say the same with Man. City as they are just following up what Chelsea did when the Russian came to London. The EPL in General this season, I hope that Bolton(Owen has definitely changed them), West Brom, and Blackpool remain up as they show that every mid table and below club doesn't have to resort to parking the bus just to gain some points.
You could always go for a level 6 team in Ebbsfleet United , playing in the FA Cup next week, highlights on ITV.
We all should support Barcelona and Leo Messi... Have you seen how they destroyed Almeria 8-0? What a fantstic performance by Barcelona was that... And Leo Messi scored hat-trick... http://soccer-magazine.com/soccer-news/barcelona-destroyed-almeria/
La Liga though... 2 real teams then 18 full of farmers and children as players. Hardly a proper league.
Yeah, but those two reams showed in Champions League so many reasons to support them... This thread it's not dead....
Barcelona showed they are not all that, and they rely far too heavily on Messi. FCK held them at home and almost got a point at the Nou Camp as well, so if a decent side faces them I think they could be in trouble. Madrid haven't proven anything in the Champions League for a long time, even so they probably will have a decent run this year with Mourinho sorting their defence out, and with Carvalho in amazing form, but they will win by playing the most boring football you can imagine, who would choose to support them if they weren't simply glory hunting?
It seems top-flight European football is effectively divided in two de-facto leagues; 15 clubs comprising the top 1-4 from a number of countries, then you have everyone else else. The top 15 basically sweep their home leagues every year, making that competition kind of irrelevant. They almost always blow through UEFA group every year, making that also irrelevant. That leaves the CL knockout stage and finals as the only competition of equals in top-flight European football every year. Kind of sad really.
I became a true fan of FC Barcelona after attending a Champions League match at Camp Nou in March of this year. Before that I would just watch their games on TV because it was usually the only game broadcasted. Seeing what FC Barcelona is and getting to tour the stadium was pretty cool and something I will cherish for the rest of my life. Also got to stand a few feet from the team when they walked into the stadium for the match. Alan Shearer is one of my favourite players, so needless to say I am a supporter of Newcastle United. On my bucket list is to make a trip to St. James Park. I lived in Turkey last year and since everyone supports one of the 'big 4' I started to follow Fenerbahce after going to one of their games since my best friend has season tickets. But, I lived in Ankara while there so I started to follow the local clubs more (Ankaragucu and Genclerbirligi). AND since I am from British Columbia and used to live in Vancouver, the Whitecaps will always have my support. Looking forward to an MLS season where I can cheer for my team! Thats why I support my teams.
I wouldn't even say there were 15 equals, I think you are being quite kind. The top 4 in England, the top 2 in both La Liga and Serie A and Bayern Munich and Lyon from the Bundesliga and Ligue 1. Those are the only real consistent performers even though you might have a rare burst from the like of Porto, Valencia, Villarreal and Spurs etc. I don't think it's quite sad though, football always goes through periods of dominance from certain teams and change will come again. Liverpool are falling away, the Bundesliga has replaced Serie A as the 3rd best league in Europe, La Liga will soon divide TV money between all the clubs like the Premiership does - this will make the competition far closer and remove Madrid and Barca's unfair advantage. Serie A shows no signs of improving and continues to get worse and worse. Ligue 1 has an opportunity to become a top league if they can keep hold of some of their key players which is looking more and more possible as rich leagues from Europe have to keep to a budget for the first time and everything starts to level out, clubs will rely on youth, and there is no better than the French youth system. Expect the Premiership's dominance to be well and truly over within 5 years.
It is really nice to see the rise of the Bundesliga in the coefficients and love the competitiveness within the league action although with different clubs each season minus maybe Bayern, it is tough to have clubs getting used to European action. BVB Dortmund will most likely be knocked out of the Europa this season before knockout rounds due to not taking care of good opportunities despite outplaying every one in their group for much of the matches. it will be wonderful to see them in the CL next season if they continue their brilliant season. As for the EPL, it is far more interesting watching all the clubs beneath European spots fighting it out for survival. Obviously it is more than just Holden to me but I enjoy what Bolton is doing under Owen Coyle, they will hopefully keep it up and get seen on either FSC or FSC plus over here. As for Holden, I hope he keeps up his progression over there.
Barca and RM are fun to watch in the Champions League. La Liga is a snoozefest. I'm falling asleep just writing this...
Real Madrid are now one of the most boring teams in the world. Personally I regard the Champions League as the most boring competition to watch in football - not because my team doesn't compete in it, as there are many competitions I watch without following a team, but because everyone is too scared to lose a lot of the time, and the only time you get goals is when there is a massive mis match. In those matches the goals don't come about from constant pressuring and sleek football, the goals will come from the other team being shit. It's an incredibly boring game of football if you take away the prestige and hype.
I don't watch CL all that much, but I thought both semifinals were good last year. Robben's late goal at Old Trafford, Inter hanging on for dear life as Barca became more and more frustrated down the stretch made for some great entertainment.
