This is just disgusting. We put ourselves in such a great spot to make a playoff push, and then get 0 points in the last three games. I'm ready for 2011.

As Kamara's shot hits the post in the 91st minute I was thinking to myself, "I swear I've seen this play before..."

I've been with James - I never _really_ thought we'd make the playoffs... not that I wasn't hoping, cheering and pushing for them, but it was a lot to make up... if we had won the Dallas game I'd probably have changed my mind.

I'm mostly disappointed we didn't work Keller much at all. Matchtracker shows that Besler got our 2 shots on goal. That's not good enough. Kei didn't have a great game, Bunbury either. Jewsbury was more offensive than Auvray... but we just didn't get our attacks quite right.

Oh, and I can't believe how open Zusi was on that quick restart. Credit to Seattle for closing down quickly but Zusi was asking for too much time.

As far as 2011 - let's get a bigger field. :) I do think that the field size makes it much easier for teams to bunker with a lead (or just for the tie). We still need to be able to open up defenses better... though, to be honest, we do that very well at times (and had done well last year, even) but don't actually seem to score from those situations as often as we ought to.

Hopefully Bravo can help our attack next year.

Other than his successful dive, Bunbury played like dung. So did KK and Smith.

Not to put to fine a point on it I don't think we really dominated and fell short at all. Seattle looked good -- conservative -- but controlled and they took their few (3?) chances. Its the kinda shit that gets you into the post season rather than our infuriating ability to convert, and our recent inability to play when we are not behind.

I hope Bravo brings some clinical finishing in. Kei has done well this season but when you knocked that one against the goal post I had flashbacks to the LA game. Ultimately those two chances converted may well be the difference. Its unfair to pin the playoff loss on Kei, its a 30 game season and we are really done after 26 of them - we have blown any number of opportunities for wins and ties.

I'm glad somebody else said they thought Teal took a dive, I have not seen the replays yet bet it sure looked like it from the top half of the Cauldron behind the goal.

Admittedly a Sounders fan here, and I will agree that the Grammatrain (seriously, what in the ******** is a "Grammatrain") song is absolutely complete and total shit. The other one, however, has the benefit of being at least partly in Spanish so at least I can't bitch about how stupid the lyrics are.

    Seriously, they are both embarassing.

And yeah, Bunbury dove, but it worked. Kudos to him.

Just watched the highlights a few times, Teal took a heavy touch and then took a dive. Oh well ..... guess that is part of the modern game. I still hate it.

Jimmy Nielsen was at fault for goal two.

That's never been Auvray's job though, he's not been in there to be an offensive threat, and it doesn't help when he's basically playing right in front of the center backs trying to cover for their total lack of pace.

We played poorly tonight, and basically like every game this season, get plenty of time in the oppositions half of the field but totally and completely run out of ideas in the final third. Bravo better be a ********ing miracle worker.

This stat right here is our problem: We've had 152 shots on goal this season, that LEADS the league. We have 30 goals, one of the lowest outputs in the league.

Too many chances that we don't finish.

And how many beers did you have? ;)

I haven't watched the replay but I thought Bunbury got clipped. Maybe not as much as to take him out, but isn't that what some of us were griping out recently? That he needed to learn to let himself fall instead of battling through all the time?

I saw Jimmy Neilsen come over ... and Kamara after he finished his pity party .. not many others bothered ....

.... Teal ... it was smart falling down. I'd feel hard done by if something similar went against us, we'd be bitching about refs for a page or two :)

Oh, I know - so I guess, really, Auvray was replaced by Rocastle, in a way. I don't expect Auvray to do anything offensive.

I don't know how many times we ended up just losing concentration... there were a couple times in a row in the far left corner from the Cauldron 1st half, and then where Kei just missed Jack's pass on a breakaway in the 2nd. I'm sure there were lots more, but those stood out to me.

On a positive note, apparently I was on TV, courtesy of being in front of the Cauldron reporter.

Though we've had some very legitimate gripes with the officiating this year (I'm sure every team has, but I don't follow them, now do I?) so I don't feel so bad getting a bit of reciprocation.

All-in-all, I thought Stott did pretty well with the game. Sure, it felt like some of the fouls Seattle bought were dives, but as we have just gone over, seems like Teal's was as well. Sure, Stott & Crew didn't get everything right, but I don't expect them to and don't think anyone really should.

On Teal's PK play. I'm pretty sure the replays on tv showed the defender stepping on his heal.

Bravo will not be much help if the Wizards don't abandon the direct offensive attack strategy (if you can call it a strategy) of pure long ball over the top. He needs a build up attack that can put the ball at his feet without everyone in the stadium (including the opposing team's defenders) knowing exactly where the ball is going. The wizards attack is too predicable. Maybe the players are just not good enough to be deceptive and dangerous in the offensive third, or dare I say, the coaching isn't good enough to make it happen.

Absolutely agree. If you look at the results in LA and Columbus... we play much much better on a large field. There are teams that just consistently come into CAB and dominate us because our team is not very good on a small field. I really hope having a larger field will open up some of the talent on this team and next year it'll be like watching a totally different team at home.

What was the chant for Freddy Montero? I kept hearing it in the Cauldron, but couldn't place it.

    Thanks.

Watching the highlights, he overreacted to the contact, but Parke did clip his heal. Live it looked like a clear penalty from where I was, but like I said I had the sign boards blocking my view of his feet.

I think he was at fault for both actually.

You should read the Seattle board. Hehe. Anyway, I thought he had a moment where he kinda let everything go but then started calling stuff again. It was like he spent 20 minutes just being a spectator and then remembered he was the ref. Oh well, nothing surprising there.

Yeah, I am not denying the contact at all. Just thinking he looked in little danger of going down from it, and I'm not sure he would have if he was in a different position.

You are correct, that was a clip. Go back to the New York game, Bunbury was clipped just before taking the shot that Condoul saved. This time around he made the right choice by going down.

Game observations: This is a good team, but they are not playoff caliber. Until they change the cb's, they will continue to give up soft goals. On the first goal Rocastle got beat by Nyassi. Enough said! On the second goal, Conrad got bumped off the ball, yet Beesler could not bail him out.

Espanoza continues to take poor angles as a defender. Harrington is a stud. In the second half, he stayed stride for stride with Zakuani on a counter, great job! Beesler and Conrad, see above.

The midfield played ok Jewsbury is not a starter. Arnauld worked hard, and that was a great penalty shot. Rocastle, (see above).

Forwards: inconsistent, inconsistent ... Bunbury continues to be a dynamic player, but has nothing to show on the score sheet.

Kamara: Last week I blasted him for his passing, but it has improved. That said, that was poor finishing on his part. He has to score on that opportunity.

Smith is so talented, but one gets the sense that he is not a team player.

Neilson has been a lifesaver for most of the season, but of late, he is not getting the job done.

Overall, this is a fun team to watch. They dominate possession, and create tons of chances throughout the game.

Yea, he did let things go for a while, but he was even in the calling. I'd see one play where I was all "hey!" and then the next play where I was like "got away with one there" so... I'd prefer consistent and even, but he didn't lose control, called what was _needed_ to be called and otherwise just did a good job, IMO.
